Because I cant find the threads I'm looking for. I learnt the basic of cryptocurrencies but cant go deeper as I cant find any guideline from here. There are resources here but I cant find them for my next step.

What is the main reason you don't come to this website more often?

First of all, your reason is pretty stupid (no offense), because people come to the forum to exchange opinions, to learn something new, or to share knowledge with others. In addition, most of us visit the forum from our desktops, and those who take care of their security never log in with their main accounts via smartphones.

If by any chance you read this post, you should have learned a long time ago that these topics are not suitable for the Bitcoin discussion board where you primarily posted it (as well as some others).

Imagine wanting to reply to multiple posts and having to find and insert those quotes. It gets even harder when you want to cut out the parts of the posts you are not replying to and you find yourself clicking multiple times to place the cursor in the right spot. It's not a big problem if you are just making new posts without quoting and directly replying to someone.

It's a bit difficult to find stuff.

But I like the forum because it reminds me of the forums I used to go back in the days. I wish I came to this one instead in those times Smiley

Lack of community projects and a negative overall atmosphere would be my 2 main reasons. If it wasn’t for nostalgia and signature payments, I’m not sure we’d see the activity levels we do from anyone who has reached beyond a member account. The vaporware forum, vaporware anniversary giveaway, vaporware badges… The trend does not look promising… The question is, will it ever change or are we going to continue to spiral towards the drain…

In addition, even with the implementation of the merit system (in which most newbies complained about), this brought about change that slightly filtered out spams which preserves the overall quality of the forum. I just do hope that they provide more features (e.g. mobile view, dark mode, etc.) in the future (though this has to do with convenience).
I think it did more then slightly filtering out spam. It has removed most of the problems in the main boards imo. Dark mode can be done on your side if you need to do it I do not think that this needs to be a high priority because it is easy enough for us members to change it. I would like a mobile theme that works with the Tor client on android but I think that is wishful thinking. I do not think the new forum software offers support for mobiles and even if we do have it upgraded soon it looks like we will not have a good experience on mobiles any time soon.

I can access the forum quite easily using a variety of devices, and I bought a bluetooth keyboard to use with my smart phone. I grown away from the forum because of the difficulty in having sensible political and health discussions. Some many people here seem to have been suckered into the belief that you can cure endemic diseases with vaccines after people have been infected, and also that the government is actually in control of the country. Maybe it is just that the indoctrinated are the most active.
I have not used this forum on my mobile phone but I have used other simple machine forums on my phone and it has always been awkward with a touch screen. I do not think I could justify buying a physical keyboard for my phone just to use this forum. How good does the physical keyboard work with it? How do you store it with your phone or do you only use it at home?

My time spent here on this forum is a time well-spent. I do not regret reading on topics that revolve around current events in which I take for granted. Rather than reading news on Reddit, I would prefer to engage into a conversation here in this forum.

Want top-notch marketing for your project, Hire me
This forum is like a daily dose of medicine to me for it is the place I hang out with crypto friends share knowledge and also learn something new. The on the main reason I will not come more often will be if I'm busy with traditional necessary tasks or had a hectic day at work/home.
About the mobile, I don't see anything harmful in using this form on mobile.

having to zoom in and out and move the screen with the text to read is just as painful as nails on chalkboard.
In regards to the reading part, I'd recommend doing what @acroman08 suggested [landscape view] and for those that are interested in a better experience for posting stuff, I'd recommend combining the landscape view with a portable Bluetooth keyboard while using the "quick reply" feature!

  • Quick reply feature
    • Profile > Look and Layout Preferences > Use quick reply on topic display > show, on by default > Change profile

Alternatively, you can try the following things as well:

  • Note: Every single one of these versions has its own limitations and depending on how each post is formatted [e.g. those with tables], viewing it using any of the above versions might be a nightmare.

For me, it may be because the experience of using a mobile device to access the website is very poor, and I cannot browse the content of the webpage on my mobile phone as often as I can watch other apps. But compared to the practical level, I prefer the content of the forum, which is a rare place to learn Bitcoin knowledge. The content and knowledge attract me to use the computer to communicate in the forum as soon as I have time.

