The best one I had, regarding return on investment, was the NXT ICO in 2013. Unfortunately I did listen to BcNext's recommendation to "invest only a couple of satoshis". Even with a 10 USD investment I probably would be rich now.

in the past, i have success with double bitcoin program investment but i only have once success because the other is getting scam after day 2 or day 3. and now, i only made investment in gambling site but i don't playing gambling with big money, and i think my investment is working good until now so i think i can continue for another short time.
I'm still new so I don't have any best short-term investment. Well I invested to a HYIP in January and initially it was paying every 3 days so I put in more but I learn my lessons when in its 3rd week it stop giving us to earning from our investment and later on was scammed. So I try to be careful next time if ever I would go any short-term investment that I think is best.
Im also new here in bitcoin. Is signature campaign a short term investment? Hehe. But i never ever have i tried any short'-term investments but thank you for the advice i'll be extra careful whenever im going to invest. But you better be also careful nextime and think whatever you're going to do. Thank you again!! 
The best short term investment that I have made up to date was just to buy bitcoin at a price in the morning by evening when the price at increased a little to cover my cost and stress, I just sold it off because I was scared the price might go down further and I might blame myself for it. Other short investments have turned to be scam with HYIP promising 24hours return. I was bitten on that part too.
I was bitten by doubler as well in my journey on bitcoin in the beginning. I thought that my short term investment of it will give me good returns because they are paying at first. Unfortunately, that is not the case. I learned my lessons the hard way.
I also have similar experienced as yours, I buy in the morning when the price is low, but in the evening some bad news came in that I needed to sell it in the evening. I guess my mistake is that I invest money that I'm not willing to afford. So in emergency situation, I have not choice but to sell it. Good thing I made a profit that time but only a small amount.

so you had $3 litecoin and sold it at $10 and made a huge profit of 233% and you are sad about it? I don't get you! that means if you had 0.5BTC in litecoin you had sold it for 1.165BTC are you are still sad about it?!!
and besides even if you missed the higher rise, nobody was preventing you to jump back in. I did that at least a dozen times. I buy low sell at the first high, then when it dips I buy back and sell again at the first high. it can be 10%-30% profits but it accumulates to a much bigger profit. something like 500%

No need to worry about what you sold already because no one knows how the future will be so just thinking about what you can do next. I think for next one or two years perspective dogecoin still considered as a good coin to invest. I brought Eth around 30+ and Litecoin around 10 and still keeping it. But now looking to sell off a litecoin and keep only ETH.

for me I have investment before on scrypt.cc and i'm happy for the past month before I get scam.hehe.

My friend gave me a tip to invest in certain altcoin in the past and now I don't remember the name of that coin as it was long time back and the price went 10x in a single day which gave me huge profits on my investment withing few hours.

I can point out 2 risks related to social lending:
1. Debtor's insolvency
2. Regarding BTC/USD volatility - when you decided to fund a loan, your capital is frozen until full return. It's possible to loose when you are not able to react quickly e.g. sold coins on high price or when price fell you get coins of less value than at the beginning of investment

Built 3 x R9 Scrypt miner in November 2013 - these days Dogecoin has been launched and it allowed me to ROI in few days 
I've mined like 5 millions doge in the middle of December '13, however I sold 80% of them for price much below the all-time high. Also Bitcoin price was above 1000$ - lucky coincidence

the best short-term i have ever made is hyips and bitcoin. but hyips are 100 percent scam soon or later: today paying, tomorrow scam, this is the life of a hyip. so due to that i stopped, and the other reason is that in fact you make money on the ass of the new idiots joining and depositing money, so it can pay the old investors.

Interesting. When bitcoin gives more profits to long-term holder, altcoins are doing magic for its investors in short term itself. But I'm not sure all the altcoins investors are doing this as I do see many people are crying out about their bitter experience with sudden dumps. If time permits, you please elaborate how much you have invested into RUBIT and how quickly you bought ICO and how many days you waited before you make 216 times profits of your investments. Same here in a short span of time, hyip investment only gave me reasonable profit and good thing they didnt scammed me because im aware how their system works. it is really risky and if you are not alert they will take your money after few payouts and will be gone. its not advisable though to risk your money in that kind of investment i just tried it before when i was not yet familiar in btc world.
