You're right OP, as long as we stay in media it's good, even if it was for a bad news, it creates curiosity and give people chance to learn and discuss. Which in long run helps Bitcoin.

But this is just my understanding and opinion, please don't bash me for it.

The problem is that most media only look at slikroad and scams when it comes to BTC.
They dont see it as a good thing, but as a bad thing only because of that.

And its so annoying.

Basically that has a dual effect as such. When the price jumped, they covered it a lot, and due to that we had many people who got introduced to btc, but the bad news steer people away . So its kind of a mixed effect

Yea... But still when you only see the header on a news paper "NEW BIG SCAM IN THE BITCOIN WORLD"
Then I dont think that people will come running and start investing.

well the biggest effect on bitcoin comes from social medias. but keep in mind that not all of them are positive. take this forum for example, every day you can see a now topic or and old one come up with a subject about bitcoin dying.

Its kind of a "dumb" question; following the popular saying "any press is good press", and in most cases it realy seams to be this way.
Bitcoin is warming up to be the next hot topic amung financing elite, and there is realy little chance for bitcoin to fail in getting the attention it needs to thrive.

Im only hoping that development side wont stop providing security by doing everything it takes to ensure everything is spot on with growing popularisation,
and then the last and most important step; legal regulation to stop next mt.gox from happening..

Theres actualy alot for bitcoin to go through, but so far, so good.

cheers

Well this is the perfect example of the media's effect on Bitcoin:

Not coincidentally, Bitcoin rose over 10% in a short period:

I guess front page of "The" financial newspaper will do that.  Lovin' it.   Grin

What Will 2015 Bring For Bitcoin And Media?
Of course, like any other topic around the world, media sometimes overshoot their reports about Bitcoin. Still, publicity is publicity, its doesnt matter if its good or bad.

I believe that 2015 will be a big year for Bitcoin in terms of popularity. Right now, there are a lot of good news coming each week. International businesses integrating bit[Suspicious link removed]gle accepting bitcoin, Dell accepting bitcoin and so on.

Media will slowly realize that Bitcoin is a game changer, a vital tool for mankind and people needs to be informed.

As Andreas said, give bitcoin two years...then lets see what will happen.

If mainstream/traditional media will not turn its attention to bitcoin?
Bitcoin will make their own media that will report only digital currency related news.

Media is still media, they will report good news about bitcoin if that news will brings their rating up and then if there are some bad news about bitcoin which brings their rating up too, they will report too. So media is very effected in this world, especially famous media. And effect to bitcoin is obviously the price.

Good reports in the media is very good for the price of bitcoin.
But when bitcoin is linked to bad things, the price will not go up.
It should also be good that the media mentioned where you can already pay with bitcoins.

It depends, sometime the media "bring" a good effect to the bitcoin image and sometime they don't bring a great image to the bitcoin ecosystem.

Well ,certainly all the media attention has been growing in the past 2 years. And giving it around 2 years should be decent for looking at what finally happens.

Media's effect? Definitely a good one. Given the above pictures, we can say that the perception about bitcoin is slowly turning to a positive side. So all we can do now is to wait and see. Hold on and wait for what's in store for bitcoin.

It's actually been a banner year for the first 2 months, to have this much going on this early in the year.  More positive than negative, and it's only getting better and better...
