ICO means Initial Coin Offering. In this the developer of the coin collect the fund from members in start and give them coin before the launch of that coin in this process person can get good amount of profit from this. But there are many scam in this also so I always recommend everyone to stay away from this.

An ICO is when you offer tokens against money in order to finance a crypto-related product.

If you were an investor wouldn't there be regulations?
Why again did the US fine Ripple.
And issue a general crypto investor Fraud alert?
Why did they impose IRS tax rules?

Quick question..

If you are investors then who is accounting?
Are there annual share holder reports and proper record keeping on "development work"?
Such as with the million dollars butters cashed out.

What part of giving 550,000 ETH to known scammer is sketchy don't you get?
Bitshares is so legit the mass shitcoin development thought oh well it would be even better ICO'd on Ethereum.

This all is like watching fanatics foam at the mouth running into each other like idiots.

Tokens.. Yeah.
Pump price then cash out.
That is crypto.

It has nothing to do with a currency.

It's a scammy charade for ROI's.

I want to point out how there is no legal age requirement nor laws such as Insider Trading.
Same thing Martha Stewart was jailed for.

And there is no Bernie Madoff serving jail time either.

Ico it is = DEFINITION 'Initial Coin Offering (ICO)'
An unregulated way in which funds are raised for a new crypto business. Initial Coin Offering (ICO) is used by beginners to bypass the tight capital addition process and is managed by the financier or the venture bank. In an ICO campaign, the percentage of crypto delivered to the initial tenant of the project in return for a legal tender or other cryptocurrencies, but usually for Bitcoin.

ICO means "Initial Coin Offering" when you're joining on ico you need a btc for investment but don't worry you can earn a huge of bitcoins by joining this project, It means by which funds are rised for a new crypto venture, Early investors are usually motivated to buy the coins in the hope that the project becomes successful after it launches which could translate to a higher coin value ICO are similar to Crowdfunding and it deals with supporters that are keen to invest in a new project.

Thanks a lot Man. Accutally I am searching that answer. Already I have finished some ICO campaign. I have joined their Singnature, Twitter and Facebook campaign and some coin. And I made a good amount of BTC. But I don't know what is the ICO. I khow that, ICO means a new Bounty campaign. Which offer some coin for Signature, Social media campaing and Other campaign. .. like an IPO.
like they all keep saying.

Except with no laws / regulations like in stocks markets Roll Eyes

And did I mention ideology?

Did I point out how none have been successful?
Did I point out how none served a needed purpose?
Did I point out how none of them Need money / unregulated investors?

You'd have to wonder why anyone would bother with them huh?

A rather obvious answer to a simple question no?

ICO = modern times MLM pyramid / ponzi scheme variant borrowing on the idea of Bitcoin for one single reason.. ROI's.

ETH IS THE MOST SUCCESSFUL ICO COIN YOU ALL THINK.
FUNNY BECAUSE IT'S NOT JUST A RIGGED SCAM WITH A STUPID GIMMICK...
BUT IT ALSO SERVES NO OTHER PURPOSE THAN TO CREATE OTHER RIGGED ICO SCAMS FOR EVEN MORE MONEY.

It's intention is a failure.
Adoption is non existent.
It's only purpose is unregulated scam coin profits.

And that is what you all consider a success.

Me?
I would have to think of adoption of a currency.
Which does not apply to ETH... Because ETH is not a currency.
And it never will be either.

There is no "one day" with ETH.
It solves no problem that needed fixing.
It is the equivalent of investing in hollow worthless housing derivatives stocks.
It is an inflated scam coin bubble that is used for nothing what so ever than to run profit schemes.
.. Which is not why I joined crypto.

I joined to "support" a crypto currency.
Not a rigged scammy premined ICO profits app's gimmick load of bullshit.

I couldn't care less what they are "worth" either.

ETH - NOT EVEN ONCE!

ICO is the another form IPO for cryptocurrency. Initial coin offering works same like traditional trading equity where they allot shares for public . Here you hold shares in the form of token and can buy and sell on exchanges .

ICO is fastest way for getting starting funds, and can be very potent weapon against concurrency. Can be initialized multiple times during one project. Collected funds can be and assurance if they are used correctly, so investrs can be protected.
Negative sides:
1. Lots of scams.
2. One group can buy their own tokens and create artificial  demand so others will rush to join. This ends dumping at the ico price and below and investors are not even aware that this is happening.
3. Projects without future, created to collect funds for something that is obsolete or is not good idea at the first place.
4. ETH based tokens can be dangerous for ETH and ETH can be even more dangerous for them..

At the end of this story everything is hands of managers how they are going to use this potential, this leaves a lot of space for human errors.

ICO means the initial coin offering like the IPO(Initial Public Offer) that is offered by the Public company. The main difference is while IPOs are more regulated by the respective jurisdiction at the other hand ICOs are less regulated and decentralised technology for peer-to-peer transactions.

