Another ' what if ' question that does not have any chance of getting into reality at all. But let us say that there is a chance unlikely 1% of getting vanished with Thanos' snap, well that would be ridiculous for everyone that has funds in a form of crypto no matter how huge or small it is, then the fiat will also vanished and that might be a good topic for another 'what if'. lol.

It's impossible to happen for now but we still got no assurance that it will never occur in the future. Of course, if this case happens lots of holders and investors will cry out and complain because their investments will only end up as nothing. We all know that most of us have exerted an effort and worked hard just to achieve these earnings so it's would be a downfall if crypto will vanish. However, let's just hope for the best and I believe that crypto will never fail us.
I feel sad by just thinking about it because many of us will surely feel hopeless and remorse about every decision we made, we will keep on blaming ourselves because we don't realize that those things can happen because of the unpredictable future. It is probably the end for the some of us particularly to those people who wasted most of their time investing by thinking of the opportunities that they are able to get a huge profit. Many of us will have some trust issues regarding investment because of that experience that makes us ask ourselves on every decision we made. No one, not even those experts can determine the future but it is much better if we just keep on supporting crypto because it changes our life into something better so we don't have to doubt it's capabilities, besides it was able to overcome every problems in the past years.

Basically every cryptocurrency sometimes have different nodes where transactions around the world is processed. There could be some case that this could happen in the future but the odds are too low. With this, it is merely impossible that cryptocurrencies as a whole could vanish just in an instant. Maybe a problem could occur to some cryptocurrency with the same nodes and blockchain, but with everything to be compromised, I think the entire internet issue is a subject for this to happen.

Cryptocurrency is one of the best and futuristic creation for advancement because they converted the physical money into digital money, from the previous year the price of the coin is not valuable and profitable, but many people see the potential of this coin and invested all of their money, and by the year of 2017 the price of the coin blows and give them much profit, the price becomes stable for a long year but the time has come the price goes down again, and many people are pulling out their money to becomes same of loss of profit on it, the price today of the bitcoin is slowly going down form nine thousand dollars it falls now to seven thousand dollars and continues going down, it is not suitable for us as a investor. Even the price of the coin falls, still, it won't get vanish because this is the father of all coin even the smallest coin in the crypto are still surviving through years, the price of the bitcoin is just resting and waiting again like before.

What will happen if crypto vanishes overnight or due to some or the other reason if crypto becomes inaccessible to public? I know this does not make sense as crypto will not vanish but still what if it happens? What about those huge chunk of investments made by whales and other investors?

Assuming that one day, all of cryptocurrency will be gone as in nada nothing at all then of course people who invested a lot in this industry will have nothing on their hands but just digital dust and good, beautiful and exciting memories. But wait, I don't get why would cryptocurrency just vanish? There has to be a big cause for that! Like a global nuclear war that decimated and leveled down many big countries killing billions of people, maybe this can be the best case scenario when cryptocurrency can be good for good. All remaining people or survivors will have nothing on their hands and because of the catastrophe they might not even remember that got some Bitcoin or Eth somewhere. Or maybe there can be a zombie invasion of sort where people are turned into walking dead, certainly zombies don't need any cryptocurrency, do they?

End of the world? Well not in a literal meaning, but well, everything else meaning. Prerequisite of Crypto vanishing is if every, and by every  I mean EVERY device out there lost access to the internet, no matter what device it is. I'd say that the populace would actually have a lot to think of rather than crypto only. It's not like crypto has been adapted to the entire world, so I doubt any would really take notice of it immediately. I'd say most companies would rather take note of their current economic system, together with the government.

Imagine a blackout of a week, no internet, electricity or such. A country experiencing that would lose billions if not more, so imagine the whole world experienced that. Do you think people still have the time to worry about crypto, when all their assets are considered dead because of the blackout?

If this happens, I am sure those who have large investments placed on crypto will do everything to restore it.

Definitely. If it's bad enough to worry about crypto, you don't need to worry about crypto.

Crypto is still money. And I am sure, there are those that have misplaced priorities will priorities to worry about their crypto and money.

I wouldn't try to think of how it will happen but definitely many people will be pissed. Especially if those people kept a large portion of their savings in crypto. Particularly affected would be people that saved most of their money in bitcoins waiting to sell them and them move abroad. That plan would be scrapped and they'd have to make do with whatever small amount of money they have left.

unless you can suggest some remotely possible way this could actually happen, there's no point in discussing it, because it won't happen.

It's still an interesting thought experiment. I remember NatGeo have a series like this. I remember an episode where all the oil in the ground disappeared, leaving the world with only those in storage and those in transit in ships.

We'd have bigger things to worry about.

We could have an ionic shower or something similar that could take the Internet down and every computer (could also cause radiation damage to humans and if strong enough would kill us immediately).

I doubt we'd survive something that whipes out computers or the Internet but I could be wrong (expecially since some of those cables are already quite far below the ground).

If the Internet goes down, I'd worry more about hospitals, transport, food and water than I would crypto.

Definitely. If it's bad enough to worry about crypto, you don't need to worry about crypto.

Those huge investments would become instantly worthless. But you said it yourself, this scenario makes no sense. Crypto could be banned or the internet could be cut off, or it could end up being a passing fad. At no point would it simply vanish though.

Even if the internet went down worldwide, the blockchains would still exist, waiting to be mined once the network returns.

it would have vanished i am pretty sure since there is no way to actually cash out those investments as crypto vanishes and no one can actually do anything when that happens since the network to actually make a transaction is also gone. but fortunately, it won't happen anytime so don't worry with that thing.

These might happen only on two occasions, a total cut of electricity or a total cut of internet and both of them are very unlikely to happen but if they do, like would be much more difficult to live, imagine living in world without electricity and internet, the pain would make you forget about btc lol Cheesy

if that really happens, it will surely cause an economic crisis. Because all this money is not just our principal, there are many people who borrow from banks to invest in this market and the amount has reached $ 190 billion. So if the crypto market collapses, the whole world will lose over $ 190 billion in fiat money and it will surely be a major influence and sharks will die. I don't expect this to happen, it will make millions of people poor.

like, "what would happen if a pig suddenly sprouted actual, feathered wings and began flying?" it ain't gonna happen, so why discuss it?

i'll go further though - in bitcoin's case, it can't happen. not "overnight" anyway. you'd have to see access to the internet entirely cut, globally. and if that DID somehow happen, we'd have MUCH bigger problems to worry about.

maybe i'm wrong - but come on. without a plausible "here's how it could happen," we might as well talk about what we'd do if we grew a third arm.
