This post was made some months back, after the new merit system was put in place, and up till now, the OP still hasn't earned any merits for him/herself
Well, it's not too hard to find out why until now he wasn't able to get even a single merit. As you will take a look on his post history, almost half of it is composed of bounty applications which is really disappointing. So sad for him because he's not improving 'til now. He's not yet worthy enough.

But still, props to him for not complainibg to the merit system. Anyway, he really don't have the right to complain in the first place since it's his fault for getting nothing at all Grin.

Theymos  upgraded  the rules for  merit system and he has a very good reasons for doing it, to reduce spam posts and to clean up the forum, he is  a higher rank here, he knows better what is good for the forum, so who are we to question him.  One (1) merit goes a long, long way, you will become a junior member which has a higher stake than being a newbie and a little way up to being a Member and the most important thing about one (1) merit is .. this BITCOINTALK FORUM will be cleaned of spam, senseless and irrelevant posts which is the main reason for this upgrade, by Theymos.  As for me being a Junior Member in rank, this merit system would be my motivation for really trying hard to come up with a sensible and high standard post, because  I want to rank up too.  It is good to think positive always.

I believe this post was made with the intention of getting some merits due to this is the only meaningful post op has written. A quick look at your history is filled with bounty replies. The post was attractive and I almost fell for his trick. Thank goodness I didn't judge the book by it's cover. so glad my criteria save me form encouraging you with 1merit
After this experience before I merit any user, I must do a thorough background check to prevent this mistake from happening twice.
OP take your own advise and you will receive the merits you're seeking

The New profile Rank Update system is very Good for the Future of this forum. it will clean the spam post. When I heard this news I was despondent of this. In any case, in the event that you all think and see the focuses from flying creatures see. Its very encouraging. By and by I am expressing gratitude toward to theymos for this upgrade. I trust this isn't beta form , I desire to make it stable.

Newbie Members don't free expectation, This is a good choice all things considered. Why -
Basically the discussion in this PB is about the merit system.

There are several important points that must be observed for all Bitcointalk Newbie to Legendary members in the renewal of the merit system.

√} First, about organizing Merit planning based on the function of the organization through the analysis of postings and load analysis of meaningful and good ideas, words, writings and information.

√} Second, oriented towards the best talent, every newcomer about the ban on spamer.

√} Third, capacity building in reducing competency gaps by reducing spamer. Post-based mentoring.

√} Fourth, posting an ongoing assessment by evaluating Performance dialogue and Merit & performance based incentives.

√} Fifth, information and rotation towards a dynamic Merit by means of mapping, succession & career planning talents, so that each Newbie member needs to form an internal assessor to get the best talent.

√} And sixth, appreciating appropriately with the changing compensation system that is currently implemented by bitcointalk forum.

At the level of the Bitcointalk / Meta Forum, since the form of the Merit system in 2018, various reforms have been carried out.
example:

Due to excessive garbage-posting, you now need 1 merit to be a Jr Member. All existing Jr Members who didn't meet the requirement were demoted. Also, newbies can no longer set any signature or personal text.

Note that this does not affect:
 - PM rate-limiting, which is based purely on activity & whitelisted status.
 - "You must wait ___ seconds...", which is based purely on activity & whitelisted status.
Code:
But it does affect:
 - Voting in polls
 - Patroller jurisdiction
 - The "ignore newbie PMs" option.
 - "The body is omitted from this email because the sender is a newbie."
 - BBCode limits
 - Reduced-accuracy link filtering
 - Board restrictions
Many of these limitations can be eliminated with a copper membership. In particular, you can set a signature at Member level if you wear a copper membership.

One reason that I was hesitant to do this before is that there are an awful lot of newbie restrictions, and I don't want the forum to be unwelcoming to good newbies. I'll think about tying some of those to activity instead of rank in the future.

With help from DdmrDdmr, I just added 36 new merit sources, which should help newbies achieve the requirement. But if you're incapable of posting anything worthwhile, then you will never rank up, and you shouldn't: this isn't the forum for you.

In addition to activity, everyone now has a merit score, and you need both a certain activity level and a certain merit score in order to reach higher member ranks. The required scores are:
Code:
[table][tr][td][b]Rank[/b][/td][td][b]Required activity[/b][/td][td][b]Required merit[/b][/td][/tr]
[tr][td]Brand new[/td][td]0[/td][td]0[/td][/tr]
[tr][td]Newbie[/td][td]1[/td][td]0[/td][/tr]
[tr][td]Jr Member[/td][td]30[/td][td]1[/td][/tr]
[tr][td]Member[/td][td]60[/td][td]10[/td][/tr]
[tr][td]Full Member[/td][td]120[/td][td]100[/td][/tr]
[tr][td]Sr. Member[/td][td]240[/td][td]250[/td][/tr]
[tr][td]Hero Member[/td][td]480[/td][td]500[/td][/tr]
[tr][td]Legendary[/td][td]Random in the range 775-1030[/td][td]1000[/td][/tr][/table]
You get merit points when someone sends you some for one of your posts. Additionally, when someone sends you merit points, half of those points can be sent by you to other people.

