One word is not enough to describe altcoin it's an alternative coin next to bitcoin, even the forks of bitcoin called altcoins
"Future". I think it is a future of all fiat currencies. Of course it will take decades but I'm sure it will change the world's attitude to paper money.

I believe what altcoins offer is future, a relatively brighter future for those who believe in it and make good use of it, and supports it.
Altcoin may not be as glorious as bitcoin, etherium, monero, and many others, but it is sure present in the future.

As what i have read and understand, altcoin i guess "alternativecoin". There were lots of coin then, after bitcoin was born, all coin that follows are called altcoin. Which let you have more chance to gain more coin in different methods yet all of those are called altcoin. Thats how amazing altcoin is, it lets you take easy ways to gain more.
Altcoin is an alternative coins to bitcoin. Bitcoin been the first and the leading coin other coin that come after bitcoin is regarded as an altcoin

Altcoin "Alternate Coin" because bitcoin as the main and altcoin were there to give another alternative way to avoid the bitcoin scalability problem. I remember the first altcoin was created. It looks like to compete with the bitcoin but after the more people are knowing about the fact bitcoin has a problem with its scalability of the blockchain and then they are calling that as alternative cryptocurrency or altcoin.

altcoins or alternative coins are awesome to have in this world, they are not just currency or an investment, these cryptocurrencies are helping bitcoin to be busy and extend the value to its best, without this alternative bitcoin will be sleeping most of the time and will not be appreciate by many people.
