here is the thing, when you ask people what coin is the best you are asking a pretty vague question. and also when people answer such questions 90% of them will choose the coin they "wish to go up" not the coin they "think will go up".
it has always been like this. if you asked them what coin is good before Ripple was pumped (for example in February 2017) not a single person would have said Ripple. but when it was pumped on March and then May everyone started saying Ripple is best investment from end of the pump meaning from June as price of it was falling!

Lol...You're right man, I was going to point out how people are too emotional with cryptos and are swayed easily by the slightest change in chart trends. They have a habit of skipping Whitepaper and Roadmap 101.
But as for ripple, I think anyone voting for it should be because of bank's plausible interest in it's protocol.
From my experience eth is the best altcoin. And i like and love eth too. I believe one day eth will beat bitcoin. This coin also very promising That's why i think this is the best altcoin.
Ethereum, bitcoin I think is the best, for altcoin others I do not know very well information about altcoin others. so right now I'm just going to invest here because I do not want to take risks before I understand. 
i think it depends on your strategy, you wanna invest in famous altcoins such as IOTA, ETH, NEO, Stellar or you wanna invest in cheap coins such as PKT, INS, SXUT, CAT,...
I think now Ethereum is the best alt, bit it still need to solve a lot of problem. Maybe in few year we will see some new more technology improved alts

I would say Ethereum is the best altcoin and it is very cheap to buy not like BTC, and that's why many are investing ETH , and it will go higher next to bitcoin.
in my opinion ethereum is the best altcoin because ethereum have smart contract. I think that even the price of bitcoin can pass in the future.
