I know right! it was a good site, used to play there a for a couple of weeks. it would be a loss and will further tarnish the image of bitcoin
if the admin actually did the "exit scam". but I wouldn't be surprise if he/she did I'm just saddened that this instances of scams will
accumulate to the point where people will doubt even great and trusted gambling site.
This is expected from most of the new gambling sites and that is why we should just focus on the existing one that look legit . We have primedice, stake, bitvest, budtadice and so many of them that has been with us for long and the owners are trusted members in this forum. Those gambling sites that look so good to be true , should be avoided. It is better to keep your funds than investing in scam projects.

The websites which you have mentioned are here for a very long time and you can play there safely. The sites like safedice and other new ones can scam any time. I mostly play on the old trusted sites and when I play on the new sites I usually withdraw my amount on the same day and do not keep my bitcoins on these new sites. So in case a site is down, I have nothing to lose.
Even if you are withdrawing your bitcoin within 24 hours you are still taking risk. What if the sites get shutdown within your 24 hours? The best thing to do is to focus on the trusted sites that you have confident on. We have been in this for long and it will be unfair if we still feeds those scammers. Be wise and stay with the old gambling sites.

Did the gambling site close shop recently?
There's no confirmation of them closing recently but without any response or confirmation from the safedice's team it's heading to that direction.

The crazy thing is that this site is still up now, and honestly I haven't played in this site anymore, so I think it's risky because without support, gamblers won't be able to complain.
Their users can complain as much as they want but it'll only get ignored.

It could be the reason that they are not online or the site can't be access by many people. If it is safedice.com then I am able to access the site and this is what I found in the site a a dice player playing on the dice game. I don't know if the results shown in the site is real time and it's this account that is only playing right at this moment. The player's account https://safedice.com/accounts/29348
The problem is not about the difficulty in visiting the site, what squatz meant by being down is how it's being managed recently.

Did the gambling site close shop recently?

The site Twitter page seems to stop updating around July. https://mobile.twitter.com/safe_dice?lang=en
Not sure if that is their real handle though.

A Scam accusations against the site before they probably stopped operation. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/is-safedice-a-scam-5127766

People need to be more careful with centralized gambling site. Atleast make sure they are well recognized here and have a good reputation

There's already a ticket for safedice and theymos supported it, I think it's clear enough that this site cannot be trusted anymore.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=396610

So this site will not be able to scammed people in the community, they should review the account so they will know the status of the site.
This was one of the best sites before, though they only offered dice game but they have the simplest UI and its faster as well.

Safedice was also the dice sites I played with before, I even invest on its bankroll but it seems like they weren't able to develop their sites.
There's a lot of complains about this site, but no one handles in their Ann thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=868275.4120).

We cannot prove what really happen to this site, there was a rumor that the admin got jailed but was not confirm until now.

They were active in the past with their promotion, in fact they ran a signature campaign in the forum.

I hope this information is not true because I have been a very big fan of that site, played there for many times and also I remember they had their signature campaign. Been hearing the rumor for some time that it looks like an exit scam but I refuse to believe that until proven because that site looked to real to go down.

When I cross checked this info with one of my colleague who is known for his gambling performances, he mentioned having some BTCs on site that is yet to be withdrawn and he looks very devastated, I really felt pity for him, I believe I would have also been a victim if I didn’t withdraw my last win before they started having the issues. I would never envisage something like this happening to safe dice, it just means no gambling site is 100% safe for us.

I doubt bankrupt is the reason they would stop responding to their players and suddenly manage the site very poorly.

One of their bitcoin address still have a lot of bitcoins it'll be enough to pay most users that couldn't withdraw because their hot wallet is rarely filled.

Probably they are already bankrupted and shut down their site, SafeDice account on bitcointalk is last active last year on March 25, 2018. No one knows the real reason in sudden disappearing of them. I dunno if this true as what I have found through on their ANN thread. An exit scam is also considerable reason.

The site I think is still working well is probably a misunderstanding.

Alright both of you are simply spamming for signature campaign purposes. You haven't looked into the issue at all, and I'd know if knowledgeable people who know about the subject area could help here. Not people that are just going to post generic garbage with no real value.

Friend no, I hope you understand my post correctly. I was trying to guide Op not to make statements that is not confirmed yet or if he/she has any suspicion to help other users, that could be done in accusation board. As you could see from responses so far, the fact has not been pinned down clearly.

I didn't know about the site but was guiding the statement. I hope we are cool...

No one knowns on what happened actually into its owner but basing on whats written on their forum account trust list https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=396610
The owner is on prison (don't know if this is true). So we can presume that depositing to this site is risky to proceed on.

Don't know if anyone knows the story of SafeDice and why it went down.

SafeDie was a pretty solid site, low house edge and allowed people to invest in their bankroll. But it seems like the owner either went through an exit scam, or dissapeared fully and there is no way for people with money on the site to withdraw from it.

Anyone here have a real good story on what happened here? As I used to play SafeDice a pretty large amount.

Are you talking about https://safedice.com/  ?  It is UP on my side and I have checked it just now. Maybe it was in maintenance mode and its back up now.
Who else is facing this issue right now ?

I am not recommending it to be scam-free site or not, but the site is up and running.
That's right, at my end here the site is up with all features intact and think it was on maintenance before now. The problem with most of us gambler's is impatient towards that platform's that we once fell in love with and sometimes quickly called these platform's names likes: exit scams or.pure scam.

Don't know what's the exact reason too why the admin went offline for long time. When i realized it, safedice main account already got flagged as a scam site.
Maybe the site has been sold or changed hand to other people/company?
Maybe, the sites have shut down like other scam gambling sites and it is really unfortunate. Op reviews on them is not an early flag to me and the earlier the information about safedice is out the better it will be For all of us that have heard it.

I have played there a couple of times but it seems like the owner has gone inactive due to which it is best to avoid the site atm.

No one have a clear story. IIRC someone said he is in jail or something but that again can be rumour. It's been more than one year and people who played there had so many problems with their withdrawals which no representative from Safedice answered.

Also if you check the Safedice wallet transfers you will find coins going in and out which leaves a question that they can process transfers but they can't process withdrawals of their players? ...so yeah there is no definite answer about what happened but it is clear that they should be avoided atm.

It's a shame that such site has gone to ground in this way and as a player who loved the site it also makes me sad....

Not me, but pardon my innocence, I'd just gave you an idea on why they have been offline. You've been asking for what happened. But no one knows that up until now, as I've checked the link you have given. I'm just not fully aware of that site but just gave my opinion here. So no need to be crazy angry.
If its really that spammy then I guess it shouldn't be on topic. By the way, let me do the favor of searching the story for you. LoL.

Edit:
As I've searched the internet, it started with the XMR issue, and for some reasons devs are still coomunicating with the public but not the owner. So there might be a possibility that what you said was true, it was definitely an exit scam. Besides if the rumors were right that he was imprisoned then the public will know or maybe someone from the team of SafeDice might continue what they've started. But who knows, there are still some possibilities for other reasons.
