I think the best thing to do is to buy some and hope for its price to pump up,
If you already have some just hold it and wait for your aiming price.

If you are still optimistic with the coin you are supporting then just sleep on it.
We tend to make bad decisions while we are awake and monitoring the price wave.
There will always be a fall but if you did a research with your coin then you should knew it could resist and be back to its price.

Hello. I have a folio of BTC, ETH, NEO and some alts. I've been watching at Bitcoin since 2015 but bought only at this summer (and the last move was quite bad, I bought some BTC for $4600). I try to study, watch vids, read forum and twitters. Chris Dunn has a vid on the topic but nothing really specific. I'm interested in some ideas about what to do when prices are falling.  Sell alts and hold bitcoin? Short? (and if yes, so the next question is how to learn how to short?).

First determine if you will some portion cash out. Determine if you need urgent cash. Determine how much you need.

After this, if you never need cash money that will come from your tokens, you can keep holdin them. Selling is not reasonable now.

What I usually do if prices are falling most specially if the coins are very low, I would buy more coins from a much lower price and your total amount of couns would then be divided; the result would be lesser losses. Read or research on google about books or ebooks on trading.
For you to have a better chance to earn you would always consider the dumping price if every coin as an opportunity for you to earn because if you will buy coin in terms of the low price yoy could earn in the future regardless the price of Bitcoin when you bought it because  Bitcoin price also developing and could put resulting for a more chance of earn and a bigger profit.

I'm interested in some ideas about what to do when prices are falling.

There are 2 clear directions when the prices are falling.
1. Sell.
a. If you are not a day trader and did panic sell, you better leave this since it's not for you. Cryptos fluctuate a lot and your health is more important than some extra bucks.
b. If you are a day trader (wannabe) then you had your eyes on it and sold quick minimizing the loss; and you obviously buy back when it start rising again. Be very careful with this because you can easily end up selling cheap and buying when it's expensive.

2. Hodl.
If you trust the crypto you bought, then you trust it will have more success, you trust it'll grow even more. The hold it until it make you rich (or you believe it reached the maximum success it could). Even buy more if you afford (but never invest more than you afford to lose).

yes, this is a really good answer Smiley
even though i started investing in crypto 10 days ago. i'm hodling the shit out of my tiny portfolio Cheesy

If you did bought on bitcoin on 4600 price then the best thing to do is hodl all you can and never ever sell on loss because knowing price of bitcoin it would eventually goes up again and regarding on alts, most of them are on red now together with bitcoins price which its really the best time to buy cheaper coins. Its up to you if you do decide to sell alts and buy cheaper bitcoins.

It is base on the situation, If I need the money I have no choice to sell my coins in low price, and it comes when there's unexpected matters. And if not, I will hold my coins and wait to increase the price. Sometimes if I have a money I set my coins to the price that has enough profit. This will the strategies of other to make a huge profit, and also you did not need to spend allot of time in guarding the price.

it's a good thing that you realized that it was a bad buy at 4600$; it should have been a short. but just be patient and don't panic.

I dont think its a good Idea to sell your altcoins because if you have that once alts increase your bitcoin will grow and for sure you will earn a lot of profit in the future if you do that. You can hold bitcoin right now for shorterm because price today is 4300 dollars but you biught 4600 but you can buy again and wait the price to increase or hit 5k dollars and sell it for the shorterm but it depends to you how much do you sell.

depending on the situation,
for now,  I chose to sell altcoin and hold fiat, because my prediction btc can still go down to $ 4000.

and I will monitor the situation, and buy back if the price has reached my target

Simple answer buy the currency if the prices are going down this will increase your profit margin. And the price will surely increase after a dump. And if you already buy the currency at a higher rate then sell it if the price starts droppin.

When it falls you buy the dip. Cheesy

If you caught the panic in the beginning it's a great opportunity for making a load of money short selling, more luck than skill, sometimes there's really little time to act, if you're not online you aren't able to take advantage from the move.

If you don´t need the money right now and don´t have that much expertise in short term trading just seat tight, don´t panic and wait. Thjose three coins and probably some other on your portfolio will reach new ATH.

Of course you can sell at a loss to mantain liquidity and keep trading. but remenber if you loose , you will have to trade first to recover the loss and then beggin winning. So sometimes it´s better to relax and wait.

BTC sharks, want to "shake"  time by time newcomers or less stabile- yangster traders...

It happens in July,  when ppl start holydays...it happens right now, last weekend...
This guys need to know ,what is current "bottom line"...
Price fall is best occasion to buy, selectively of course...

There are few good news from Vietnam,India  legalizing BTC ...
rally will be back very soon hitting $5000 benchmark again, in nearest 7-10 days...IMHO

Altcoin will exist as long as Bitcoin survive,
Bitcoin will survive even though Altcoin dying.

what happen to altcoin if Bitcoin price is surging ?
the answers are sell and hold,
even though Bitcoin price is surging, doesn't mean every altcoin will goes down.
some times you will see both of them surging.
what should i do if Bitcoin price is surging ?
First, you need to know what is going on with Bitcoin and what is the trigger for this movement upward.
if you did not find anything,we can assume it's a Bulltrap which mean more likely altcoin will get pump.
and something like that.

do some research before doing something,
and remember if you hear something good about Bitcoin and the price is surging,
in the few months later you will see a 'huge' pump happen to every altcoin.
it can be happen because they're trying to accumulate more Bitcoin in order to get profit a lot in the coming bull trend

there're a lot of thing that can not be explain,
because trading has a lot of possibilities, you need to feel it and cool.
many people lose their money because of their emotion, just be cool.
if you can not do that, just hold and you will get what you deserve
