If you have that amount of bitcoin. Try to hodl half and invest half on otger cryptocurrencies. That would be the best choice. Try to invest in nem, ethereum, ptoy, adx and centra for long term. That would be a great choice if you'll do that. And by that I can see that you'll profit a lot. About your bitcoin, just hodl and by now if you have other money than your bitcoins you can invest on other cryptocurrencies.

There is no standard investment around here. It is just strategy. There were some veterans that can make their $500 times 10. Smiley all about strategy.

Endless Horizons!
I have 4.6 bitcoins, but I don't know if that's a good investment.
I want to know how much people invest in bitcoins, is it more then 10 bitcoins?
And what is the standard bitcoin investment?
I don't want to waste too much money on bitcoin, you know I'm not that rich and I have to pay bills.

consider your current income. Only put in what won't make you cringe each time. I put in a certain amount of my check into bitcoin each time and i'm slowly amassing more everyday!

There is no standard investment in bitcoin it depends on the set percentage based on the term and reference of the company you want to invest your bitcoin. Some companies or ICO's offered a small amount of investment but with high profit. It is depend on the set terms and condition and make it sure your investment is secure.

I Second that opinion there no set standard... Its subjective based upon how much you are willing to invest; how long are you willing to hold; what are the profit margins you are looking at... while there are several ways to invest and stay invested i.e. Holding bitcoin longterm in paper wallet, trade bitcoins on exchanges for other crypto currencies and investing in ICO's of good promising project (you would need proper awareness or guidance if you decide to invest in an ICO)

Regardless of what amount you are investing you should at-least hold 30% of your investment long term... considering the fork drama happening again by the end of the year may be hold 50% of investment as bitcoins on core node or any wallet as long as you have the private keys access so that you can profit from free coins if it happens again..

Actually that is a good investment if you bought Bitcoins in it's cheaper price. You said you bought at $1000 then you now have big profit because current BTC price is $4000+. If I were you Just hodl 4BTC and invest .6BTC in altcoins or trading. It is really difficult to earn such amount especially if there is no special skills or even capital. For me there is no standard in investing Bitcoin. You can invest how much you want. Just make sure to have a legit investment because there are plenty of scams out there.

there is no investment limit, no matter what you have directly you can invest. big or small investment will only affect the big and small profits that you will get.

You can invest any amount. You can start earning even having only $ 500. If you have enough experience in traiding - you can double this amount every month. When the deposit is small, it is easy to make money. With a larger deposit, this is more difficult.

People CALM DOWN! I brought my 4.6 bitcoin way back when bitcoin price is at $1K. I don't know if I should sell all my bitcoin or keep on investing. I used to have 7 bitcoin, and by this year and last year I have sold 2.4 bitcoin. I don't know why people are so crazy?

Because you, holding more than 1 BTC are like God to them.  They are pretty much crazy since they all pretty much go one way with their thinking....rarely if ever questioning it.

Probably safe to base it on how much money you hope to gain from it one day.  I believe its a fair assessment that we will see a $40,000 bitcoin in the next five years, and a $100,000 bitcoin in the next 10 years.

Plan accordingly.

What?! Who is crazy? You asked a question and they are answering it. The problem is they will just keep on answering what the title says. Even if you keep on replying here they will still answer that and will never read your other replies.
You can use electrum as your wallet and you could also sell it if you want. I dont think you have the passion of keeping it and is just up for the money because you already profited from 1k to 4k dollars. No one will stop you. You can always sell it at exchanges or if none for your country then go to localbitcoins.

Wait, your initial Bitcoin investment is 4.6? That is a ridiculous amount of money man lol. I'm not one to call out anyone on their personal investment decision, but that seems like way too much for an initial investment. Most people I know start with $100 and go from there. I'm fairly sure there are an exceedingly few amount of people in this forum that has actually ever touched 10 Bitcoins, much less start with it.

Either way, best of luck to you man! Projections are in your favor.

After hearing from you guys, I was confident of how much I invest. Let's just hope bitcoin doesn't fail on me. I have heard of some bitcoin wallet locking people accounts and took their bitcoin. So I don't know what bitcoin wallet I should use?

This should not ever happen if you are the tiniest bit careful. I would personally recommend Electrum. Write down your seeds on a piece of paper and never lose it. Apply standard security practices on your computer and your use of it.

It depends o your goal. If you want to be extremely rich after 5 or 10 years, definitely, you will need a bigger capital. Aside from that, you will need to invest only what you can afford to lose. Do not invest too much because the Bitcoin Market is very volatile. You can earn or lose 100% in just a day!

If you are unsure of the investment, you are better off trading with the amount of money you have. you just improve your mental trading to do that ...

Wow, not bad.  I've never owned more than something like 1.2BTC, and I currently own much, much
less than that.  I get an itchy feeling about crypto and don't like to have too much of my money tied
up in it at any given time.

As the gentleman above stated, it matters more what percentage of your net worth is in bitcoin, not
the straight up dollar amount.  If all you have in the world is 4BTC, that could be problematic.  If I
was a millionaire, I'd probably have no more than 5% of my dough in crypto.  It's just far too volatile
for comfort.

I think most users on bitcointalk have far less than you have, so you should consider yourself fortunate.
There are people posting in sig campaigns who are probably eating toothpaste sandwiches.

I love this post...toothpaste sandwiches....LOL...the truth comes out!! Cheesy

Most people on this forum hold less than 1 BTC yet they preach like they hold 1000's.  That's pretty much all that you need to know.

4.6 BTC is a good amount of money. Nobody wants to waste money and we all have bills to pay. If you're not confident, honestly you have maybe too much Bitcoin and you should maybe sell some to reduce the risk of losing money? Can you afford to lose money? It also depends on what price you bought them. I don't know what it represents for someone in your country...
