You do not have to understand it because you will see it directly in the future.
Both of them are correct,
we saw it many times before in our cryptosphere,a few months ago when Bitcoin got his pump.
everything was red and only Bitcoin moved up.
why ? Money.
when Bitcoin pumps, everything will flow to Bitcoin that is why altcoin dump.
and when Bitcoin dumps, everything will flow to Altcoin.
but in some cases, you will see both of them get pump.it only happens if everything is oversold.

bear it in your mind, altcoin is an alternative tool.
and its main purpose is to gain or earn Bitcoin, that is why they're called Alternative Coin

Most cryptocurrencies doesnt have a fiat pair. They are most of them BTC/ALT
So you need to first buy BTC, then you buy the alt.

Besides that, bitcoin is the market leader, the most stable, tested and adopted cryptocurrency. The survival of all of them are somehow linked to bitcoin's adoption. Few people know what is Monero or NEO, or even Ethereum, but bitcoin is far more popular and easier to buy.

No need transferring your alts now if you have bought during the dip. Most times, what investors or most especially traders do is to buy alts when they have bottomed out and sell them when they pump.

However, the time most alts usually bounce on their feet is whenever bitcoin is consolidating except just few and the consolidation usually happen before a bull run or a bear takeover. Normally, during this time when the alts pump, most traders take profit from alts into btc.

There are still usually some exceptions in this case, but it happens generally this way for the whole market.

hi everyone   while everyone is talking about btc and it future i have another concern + the btc one   so i kept it a little optimist for  what if btc will pump again ( which is obvious

will happen soon or later )  how my alt coin portfolio will do ?

some ppl say that when btc is up  all the market is up

other say when btc is bullish the other coins dump

so am a bit confused and i think its better to ask this question early and prepare for it before it come

so to resume

what is the relation  between btc and other  alts  ( idk if eth is also affected like the other alt or there is small effect on him by btc )  ?

and  should i transfer my portfollio from alt coin to btc and eth now   or just wait till market get better  ?  in other meaning  which may bullish more  alts or btc/ eth  ?

and thank you

All cryotocurrencies was based in the system of bitcoin technology. Meaning bitcoin is the pioneer and all other bitcoin came in just a copy-cat style. There are a lot of cryptocurrencies that emergies, they are stable and trustworthy but there are also many currencies came in for the purpose to victimized and attact possible investors to  scam people. So if you plan to invest in the crypto you have to be very carefull, do your research, read news articles and join furom such as this and ask questions for confirmations.

the same relationship that there is between any fiat like USD and assets such as gold, stock, ... people buy these assets to make profit on their USD and then sell when they are higher to get that USD out.

altcoins have the same role for bitcoin. people buy altcoins with their BTC or fiat in some rare cases to make profit on their BTC.

What coins do you have in your portfolio? We can't offer advice when you give us such limited information.

There isn't a direct, causal relationship between Bitcoin and other crypto currencies - positive or negative. There might be a correlation, which means that price charts will look similar for multiple coins, but this doesn't mean that the increase in price of one coin is causing the increase or decrease in price of other coins.

There is literally no relation between btc and other alts. Each and every alt has been derived from btc and everything is somehow or other related to btc block chain. Though most of the alts tend to follow the btc graph pattern and they do dump and pump when btc does the same, but some unique alts like eth, neo and monero are worth notable. The coin develops in price exponentially when there are huge supporters in favour of the coin or it has been good in development.

If you have alts which has shitty scope of raising in future, sell them all and transfer them to btc, eth, monero or some other good coins. It's up to you to decide by keeping the coin or selling them. If your alts are in Top 50 in coinmarketcap you need to definitely hold them otherwise sell them.

I suggest for you to take a look at this website: https://coinmarketcap.com/
As you can see, it is usual that, when BTC falls, everyone else follows. Just look at the graph in the right section of the page. All coins graph seems to draw the same scheme. This is because many alts are based on the Bitcoin Price.
But, if you look forward, there are exceptions. So, even when the Bitcoin price is determinant for the alt one, there are independent ones, but they are very few.
