i've gone through different phases and still retain a lot of the same preferences, so hard to say just one. mainly hip hop, house, dubstep, acid jazz... basically danceable stuff.

Not easy to pick one.... if I had to, probably hip hop (from the old school 81-93 is the best of course Cheesy). But I love house, jungle, dubstep, breakbeat stuff.

Hard to say "favorite". I grew up a punk. Lots of ska punk, old school hardcore, reggae and dancehall. then got into 90s emo (a la Reversal of Man, Saetia, Orchid and not what you are probably thinking) and post-hardcore (Glassjaw, Sunny Day Real Estate, etc).... these days I listen to a lot of jazz and blues....

wow, 8 bit, awesome, have you listened to that - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZZrAKQ70iY?

nice, sounds quite good for the AY-3-8910 sound chip that is apparently used there (minus the voice). Still, the SID was better.  Smiley

90's college rock. It's so simple, yet so angsty. I love it! As for what I'd show them, oh man... probably some Collective Soul or Third Eye Blind honestly.

the 8bit SID

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrQuR1LHAVI

 Cool

moar srsly though, I grew up with metal, industrial, alternative etc, nowadays I'm open to anything, but I seem to still prefer if there is some handmade element in the music, and I can sense if music is honest and comes from the heart (i.e. not the millionth rip-off).

anything electronic and with scratching

I also like electronic but I can't bear scratching... for me music has to be melodic and well-arranged.

Apart from electronic I also like traditional music with real instruments. I try to be open-minded, because there is a lot of great music in various genres. For every mood there is music that fits, you just have to find it.
