I do not know, why its a bad to play it online when it is more of a skill based game..

It need skill, but you have to spend much time when playing it, and it will take longer time if you play tournament with many opponents. And sometimes we will feel regret if have spent much time but lose in the end.

Same. Unfortunately there aren't many PvP games, and when there are PvP games, they are based on luck, or empty because not many people play.

I would prefer to gamble on sports. Any kind of Sport but would definitely love to gamble on Soccer. As Soccer is the most popular game across the globe and everyone follows the game so it would be exciting to gamble on it and make a good money out of it.

is there a house edge at all if you are playing poker against other people? i believe there is no edge as people are playing against other people

Yes you pay a certain % to the house for each tournament or % of the pot for in a cash game.

You can definately get an edge, for example a random (INSANE) graph from a high stakes player:
