I fail to see the benefit of pre-ordering a game. Why not just buy it when it comes out? You can download instantly on steam or whatever; it's not like back in the day when you had to go to the STORE and they could RUN OUT lol.

Companies are trying to lure in pre-orders by offering crappy "special content" for people who pre-order but I'm still not biting.

Exactly, some try to lure you with "early access" and "bonus this and that", but all in all Id rather buy a finished game than a promisse of a game that might be different. On the other hand: some indy devs might need the money to finish the game. Its a difficult decission sometimes.

I am not against the concept of crowd-sourcing development costs, which has been done and is being experimented with by some smaller developers. But to me that's different than some multi-million dollar company saying "give me your $60 now, we will release the game 3 months later than expected with a shitload of bugs, and um.... give you a special horse that no one else can get!"

Unfortunately gamers are the only ones that cane change this (just don't buy the game thats not finished).
Similarly with the DLC. A small part of the game is being cut  out (a character or some quests), and then being sold as the DLC (Some DLCs are coming out at the same date as the actual game!).

Yep, vote with your money, dont buy unfinished games and 0-day DLC. Its hard sometimes, If you are hyped about a game and want to play it right now.

Command & Conquer that i love to prefer to play.

Unfortunately late versions of C&C suck hard. Oldschool on the other hand are awesome.

I think C&C was my first RTS. I remember waaaay back in the day, downloading a demo of it which was like 50mb, back then we had dialup so I'd leave it downloading overnight and it would fail part-way through, then I'd try again the next night... I did this for like a week before it finally finished. I played that freaking demo over and over. Pure awesome.

Any oldschool mac users out there (I mean from back before Mac's were cool you fucking dorks) remember escape velocity / escape velocity override? (If escape velocity nova was your first EV game then you do not count.)

I hate computer games and video games.
I would play only poker on the PC, if this counts as a computer game.

Why do you hate video games? There are lots of great games out there.

I've played a bunch of games, some of them more typically female-dominated, some of them not at all. I used to pay Nexus TK: Kingdom of the Winds while growing up - that was an MMORPG. It was still male-dominated but there were more female characters there than usual.

I've been playing games on various different platforms for as long as I can remember. Some of my favourites have been Monkey Island, Fable 2, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Diablo 2, World of Warcaft, Hugo's House of Horrors, Jill of the Jungle, Word Rescue, The Sims 3, Lego Batman (and the other lego games), Discworld, Warcraft 2, Theme Hospital, Day of the Tentacle, Walking Dead and lots more I've forgotten.

I once played "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2", it was amazing. I liked how everything looked so realistic and pretty
I think Black Ops 2 looks really plastic-ish and fake (which it is, since it's made in a computer). MW2 looks a lot better IMO.

You might be, but it's still an awesome game. While I haven't played GTA V, I can say San Andreas is my favorite of the GTA series!
But my favorite Rockstar production is Red Dead Redemption. That is an awesome game!

too bad not on pc
Soon you will be able to buy a used PS3 or Xbox 360 for no money at all. Then you can play it! Smiley

I currently play GTA: San Andreas. A little old fashioned I am.
one of my favorite open world game, the old GTA : San Andreas Grin
and i love GTA : vice city too
Yeah, but you will never know when the next game of the series goes bad. I preordered Duke Nukem 4ever, because DN3D was awesome. Shouldnt have done that. You might say that AC Series or Far Cry had no 10 year break, but still: you cant know when the series goes bad.
yeah agree.
game series not always good like previous
that's why i always learn about that game before pre order
if i think that game will be good, i'll pre order that game Grin
if i can't decide it, so i will wait until release date and see review about that game

+1 preordered this game Smiley
nice, i want to preorder this game too
maybe next week Grin

Waiting for it as well. Haven't preordered since preorders are generally a bad idea. It's better to buy once it has been reviewed and released.
why bad idea? i've preordered another ubisoft game before, like assassin's creed series and far cry 3
no problem at all