Certain users are designated as "merit sources". They can create new merit out of nothing, up to a limited number per month (which differs per source). I will not be posting a definitive list of merit sources (so that people don't bug them too much), though you'll soon figure out who they are if you pay attention.

There is currently no such thing as a "demerit". I'm hoping that the positive merits alone will be fine. I could add demerits pretty easily later on if necessary, though.

I'm hoping that this system will increase post quality by:
 - Forcing people to post high-quality stuff in order to rank up. If you just post garbage, you will never get even 1 merit point, and you will therefore never be able to put links in your signature, etc.
 - Highlighting good posts with the "Merited by" line.

While we will not be directly moderating this, I encourage people to give merit to posts that are objectively high-quality, not just posts that you agree with.

Do not beg for merit excessively.

Useful infographics

Forum users have helpfully created some infographics to explain the merit system:

If you want to be a merit source:

 1. Be a somewhat established member.
 2. Collect TEN posts written in the last couple of months by other people that have not received nearly enough merit for how good they are, and post quotes for them all in a new Meta thread. The point of this is to demonstrate your ability to give out merit usefully.
 3. We will take a look at your history and maybe make you a source.

I am especially eager to have merit sources in sub-communities such as the local sections.

Trivia:

For current members, your initial merit score is equal to the minimum required to your rank. Of that, a certain amount (less than the usual half) is spendable. The spendable amount was calculated based on your current rank and the number of activity points you earned in the last year. A Legendary member who hasn't posted in the last year would still be Legendary, but would not have any spendable merit.

If someone sends you 1 merit, the 0.5 sMerit is not wasted; it is just not shown until you get another merit point.

There are stats here, and you can find someone's merit summary by clicking the "merit" link on their profile.

I have to wonder if you are just naive and think that the forum itself is selling that merit token/coin ?? I can't remember what it is.

I think you are trying to use

Its very very simple my friend, 1st you read the rules and the 1st 10 pages of threads on meta. You then must digest all that information, then read a few more subs, find out where you fit in with your - English/Tech knowledge/Search skills - then you try to integrate in that sub and Either help people or become a valuable member,  this process takes 1-12 months dependent on your current knowledge/skills.

once the above is complete you will get regular merits. or Ignore this and End up with a few tags when you get caught buying or selling merit.

You should try to get merit in a proper manner by improving your posts quality, merit is definitely not some sort of ERC-20 tokens that are for sale, so you can totally give up the thoughts about buying merit from other users on this forum.

Just think about it a bit different:
if someone can solve his/her problem with $10, it's OK, not a big deal
but an account farmer, who farms 100s or even more accounts, it costs 100 times more, at least $1,000 to buy copper membership for the farmed accounts, to be able to continue to spam and earn with that army of spambots... (but I'm sure who has 100 farmed accounts, it's not a big deal for him to pay even a few 1000 dollars for copper membership...)

I realy cant imagine someone doing anything with 100 acc!! Only to log in and write one word with all of them is huge work  Grin

Sorry i didn't quite catch your meaning (OP), but i'm guessing in point 2 you think ICO quality will increase due to the smaller number of qualified bounty hunters. This might work well as scammers won't waste time if there is less chance of success. High rank bounty hunters can be more choosy now

Hello, I think that everything is being done to improve the forum that we love. Previously, people did not appreciate the rank of Junior Member and dreamed of the rank of Member.
In two months everyone will get used to it, and who will not be able to earn one merit reconciles and will develop their accounts such as twitter, reddit, linkedin, facebook.
I'm hard at mastering reddit.

Yes agreed , This decision is good for us . But i think many sufferers will go against the system. What will happen now ?
Nothing special will happen... There will be a flood in the Meta from newbies, complaining about the change. There will be some DDOS, from the account farmers and from those goups who had 1000s of accounts at hand, in case of need... But now we only need to let the dust settle and let newbies start to work hard to get 1 (one) merit... It won't be as hard as it seems now, but time will tell...

For whatever reason I don't recall this section being this on fire even when the merit system started, and I don't remember this many attempts by newbies to get merits.  OTOH in this case there are a lot of junior members who got the smackdown to newbie status, which they thought they had sailed through.

And do I think people like OP actually believe what they're saying about this new change being a positive thing?  Hell no.  What I'm thinking is that they're writing what they think all the merit sources want to hear.  In fact it's quite obvious that's what's happening, which is why there are so many posts from obviously awful members saying they support this.  I'm not buying it at all.

You can say the system has made the situation to get merit. Every things just got consequences.
