I'm surprised that with all the educational topics about gambling there are still compulsive gamblers among us but I'm sure they are fully aware of the risk and they know how to get out of being a compulsive gambler, I picked Conservative Gamblers like what OP indicated this is one of the safest kind of gamblers and I'm sticking to it.

I'm not and there's more of them for sure. Those who are extreme cases often won't be truthful and open about it. They will shrug it off like it's nothing and keep on gambling because in their minds they're professional gamblers, but in the real world they're compulsive Wink

Also, usually in all test groups there's that 1-5% of extreme cases, which proves that the survey had pretty normal results.
A forum with all the educational topics won't make you stop gambling just like a medical forum won't heal you.

[My personal view is that no gambling addict visits the forum and spends time browsing the topics and enjoying joining the discussions. I expect that most gambling addicts do not have high degrees and have limited intelligence.

This is one of the gambling fallacies that most gambling addicts do not have high degrees and have limited intelligence.  Anyone can be a gambling addict regardless of their education and intellectual capability. Another thing is that when a gambling addict wanted to treat his addiction he often searches for information, and from that he might stumble on forums and articles and spend his time looking for information to treat his gambling addiction.

If they were really doing this (joining btt forum), they certainly wouldn't become addicted. The most they will do is look for bonus campaigns launched by some casinos or the "Games and Rounds" sub-section.

I disagree, I bet some of the members here have already experienced some sign of gambling addiction.  So basically joining any forum won't help us prevent gambling addiction unless we retraint ourselves and moderate our gambling activities.

Don't expect all of them to be honest to share their status in the poll. It is natural that they do not have the time to learn about such topics and participate in discussions. In the best case, they will know what kind they belong to, and it may be encouraging for them to know that the majority here practice gambling as a hobby or with enough wisdom.
Gambling is supposed to be fun and not develop into a habit because problems start then.

Of course, not all respondents will fill out this survey according to what actually happened to them. but if you look at the 3% of compulsive gamblers and 1 personality gambler, I'm sure they filled out the survey honestly. This poll can serve as a temporary reference even though the number of voters is only 69 members.
the rest maybe other members are not interested in taking the survey or they have concerns if they turn out to be gambling addicts.
As you said, gambling should be a fun thing and not develop into an over-the-top habit that could fall into the category of compulsive gambler.

We should also consider that some of the respondents could be in denial of their true gambling status. They can be compulsive gamblers already but would still deny it because they do not want others to know or just won't accept to themselves that they already are.

Anyway, they cannot take too much from the survey because the sample size is too small to reflect the real status of gamblers in the forum. But I am still glad that there are some honest people that admitted they are compulsive gamblers. Maybe we can help them recover from being compulsive gambler if they could come out.

The end point of it is money, all this people who plays gamble what come to their mind is to earn money.
That is the reason many gamblers are losing, or become addicted to gambling. But this can be different from individual to individual. If I lose while gambling, I am not sad at all, I am happy, but if I win, I have almost the same feeling. Although, winning makes gambling to be more fun because I can use the money won to buy other things. How much money I often win? It is not much because I gamble with just little amount of money like $10 or less weekly. So the money I won from gambling is just for fun and nothing more. Most people can have the mind of thinking that they want to earn while gambling, but I am not one of them at all, but I do not want to lose too.

First of all if you are in the classification you should definitely start questioning yourself. I think it is unnecessary to categorize gambling addiction. Because if you are addicted, there is no class and you should get help from your loved ones. You shouldn't gamble to make money, but everyone prefers to double their money. In the end, it turns into a disappointment that the table wins. Use it for fun, not to make money. But I don't think most people will understand this. So if you are addicted to gambling do not classify yourself and immediately seek help from your loved ones.

It depends on many factors, however I agree if you see yourself in the lower number which is gambling addiction you should definitely seek professional help more than help from friends and family. Most people try to win money at gambling and they go there without a plan or a set bankroll and thus keep playing with false hopes of winning until they lose everything, this category is the one who is the most vulnerable to become compulsive and addicted gamblers.

I personally play with a set bankroll,I have no limit for the upside as I want to hit the maximum pay line but if I lose my set bankroll I immediately quit and this has helped me so far to not become addicted.

Some people are addicted to gambling, the categorizing is in stages of people that are not addicted to the people that are most addicted, there is nothing bad in that. But it is true that is if anyone is addicted, they should seek for family and medical help. But this poll is fun and we can be able to know what type of gamblers we are on this forum.

