I would like to agree on that. During this pandemic, where almost all of the industries and activities had to shift from physical to online form, online gambling is undoubtedly one of those industries that have been successfully transitioned to the online space. And with that, it is not surprising that its patronage continuously increases, especially with the rise of those who are being interested to gamble, and those indulging with crypto as well.

The gambling industry will always stay profitable, however, regulations will be stricter especially in poor countries, but in rich countries where most people can afford to gamble, they will just likely increase the taxes so the government will benefit from the industry. With the popularity of crypto gambling as well, it gives the regulators more opportunity to earn and the entire industry will grow as gambling across borders made possible and easy with cheap transaction cost.

I think with the further development of blockchain technology and meta universes we will see more and more online casinos where AR/VR can be used and all bets in the game will be fully verifiable with smart contracts and Oracles. The idea is that this should attract even more people to gambling.

Here in the United States gambling has gone the way of marijuana legalization and has started easing gambling requirements greatly and in a hurry. I’m from the state of Illinois and it’s been adding gambling options in a hurry. Damn near every gas station here has slot machines. My prediction is this spreads to every other state and quickly. Sports stadiums will also likely allow for in game betting soon as well !

Surely online gambling is on the rise in the past 10 years and in the last 5years, the attention to gambling is massive.

It is true to say gambling is on the increase and if we want a confirmation to that, this forum is evident of that as the campaigns that have opened here in the last 3 years are gambling sites, at least if not all of them except few like chipmixer.

Moreso gambling is an area of life for youths majorly between 15 - 24 so it enjoys huge patronage from the youth. And one reason that gambling is on the rise is because of this patronage, every investor likes ROI.

Gambling is a popular pastime for adults, whether it is purchasing lotto tickets, betting on sports games or casino-style gambling. Unsurprisingly, internet gambling has also become popular; it is so popular that in the fall of 2011, comScore found that online gambling was the fastest growing online category, with almost 10 million U.S. users.

Global online gambling is now worth an estimated $30 billion. And online poker is estimated to be worth $6 billion annually in the US alone, as the Justice Department has apparently opened the door to internet gambling by reversing their longtime position that online poker and betting was illegal.

This trend of gambling increase may continue longer because the population of youth in the world is on the increase. For example according to Population Fact

Now with the covid-19 pandemic every business is trying to establish presence online too with some having mobile office online and gambling is not far from such business. This can not be extricated from the fact we know covid-19 protocols and the need for social distancing. Gambling will therefore continue to be on the rise with the increase of her highest patronage (the young adults) in the world.

Its predetermined already that gambling might also be massive when metaverse is finally realized. The business will be booming once it happens, kind of more enjoyable when it's more realistic while we are just at home playing it. Pretty much this is really where the next big move of every big tech company today.

If engaging in online casinos or sports betting in metaverse equates to being an audience in the sports arena, it will be more like sci-fi movies such as Player one. Every casino online will probably develop to be part of the metaverse.

Let's dedicate a little time to see the last decade headlines on gambling and business (or rather the business of gambling):

https://medium.com/@visualmodo/online-gambling-history-18caa7ec7758

Some headlines:

- Online sports betting sites come to live in the middle of 90s. These have evolved massively (online poker did not even have graphics at first).

- Regulations on gambling are clarified and old laws reinterpreted
Quote
The Wire Act prohibits the electronic transmission of information for sports betting, but a 2002 ruling crucially ruled that “in plain language” it does not prohibit internet gambling on a game of chance

- In 2019, Disney generated around 55B. The gambling industry 59B.

Gambling industry is on the move in the last years. Legalisation across Europe and USA has forged new empires, online gaming has received all the positive impacts from COVID confinements and it seems that is going to be plenty of consolidation in the future. What is your personal bet on the next big events in the betting industry?
