I know I am gonna sound like a total jerk with this but If the disaster directly affects the moment it happened(strong earthquake or something similar) then there is no time to celebrate.
but if not(huge spreading house fire or something similar) then I can at least enjoy a few moments of that rare occurrence before doing something heroic. there is nothing wrong with enjoying
something that rarely happens even if a disaster is occurring but of course there is a limitation to that before someone deems it inappropriate and rude.

If i will be get to win a chance to get the jackpot prize and i big disaster came up out of nowhere. In my own point of view, i would just give the 70% of my winnings and the 30% would be mine because they are not the only ones who needed money, and the only important thing is i gave them a money to help them to provide their necessities.

For me winning a jackpot is like receiving money from the sky so I wouldn't feel too attached to those winnings. Of course that I would keep a part to treat my family and myself with something better in the holidays, but if there was a dramatic case that would have better use of my winnings than myself I would give them out on a blink of the eye especially with the Christmas around the corner. I don't put much value on money, but on the things and experiences I can achieve with it.

I try to be generous with people around me the whole year, not just for Christmas and holidays. However I can't just giveaway my income to every street beggar, but when a social case or disaster really impresses me I'll do my best to help out.

I like your "What If" challenges - if I can name them like that - very much, they really challenge my inner part to contemplate on those situations and I get to know myself better. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and I hope you will continue with this series in 2020!

It depends on the situation.
If it's a disaster that displaces people, the first action would be to provide temporary shelter as well as food and other basic amenities for the survivors. Then initiate a rescue mission in case some who are alive are yet to be found.

I'm glad to see another "what if" question again.

And for that scenario, I couldn't find myself enjoying when I see someone out there are crying asking for food and starving. I've found myself really fulfilling if I could help someone even though I don't win the jackpot prize. Actually, I did this not only because we are in the Christmas season but for I know that they need helps and we have enough, I could felt guilty celebrating while the others are not.

If I am that lucky to win some jackpot I will gladly help first those who are in needs. Depending on the amount that I win I will take 30% of all of the total winning to help the people I might donate 20% of my remaining 70% of total winning in gambling. Despite of what are the people thinking if they think this is a dirty money because it's from gambling. I think it is more righteous to show that you are sincere of helping others especially if it's a disaster tragedy than listening to their negativity.

I just won a jackpot. That means a lot of money and there nothing better than sharing your blessings to everyone, especially those who need it the most. Of course, I will help but I will not donate them all that prize. I will give maybe half of it for donation and the other half I will enjoy for myself.

You still will enjoy half of your jackpot earnings if people are suffering nearby you ? If i got this jackpot, then i will send of the this money to the good cause. Even if i try to enjoy some part of it, i could not because at the back of my mind i would still have that thought that this money is needed by those who are in trouble.

Well, I always participated in your thread of what if.. but this is a quite good idea especially on this month of sharing or yuletide season that every one of us is celebrating. Times flies and we are now on the 10th week of your what if...
Well, if ever I have won a jackpot prize and then there is a place that affected in the disaster, I will never have doubt to help them and split the amount that I have won into two and buy food, clothes, and water that surely they needed at that time. I personally go there to help, unless if that is a small amount you prefer to donate in NGO's organization.

Indeed, whenever we win or not from any gambling, it is good to help others need help as a sign of being a good samaritan. Even a small amount that you give, that is a big help for them. Especially during this Christmas season.

actually this is a governments responsibility and i don't want to interfere instead i will talk to the government on how i can help the people being a countrymen and also not overpowering the government.

Whenever I'm winning in dice, I also give tips to some player. Then how come the one in needs, of course I will but not all because I will also share my winnings into my family and gonna keep some for myself. Others may say why not give it all or most of it just like others did since they need it more and that money came from gambling. It's pretty normal not to because I also have needs and family. Big or small amount, still that's a help, better than nothing or ignoring.

Almost everyone here intends to share/donate their winnings to the victims. I don't. I intend to keep mine.

But, it does not mean that I will not help. There are ways to help them without spending all my winnings to them.

First, I am an avid fan of auctions. So, I will try to use my money to purchase items that I can then auction to others. Of course, I will disclose that the profits from the said auction will proceed to the victims. I can keep my money while helping others. Do you know what is good with this method? When people hear this, some will be inspired to donate items for auction. That is extra money for the victims and so the money that could go and help the victims is not limited to what I won. I have seen this many times in social media that is why I know this will work.

Winning a big amount of money is great but you know what's the best feeling? It's helping other people. That's more genuine happiness when you can help people in need. If I were to win a jackpot, I'll be glad to help others. Since I won a big amount of money, why not share some part of it to other people right? I think since we're all human, even bad people, we still all have soft places in our heart. Seeing other people struggling can hurt us, and winning a lot of money, for me helping them is the best thing I could ever do.

It's nice to be part of this What If segment of yours OP. Though it's a little sad that this will be the last one. Hoping to see another one like this next year
