Holding bitcoins and other top of the market coins like ethereum will secure you a good future profit because they are part of what we called future payments in the world. At the same time grab some cash also for altcoins and play the market by doing day trading, that way you will earn some good profits everyday that can help you for your everyday needs and somewhat add to your savings while you are waiting for your long term coins to pop up and shine.
You can invest in BTC or ETH which is the pair of all altcoins. About altcoins it's better if you understand the mission of the projects you are participating. Not all altcoins are for long-term some times you have to sell it or you will regret from the dump. You need to determine if the coins is good for holding or you need to sell it early.

I am invested BTC in 2016 and after I thought BTC price is very high for invest. Then I changed my fund BTC to eth. In last year BTC, eth, and altcoins markets were get downed. So I invested my all crypto related funds in best altcoins.
I prefer to hold mostly alts as it has worked so far in making me money, they tend to pump way more than btc/eth ever do. The only issues is they tend to all dump when btc does

as far as I know, if the best way is to split your money in bitcoin and some altcoin because the current market situation is uncertain. it depends on what you want, holding bitcoin or ether can give you a chance to gain profit but hold altcoin can give you an advantage too, both are cryptocurrencies that have high volatility.

First point, it is not good if you hold all your money in altcoins. If what you mean by this is to convert all your money into altcoins. Because, for now, you cannot live by altcoins alone

Various opinion will be here to answer your question but take the anwer only suitable to you dont ever take something that people like but you dont. For me, bitcoin or other top altcoin have more power to stay alive rather than low cap coins. So better to keep most of money in top altcoin and keep small amount in low marketcap coin.

Do you have any doubt? Spit off it. Holding a currency like Bitcoin and Ethereum is far, far better than any other altcoins (shitcoins). Compared to these two coins, all other coins are shitcoin. Keep them aside if you wanna discuss other coins.

Depends on what you are looking for and don't forget no risk no gain if you hold btc or ETH you may not get gain like holding some altcoin that can easily give you 1000%. The risk is high but the gain is also high. If you want yo sit at the middle still ok.