ICOs (Initial Coin Offerings) have become a popular way to fund cryptocurrency projects. An ICO is an event in which a new cryptocurrency project sells part of its cryptocurrency tokens to early adopters and enthusiasts in exchange for money today. ICOs provide a way for cryptocurrency project creators to raise money for their operations. Most ICOs raise money in Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies.

The ICO usually takes place before the project is completed, and helps fund the expenses undertaken by the founding team until launch. For some of the larger projects, part of the ICO money goes into a foundation that provides ongoing support to the project. They also work as an initial distribution model for the cryptocurrency tokens, especially those with a proof of stake consensus algorithm.

The ICO participants are invested in the success of the project. They can help get the word out and raise awareness in the broader community. They also provide early liquidity for the cryptocurrency tokens when they start trading. The ICO participants are also usually motivated by a profit potential if the project takes off and the tokens become worth more than the ICO price.

ICO is basically a form of investment which ensure good returns for all if the projects run successfully but this will not be the case with late buyers if an project dies up at some point or not successful at all. ICO is basically crowd funding a project through buying tokens developed for the project which can be traded on bitcoin or altcoins like ether and waves. Before joining an ICO kindly read and understand the whitepaper and if you are comfortable with the project then you are good to join

I start learning ICO from this site: it introduces ICO in an simple way to understand

https://bitsonblocks.net/2017/04/25/a-gentle-introduction-to-initial-coin-offerings-icos/

I'm trying to understand it, I do not know
I am too stupid to understand english, then i translate.
I began to understand a little, then I want to be an investor with the capital I have and is choosing a potential ICO.

Too optimistic explain about what ICO is. That's correct that you invest BTC (some accept and ETH plus) to a project, mostly it's new crypto-currency or a token. Actually with this invest you buy this new currency with a cheap price and now you are holder of this new thing about which nobody knows yet (in a world wide). And now here - will this currency will pump and will be popular as BTC and ETH and ect., or will the price will stay kind of frozen on the market for years, because of nobody interested in it (Startcoin is the brightest example).

Initial Coin Offering - a scammy distribution model, stay away!

Yup and for a large variety of reasons too.
But since people are greedy scumbags they are tolerated.
This was not always the case either..
Rewind back a couple years and none of this was possible.
What happened?
New guys kept showing up lowering the bar.
The scene gets more scammy, greedy & corrupt as time goes on.

The reality here is almost no one cares about right or wrong.
The concept of ideology is long since forgotten and dead.

This whole Altcoin scene morphed into a giant infrastructure for running new pyramid scheme variants.
The ICO was adopted because it streamlined the coin creation process.
And allowed the so called dev's to bypass the fairness of a mined launched coin.
It then became possible for a device to buy or simply set aside vast premines at launch..
Where as before the dev'would have to invest in mining hardware and mine the coin at launch like everyone else.

Simply put it made exploitation far easier.
And in the process has set back the advancement of crypto by many years.
The ICO system is simply an exploited push into bad territory.. Centralization.
It will take years to get back to where we were... Once we get rid of the greedy profiteer leeches.

The reality is the ICO has raped and left for dead the concept of idealogy
It pissed all over it in in the name of "white paper" ROI's.

Ripple and Maidsafe and Ethereum had been launched when there was still credibility in crypto.
Back then the scene ignored those three shitcoin and we all called TV employees stupid scammy bullshit.
Those people are gone.
The new guys showing have no trouble supporting ANYTHING as long as it makes them money.

REAL MONEY!

Ideaology is not going to stand in their way.

If Satoshi wanted to launch an ICO he would have.. but he didn't did he?
What is different between back then and now?
It's simple..
Back then we wanted to break free from banks etc and start a fairly launched digital currency.

NOW?

We have scammy garbage like Ethereum..
That is not secure.. Not fair.. And hell not even a fucking CURRENCY.
Yes, back in 2014 and earlier people really believed in fairness and equity when they were talking about crypto currencies, to confirm what you said, look at this guy's comment -
Initial Coin Offering - a scammy distribution model, stay away!
Haha, but you can make money from that before it scam, why not use positive thoughts to make money from it instead of neglecting to ignore the opportunity and sad when you miss that. As ETH when down to 6$ if you can buy 100 ETH, in present you can have ~25k$ and can use this money for relax Grin

Initial Coin Offering - a scammy distribution model, stay away!
Why do you think so, huh? Tell me know what you think.

Spoetnik explained it in his comment, you can also search plenty of info yourself as of why this is a scammy distribution model, if you are not a complete ignorant you will find all the info you need to know about ICO's.

Is that the same kind of bounty offering too? And if that company got broke someday, how could the investor claim their investment?
