Hello. I have a folio of BTC, ETH, NEO and some alts. I've been watching at Bitcoin since 2015 but bought only at this summer (and the last move was quite bad, I bought some BTC for $4600). I try to study, watch vids, read forum and twitters. Chris Dunn has a vid on the topic but nothing really specific. I'm interested in some ideas about what to do when prices are falling.  Sell alts and hold bitcoin? Short? (and if yes, so the next question is how to learn how to short?).
If the price goes down, just wait and do not do anything. Holding is very effective way to earn more money. Hold your coins until the price of it goes so high and that is the right time to sell it.
The mistakes are often made by traders is that they panicked when the price is down
so they chose to cutloss rather than Hold. I suggest if the price is down, keep calm and don't be panic.

I think panic selling is only just for beginners ans us we should be used to this ups and downs. Like we've seen and experience these and there's nothing new how the market always behave. When the price crashes it's time to buy coins that you eye, the coins is on sale so better to grab it or you'll miss the chance. And when you won't buy just hodl it, don't sell or you regret it with your life.

For bitcoin I choose hold, for altcoin when the price falls, sometimes I choose to cut lose than holding if I hold it may not be too long unless there is good news about altcoin's plan.

There are two best things that one could do when the price of coins are falling.
1. Buy more coins to make good profit when the price recovers
2. Hold the coins so that you don't suffer from any losses
We should not panic in these king of situations. We must know that trades go like waves. It keeps on increasing and decreasing.
If we don't have any money to buy more coins then the best option would be to hold the coins as they say never sell at a loss.

There are two things to do, buy bitcoin or do cut lost to buy bitcoin in the lower price. This strategy is so simple but if we do it right we will get a lot of profit.

When the price of bitcoin is falling the just buy more bitcoin so you can have more amount of bitcoin for your own purposes like capital for trading and also if you want to get more cheaper bitcoin then you can grab those cheaper rate from the falling price to get what you want.
How could that be possible? Well, for me if bitcoin prices is falling ,I would rather continu and hold my bitcoins for the mean time and if it gets back to its normal price that's the time I'm going to trade my bitcoin. It is only a matter of strategy so that I can hi on with the faling and rising ofthe price itself. Maybe in that case it would help many of us.
Its just really a basic thing to do as a trader on which you would normally hold up your bitcoin if the price is falling.Panic would really be felt on these times but we should not really get affected to it.Instead of panic selling better to treat this price dip as a golden opportunity to buy more coins and add up the potential profits later on when the price is already recovering up.

Probably do not sell it because if you sell it for a lower price you will just lose the possible profit you really deserve. I advice that you just hold it for a long time until they will recover for the fall that they had. They will always pump if your coins are not shit coins probably have those coin whom you think have the potential to grow because you will not have a lot of profits if you invested in those kind of coins. Just think wisely and do not panic if the price falls.

When prices are falling you either hold or buy. You should sell if the price is still near the peak and then buy at the bottom of the low, to make the biggest profit.

If the prices are falling, you have three choices, buy more, hold or sell at a loss. The advise from others is to not go all-in so if you still have some funds left then you can buy more so that your price will average down and then hold till it goes back up again. If you don't have funds left then you can hold and wait for the price to reach your target profit which may take a long time but then again its important to have patience in trading. If you believe in the coin and their projects materialize in the future then it would surely go back up but if you bought a sh*tcoin and believe that it has no real purpose then you can sell at a loss or wait for others to pump the coin which may or may not happen.

Regarding OPs question of shorting, I am also interested in knowing how to profit from it so if anyone knows, please post your ideas. Thanks.

The best you can do is analyze again before making a decision, do that before you take the wrong choice. We all know the price has their own moving and sometimes make us " panic ". When the price become low, see your strategy and buy ( not sell ), I believe your strategy has buy and sell area, but if doesn't it means you're in the big problem. If the price not reach buy/ sell area than hold it, don't forget to manage the money wisely. Have a nice day.

If you're familiar with bitcoin for two years, you already know bitcoin will pay you once you wait enough. If you bought for $4600, you'll just wait for the next ATH of bitcoin. This doesn't take too much time. Selling it risky now. It can go up instantly.

HODLing is real so better not to touch it when the price crashes.
The big whales are playing so better just play with them hide and seek. Don't panic sell as the cycle always repeat itself. When the price have some dips surey thing there's a pump next to him.
You can also buy potential coins when price crashes, when the exchange is red it mean a sale day to all of us.

I'm interested in some ideas about what to do when prices are falling.

There are 2 clear directions when the prices are falling.
1. Sell.
a. If you are not a day trader and did panic sell, you better leave this since it's not for you. Cryptos fluctuate a lot and your health is more important than some extra bucks.
b. If you are a day trader (wannabe) then you had your eyes on it and sold quick minimizing the loss; and you obviously buy back when it start rising again. Be very careful with this because you can easily end up selling cheap and buying when it's expensive.

2. Hodl.
If you trust the crypto you bought, then you trust it will have more success, you trust it'll grow even more. The hold it until it make you rich (or you believe it reached the maximum success it could). Even buy more if you afford (but never invest more than you afford to lose).

Very well said! But I usually HODL, I love it when people start panicking. As the opportunist Little Finger once said "CHAOS IS A LADDER", I always look for that eureka moment despite the herding. I always believe that only a dead fish flows with the river.

Weird question. When the prices for individual coins are falling and they are not caused by the vulnerability of this coin or by other objective reasons, but are a consequence of its usual volatility, you need to buy it by investing your own free funds. This is especially true of the leaders of the crypto currency of bitcoin and the etherium, as well as old proven coins.

If prices of cryptocurrencies in which I have invested are dropping, I usually pray. No kidding. I have invested into them because I believe in their long term growth, so I try not to concern myself too much if they go a little bit down.

BTC price road to $80k

You are right, however, that it is theoretically true, in fact, that everything does not follow any rule, no one can predict anything. But it is also fair for everyone.
He got the point but if you already made a profit when the price is high and before the price become more low better to sell it and save the profit and buy bitcoins if the price reach in low price that is why there is panic selling and those who are lucky are those who are sold their bitcoin before the big price drop but if you bitcoin is still not getting profit better to hold them instead buy more  bitcoin if the price is really cheap..
Bitcoin is unpredictable and the movement of the price right now is different from the past years we are experience of more price increase due to high trends and demand.. so if there is a chance of price drop just buy and hold wait for a good time to sell or sell it if you already make profit just few percentage of all your bitcoin don't sell them all because sometimes there are times that the price can be increase more so just few is enough and save profit..

If you have some bitcoin and other altcoin what you should do when their market value is declining is to hold pending when it's value appreciate before you sell. And if you have some money at that point of down turn is the best time to buy more of the coins that has growth potential like bitcoin and hold there value appreciate again.
