I tried to planeta-RTR one of the big Russian tv company... Sadly there are no English subtitles but it was interesting... Big thunder storm in Moscow and they show some kind of meeting with Putin and his ministers (or at least it's what it looked like but it could be anyone and about anything I have no idea). There was one young guy standing in front of him... Not the type to splurge in the blood of the Syrian people... The others they were drowning in it.
But still totally apparatchiks and no spark or brightness... No like in China when you can see life.. In Russia there was to my opinion some kind of sadness and boringness... Where is the magic of Anastasia gone?!? Lost in the mass graves of syria or chechenia?

I recommend to check russian youtube channels. You can connect with regular Russian citizens on vk.com, facebook.com and even twitter.com. A lot of data about day to day life there.
For video: There are also some youtube vloggers like the "stop a bad driver" program, guys climbing/stunts on skyscraper and several others. A lot of videos are also shared on the social networks.
