I prefer that you use MSI Z97 GAMING 5, I use this mother board recently and it has 7 gpu slots and 4 ddr 3 slots , This mobo is a high end hardware and i prefer this board because it is a heavy duty miner that can last for years and it can be partnered to gtx 1080, remember that the stronger your gpu then the best hash rate that you can get from it.

i  think  ausu  prime z270A is the best, 9 GPUs.

Another vote for this board!  I'm running 9 x 1070 with this board right now.

I'm going to make a rig and I've this thing in my local store.
Does it directly support 9 GPUs or what devices or process I need to do to make this happen?

Biostar has a newer option for mining riser rigs.

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138449&cm_re=btc-_-13-138-449-_-Product

Seems to be an updated variation on the ASUS H81 theme.

I have a choice of three mobos that I can find in stock and at decent prices...

1. ASRock Z97 Anniversary - (6no. PCIe)
 - about £95 / $115

https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Motherboards/ASRock-Z97-Anniversary-ATX-Intel-Socket-1150/B00LA6PPBW

2. Asus Intel PRIME Z270-K LGA 1151 ATX - (6no. PCIe)
- about £120 / $145

http://www.ebuyer.com/769654-asus-intel-prime-z270-k-lga-1151-atx-motherboard-prime-z270-k?mkwid=sWA3N2WiH_dc&pcrid=51630194939&pkw=&pmt=&gclid=CKSc3eS09dMCFSUW0wodO8MDzg

3. Asus H81-M Plus LGA 1150 ATX - (4no. PCIe)
- about £45 / $55

https://www.novatech.co.uk/products/asus-h81m-plus-intel-h81-socket-1150-micro-atx-motherboard/90mb0gi0-m0eay0.html?gclid=CNKn2Zzu99MCFa-37QodS_cHOw

Ideally id get an ASRock H81 Pro BTC but these are rare as hens teeth or pricey pricey pricey...

Has anyone got any experience with using any of the options above?

The 4no. PCIe mobo (if usable) would be used for 4 GPUs (obviously) then in a few months when cash flow allows for purchase of two more GPUs id sell it and buy a different, 6no. PCEi mobo to take the extra cards.

Thoughts much much much appreciated

Are you sure that Z270-K ??
its only 4 PCI-e slot the other 2 one is the PCI slots!!!
How can you change the PCI slots to PCI-e. if you wanna buy 45$ adaptor,  its ok!!

Hi...

I hope to use gigabyte ga-b250-hd3 Mobo to build the mining rig with 6  NVIDIA 1060 6GB graphic cards.

MOBO : http://www.gigabyte.us/Motherboard/GA-B250-HD3-rev-10#kf

1.1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16 (PCIEX16)
2.1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x4 (PCIEX4)
3.2 x PCI Express x1 slots
4.2 x PCI slots

GPU
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/10series/geforce-gtx-1060/

will the Mobo detect my 6 GPU cards ?

Guys what about this ASrock FM2A88X Extreme4+ or ASUS H81M-PLUS ? i find them really cheap and cpu i can get cheap so will be good, ad i have 8gb ddr3 in home for this so more save money for next card

I've been using a Asus A88X-PRO motherboard and a A4 6300 cpu with 5 gpu for almost a year now flawlessly. Two of the gpus are directly attached to the motherboard and 3 on pci-e risers. I'm satisfied with the low power consumption and the cpu has enough performance for a dedicated mining rig.

I recommend the Asus z270e strix,
it is a bit more expcensive.. but it can do 7 gpus without any problems, and if you use the M2 connector, 8 gpus.
and you have a wifi on the board, if you don't have a ethernet cable in that room.

ASUS Prime Z270-A also has 2 M.2 slots, which can be used via adapter

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Consumer-Electronics-Shop-Free-shipping-PCI-E-4X-Female-to-NGFF-M-2-M-Male-Adapter/32603828958.html?spm=2114.13010608.0.0.mF6RTm

i will receive the adapter in 2 weeks or smth and will try it out on the board.

or did any1 try those already?

I already try with a ASUS Prime Z270-P and it works perfectly with 8 cards (6 on pcie and 2 on the m2 with this adapter) on linux. You may have to update the BIOS and make some change in the BIOS in order to make it work.

asrock should really bring something fresh to the table, their h81 while it's a very good motherboard it's too old now, they need 1151 motherboard to compete, i hope they see the potential in profit for releasing a new bitcoin mobo, and release something new

imao there are very less Z97 and Z87 mining suitable boards left in the place i live and they are hard to get. TB25 is not available in Europe anyway.

So the only way to go is with Z270 chipset boards or take Z170 and have pain in the a... with installing and making them run properly. i am also tending towards Z270 boards for their resale value. yes, they are expensive, but they will still have a good value in 2 years.

can actually Z270 do more lanes as H270 chipset? mkay Z270 has 4 more lanes (total of 24)