I presumably don't have a problem with the mobile view of this forum and I also like the knowledge I have gained from the messages post by the members of this forum.
If I don't come to this website more often it is because I am busy with real world responsibilities.

One of the main reasons I'm not here is because I can have more interesting discussions on Twitter and other platforms. In the past, it was hard to talk to someone about Bitcoin outside of this forum or using my local language.

Also, the forum is static and has not made many changes, which makes it possible to make posts using the laptop only.

Sometimes, I browse using my phone but the posts are from my laptop.
How do you have more interesting discussions on Twitter? I find that Twitter and Reddit is the worse places to have good discussions because they are full of trolls and children who like to derail the discussion with memes and other low quality posts. Twitter with its restrictions on how many characters I find hard because you then have to make multiple tweets to fully elaborate on technical discussions. Then the moderation on Twitter is only the most serious of things and does not have a rule about keeping on topic. Reddit is better because they do have moderators which keep it on topic but I still find Reddit has to many children on the website to have a good discussion. Bitcoin might not be the perfect but I think it is still the best place to discuss about cryptocurrencies.

The reason (besides the delay in the new forum software) why there is no mobile version in my opinion, would be cause the forum (or the administration) is sort of resistant to change, you can see this in how most of the social platforms linked on the profile are not that active anymore, but newer ones, like Reddit or Instagram have not been added.

For me, I do not mind the desktop view at all and have gotten used to it on a mobile device, I'm only off the forum, when I'm busy with school, work or family, or when I just want to take a break from everything and recharge.

I don't visit this site only when I'm with my family, doing my activities, or working in my office

For me, it's the lack of mobile view. I like this place, more than any website I use (and I use a lot) but having to zoom in and out and move the screen with the text to read is just as painful as nails on chalkboard. I'm very surprised that this website doesn't have mobile view. Its the only website I know that doesn't. Considering how big or is...its crazy.

Currently, I mostly open this site on my laptop because it looks good and comfortable but I also often open it on my smartphone, even though it looks less comfortable but I'm used to it

I hope you must start getting used to how this site looks on your smartphone, and don't expect too much, mobile displays to appear in the future

If you appreciate the knowledge one can garner from this forum, then you'll prolly not stop visiting the forum as often as you do for the reason above, I know it's pretty difficult for mobile users at first (I access this site with my mobile, and I'm currently using my phone to type this), but with time, the hassle becomes unnoticeable and you just get on with things as normal.

There is as yet no reason for me not to visit this website, except occasionally when I have a busy schedule in real life (like during exam period, family time, etc), OP, I'll suggest you either get a PC if you don't have one, or you just get used to the website on mobile till Theymos creates a mobile-friendly version.

I don't get it: what's with the mobile madness? Obviously it's going to be annoying and you need to zoom a lot if you replace - say - a 24" screen by - say - a 6" screen. Size matters! Six inches isn't enough, monitors are cheap, get a big one.
Instead of adjusting the site, adjust your screen size Smiley

I used to get annoyed by the constant zoom in and zoom out to avoid misclicking when using my mobile to visit the forum. what I found helpful is rotating the screen on your phone so the text would be bigger and you won't have to zoom in or zoom out when reading or clicking. I am not sure if the method I use works on other models/brands of mobile. rotating the screen has been a huge help reading clicking and navigating in the forum. why not give it a try.

For me, it's the lack of mobile view.
Do you have a PC or a laptop (or at least access to one that's secure)?  Most people do, and I don't think many members have reduced their forum time because of a lack of a mobile-friendly version of the site.  But I totally agree with you that Theymos really should create one, and it's truly baffling that he hasn't.

As far as the question being asked in the title, it doesn't apply to me since I visit bitcointalk just as frequently now as I did when I registered years ago--and thinking about that, it's crazy.  There aren't many websites that I visit as much as this forum, and when I'm on my PC there's always a tab open for the forum, which I'm constantly checking for new and interesting threads.

I used to visit the forum on my smartphone, by the way.  I didn't find the resizing and scrolling to be all that bad.  It was the typing with my fingers or stylus that drove me mad.  My phone's keyboard just wasn't big enough for my fat sausage thumbs, and having to type one tedious letter at a time instead of using a real keyboard with my decent typing skills was a turnoff.
