Well, information effects price. Big surprise. People controlling information technically and unavoidably therefore "manipulate" price. If you want to investigate wrongdoing, then find some suspicious activity and investigate it, but enough with broad generalizations and conspiracies.

Well this is the perfect example of the media's effect on Bitcoin:

Not coincidentally, Bitcoin rose over 10% in a short period:

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/bitcoin-price-rises-10-front-page-wall-street-journal/

I guess front page of "The" financial newspaper will do that.  Lovin' it.   Grin

Mainstream media helped create the first huge BTC rise in 2011. Lately, "they" are promoting Bitcoin so much, it almost looks a bit suspicious.

What Will 2015 Bring For Bitcoin And Media?
Of course, like any other topic around the world, media sometimes overshoot their reports about Bitcoin. Still, publicity is publicity, its doesnt matter if its good or bad.

I believe that 2015 will be a big year for Bitcoin in terms of popularity. Right now, there are a lot of good news coming each week. International businesses integrating bit[Suspicious link removed]gle accepting bitcoin, Dell accepting bitcoin and so on.

Media will slowly realize that Bitcoin is a game changer, a vital tool for mankind and people needs to be informed.

As Andreas said, give bitcoin two years...then lets see what will happen.

Many say that media stomps bitcoin through their one way reporting. However, I think bitcoin needs the media in fulfilling its potential.
Where Bitconi stands now, is also because of media's help.

I guess we are at end of phase where any publicity is good and most of ppl are aware of Bitcoin allready. Now we are entering stage where bad news just drive investors and potential users out of bitcoin and it is time for good news. It sounds funny, but in early stage bad news was good cause they spread lot faster and reach lot wider audience.

I'm very suspicious of the recent turn around in MSM approach to Bitcoin. Up until recently you rarely saw an article that didn't come out with all the negatives, instable, drugs, terrorists, excnages breaking down etc etc.

Suddenly everyone is a believer and the media is pro Bitcoin. But the subtle difference is oh the blockchain is the real tech and Bitcoin itself is a flawed currency....see where this is going?

So I think opposition to Bitcoin ie the FED realised it simply can't stop Bitcoin globally. But what it can do is create an alternative that serves its purposes ie to be able to print/make as much as it wants out of thin air. And that's exactly what is now happening apparently. The FED is not going to simply watch as it becomes obsolete, it will fight with the massive power it has. For the record I'm a big Bitcoin believer but I do worry some on here have not grasped the capabilities and powerful motives the FED and central banks have on here to grind abitcoin into the dust while accepting it needs to divert people to their own digital currency.

Gandhi fits perfect here.
"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win"

Now the phase begins where they try fight us. Hope that Bitcoin will make the race. It's going to be rough!

This just gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside when Wall Street Journal made it the top headline of their print newspaper:

Wall Street Journal is definitely giving Bitcoin a "bullish vibe.

Already some positive effects in the media.

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/bitcoin-wins-2015-world-economic-forum-davos/

http://blogs.wsj.com/moneybeat/2015/02/24/bitbeat-for-bitcoin-some-good-press-finally/

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/currency/11434904/Bitcoin-revolution-could-be-the-next-internet-says-Bank-of-England.html

It's actually been a banner year for the first 2 months, to have this much going on this early in the year.  More positive than negative, and it's only getting better and better...

It depends on the media. For example RT tend to be very positive towards Bitcoin with Max Keiser and so on.. while CNBC are experts of spreading FUD.

It depends what messages the source wants to communicate. Always try to search more every "news" for accuracy.

Speaking now, I saw an interesting video - talk about Cryptorevolution and I would like to share it with you.

I don't see much media attention, so, I don't know.

Call me old fashioned but i don't see the media either i turned my tv off quite awhile ago, because they push to much what they want you to see not the truth. If bitcoin has been in the media it can be good to reach a wider audience of people and maybe get more users, i would imagine if they are not showing the bad side of it then they are not showing that for a reason and would probably mean some powerful people are involved..

Medias help a lot, just look at Britney Spears. She's getting uglier and uglier, and she doesn't know how to sing, but since the medias keep on showing her, she remains famous.

Media can easily build someone, and ironically they also easily can destroy you.

You mean easily destroy like this?

Thank God Andreas setup a fundraiser for Dorian for the damage Newsweek did to this poor guy's rep.  One of the largest media blunders in recent memory...

Check out below, it's cool... I saw it somewhere, BTC's getting into limelight...  Grin

Do regular people read the Wall Street Journal?
I think readers of WSJ are the people who are interested in Wall Street and these people 'love' money.
That is still no good.

I prefer the acceptance of the mass/mainstream without any help of the media.

Media can easily build someone, and ironically they also easily can destroy you.

It depends on the audience of the media, as the effect of the wallstreet journal was almost immediate. But the mainstream media will be what will bring mass adoption. When Bitcoin is used casual within other media, like series or movies, that is when bitcoin will take off for the layman and not just the daytraders.

This whole thread reminds me of that Ali G skit "Da Media":

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_eUEb81fa8

The media good or bad press is in all actuality good for something as new as Bitcoin.  When you're a 6 year old technology, you just want to be seen or heard.  Perception can take more than a decade to change after the initial introduction.

These days the media news is more of being negative than having positive news. And this has no effect on the price, as the people in it, are already aware of the facts of the hacks and scams happening.
The only effect it has is that it reduces the adoption of new people into bitcoin as they tend to stay away.