We can't control ones behavior and belief towards gambling.
Only addicts can not control their behavior towards gambling, that is the meaning of addiction, but others can, that is why the are not addicted. Like me, I can because I am not addicted to gambling.

It's normal to have a classification for gamblers to know what type of addict they are in gambling. Yes, addiction is addiction and in no means, it's harmful to the person being involved. And that's why these classifications are existing to know the cause and behavior of the people that are experiencing and dealing with gambling addiction. It's true, that gambling shouldn't be your gateway to make money but this topic will be repetitively being said and people won't stop thinking about it the way you are telling that they should just stop. We can't control ones behavior and belief towards gambling.

I have observed all the above categories of gamblers but I could not include myself in all the categories. Because I am in one of those categories where no gamblers are in the category. Especially when I get big profit I involve myself in gambling and when I face loss I avoid that category.

There's a poll and even though it wont really be that precise on where you do belong but you arent that dumb nor blind on where you could able to place yourself into those selection above. Some might be lying and

majority would really be that realistic and sticking on what they are currently doing.Basing up on the poll results which do show that most of us here on this forum are casual gamblers but you wont know

on whose are heavy type or whale gamblers which i do believe that they would really be just keeping on silent and keep it secret.

poll results show that users on this forum are mostly Casual social gamblers. but somehow I'm confused about which type is the most suitable for me. I gamble maybe only once a week and maybe only once a month. But I think my tendency to gamble is due to an invitation from a close friend so that it generates interest for a certain period of time. maybe I agree with the opinion of @coupable where the results of this poll are not real because they just choose at will without researching deeper into what type is most suitable to be chosen.

Getting a grip of oneself when enjoying the winnings is kinda hard.  I experienced it myself when I was winning and suddenly a losing streak hits me.  Even with the knowledge of chasing losses is a bad thing, I still do it.  I am in the verge of getting hooked but I am glad that I realized what I am doing early enough to stop myself from being a gambling addict.  I immediately shutdown myself from all gambling activities until I feel that I am in full control again.

I was expecting that relief and escape gamblers are much higher because this is what busy people usually do. They use gambling to have a temporary escape from stress. I don't have a comment on the other two category but for the last one which is compulsive gambler, we must be glad because there's only 2 of them. It shows that many people already learned that excessive gambling is bad.

Thanks for that quick breakdown of the poll results. I am curious if who is that 2 pro gamblers. If only they will reveal themselves then maybe we can ask for tips if how to improve our game. About that 36 people who voted for social gambling, I guess they don't have a life outside or a job because they can manage to hang most of the time in gambling places only to socialize with other gamblers.

Already you weren't able to make a big win out of gambling, then it is good to take a break than just looking for financial freedom out of gambling. When you're into financial struggle, gambling is not the right choice. I've experienced similar situation, and I'm trying the take a break than just trying to recover what I've lost. Gambling brings good only to the luckiest.
That's correct - and that is something I needed strongly. Made my day.
I have lost a big amount and I am still disturbed and restless for not being able to digest what has happened to me .. but sometime we have to accept what's not yours go from our hand. Like a bird. God give me patience. Thanks.

Restless betting can lead you to more losses which might make your situation worse. If you're struggling with your finances, gambling isn't the right alternative for you to recover. You better stay away from it especially if you're holding funds that you can't afford to lose. Gambling has risks and is mainly for entertainment purposes. Not everyone can be lucky in gambling so keep out of it if you're starting to feel unlucky in it.

Normally when something like this happens, the best thing is to have self-control, I know some cases where restless bets have made them lose a lot of money, and people who don't fall for it continue to lose, and the worst thing is that when people lose in that way they have left a "pique" against the game, and they don't know well when they keep trying to win, this is something that is very dangerous because it can lead to total addiction. When there are people who are very easy to manipulate these things, they tend to fall into these types of traps, I usually call them traps because it is an easy way to make them lose money.

I gamble for fun and I love it when I gamble because it keeps me busy, and it also gives me hope on the fact that I may win.Addicted gamblers are the ones that can go extra miles in making sure they gamble for that day. This is bad because the addiction is what makes them commit criminal activities, turn them in to despirados and makes them useless. When addiction comes in,the next thing that follows is frustration. You cannot be an addicted gambler, and you will be able to do something tangible in life, because every money you have, you want to put it into gambling and that is exactly what will wrecks you.
I gambled for almost six months. I was in deep financial trouble when I started gambling and than I was so unlucky that I was in more financial trouble than before.
Because my luck did not work in gambling and I never won. I started working 2 jobs and finally I paid off my debt.
