The IEO means initial exchange offering seems like initial coin offering. The ICO offers their coins on the website or their partnered platform. The IEO offers their coin on the exchange. That is the difference between ICO and IEO. The next thing is we cannot guess ICO listing exchange but IEO guaranteed to list on their hosting exchange. That's why IEO has huge potential to reach the market than ICO.
Later 2018 by ICO, softcap couldn't even better than others project. Then start IEO, initial exchange offer for reach cap. Another STO is security token offer.

IEO stands for Initial Exchange Offering. Owing to the inefficiencies in ICOs (Initial Coin Offering) IEO was created as a better alternative and since then have being living up to expectations. Also, IEO is done in exchanges thus reducing scam rate while setting processes to participate in any IEO within that exchange; that is, the IEO process in Binance might be different from that in Bitforex.

If you are familiar with ICO(Initial Coin Offerings) then you will understand the difference between ICO and IEO. They both have the same purpose and that is to raise funds for the projects, the difference is IEO is exchange hosted and ICO is an open crowdfunding in raising funds for their project development.
IEO is a token sale just like ICO but this time it is being launch on an exchange. Binance have launched several IEO's which were successful thus making this procedure a trend but seem's lately, many small exchanges follow the steps of Binance but failed as it did not reach it's set hardcap.
IEO is same like ICO the only difference being that IEOs are hosted on an exchange but the purpose of both of them remains the same that is the raising of the funds for project development so icos are like open fund raising campaigns while IEOs are hosted on a specific exchange platform where its members and investors can participate hassle free.
Just want to add that the IEO which is held on well-known exchanges is guaranteed to leave you with a profit.At least all IEO, which were held on the exchange Binance has always left investors with a profit.Also, the main advantage of IEO is that You should not carefully study the project.The exchange did it for You.Therefore, with the IEO scam is excluded (which can not be said about the ICO).

The success of the project greatly depends on exchange's fame and reputation. That's why IEOs on big exchanges are favored and attract investors' attention.
