I agree with you ETH is a popular coin number 2 after BTC. All ICOs currently use ETH coins, if you look at marketcap now eth is at the bottom position. It's time to buy as much as you can afford. 2018 I'm sure ETH will be a big competitor BTC.
Followed by Waves and who knows Waves become the next ETH to use their smart contract like some project using it right now. ETH is cheap right now and buy it may be a good decision since stay on stable rate this time.

Lets talk about which coins has the most potential in the near future. My picks would be EOS, Tezos, MaidSafe, Shift, Via, Xrb and MGO. There coins can make you rich within a year. Put a little of your money in each one of these and thank me later/ 
I guess it depends on the country but base on my observation, i believe ethereum is on the rise. Though there are also other altcoins that are taking our attention like litecoin, dash, and dogecoin but ethereum has been out and a little busy making its way to stardom.
Obviously ETH is the most popular alt coin it's my personal opinion.Because ETH future is bright I think after 5-6years ETH hit worth of 3000-4000$.I hope long live ETH.That's why my first choice alt coin is ETH.

Usualy i use https://coinmarketcap.com for looking for the most popular altcoins, you can check on there, many popular altcoins on there, and litecoin is still popular although the price is going down but doesn't mean litecoin is not popular, it is just fluctuation of price litecoin.good suggestion sir i use coinmarket too if i need to see what is the best coin or the popular coin as now
