That would be a big change in terms of adoption for bitcoin. I don't know though if they will be considering or plan to accept bitcoin since if you all can remember, Steam accepted bitcoin for some time but stopped accepting it because of the transaction fees and maybe its volatility.
Volatility is the main driving force on why bitcoin is not yet integrated on most businesses. In a business perspective, I wouldn't want to give the advantage to the customer, and to make a system that updates with the current bitcoin prices is very taxing for an e-commerce website. I do think that Paypal's integration is different than Amazon because they are different type of business.

I agree that many would be confused by this because in many places bitcoin's and many people are unaware of bitcoin's lack of legitimacy even if amazon accepts bitcoin it will take a long time for it to be introduced because most people are more inclined to transact through cash. The government will not support because it has no control blockchains allow digital transactions without any middlemen such as banks lawyers or any social network like ebay or amazon this is because blockchain transactions are made up of rule based steps or blocks which only progress automatically once the transaction is completed at the pre established stage.

Other people will be confused on what bitcoin what really is when Amazon will start accepting bitoin but i don't that this too far from the reality, However Company like this and other company are not accepting this kind of payment method. Also they already saw that paypal already had done job into bitcoin market and if this kind of situation saw then maybe Ceo Jeff will consider it as one of payment method but i say earlier lot of people will be confuse but then the good thing here is it will become more popular and will grow more.

If Amazon accepted Bitcoin it would be incredible. I have declined Amazon gift cards because I preferred to claim my payment with Bitcoin. I imagine that Amazon would notably increase its sales. There is a total skepticism because Bitcoin is not accepted on Amazon, the most possible reason is that its CEO Jeff Bezos does not like Bitcoin. But what will happen when Bitcoin is massively accepted? Amazon would have to reconsider.

If they saw that PayPal had influenced the market, Amazon might not be doing that instead to push themselves and work on crypto. With growing numbers of crypto users and companies that accepting Bitcoin, it will be their consideration to offer such kind of services. This opportunity that the pandemic brought to us is the way also it helps for known and big companies will adopt the system otherwise, it gives an option as well for the people to choose others where they can maximize their Bitcoin.

Those outside the USA correct me please, but some combo of the above should work to get a product off Amazon ...even if Amazon does not take BTC/Crypto yet.

The way Amazon works is it sets up centers that manage shipping within an area of neighboring countries.

Like in the EU you have amazon.de, amazon.co.uk and so on. These sites handle all the EU traffic and have warehouses in many countries, even those that don't have their own domains set up for amazon.

The easiest way to get a product from amazon is with a gift card code. You could buy those for bitcoin for years now. I think I used BTC to buy amazon codes first time in 2017.
The codes add to your amazon account balance and you can use it to buy whatever you need. Balances don't transfer between amazon sites so if you are using amazon.de, you can't buy something from amazon.com

Although Amazon and Paypal are different industries, but Paypal is one of the largest platforms in the world, so Paypal accepting Bitcoin
will definitely make Amazon a little bit affected and consider accepting Bitcoin too. We all can't predict the future, so don't be too sure
Amazon won't accept Bitcoin, anything can happen. Even before I did not believe Paypal could accept Bitcoin, because Paypal is known as
a Bitcoin hater, but now Paypal has finally changed its mind and officially accepts Bitcoin. I'm sure the same will happen to Amazon too.

Clueless!

From what I understand...most?...countries can purchase Amazon products...I'm unsure if 'free or reduced' shipping applies..but I'm pretty sure you can buy

Amazon anywhere. Again, correct me if I am wrong and you are overseas and cannot in some manner.

So with PayPal accepting BTC....and being able to get a debit card from coinbase or wherever....exchange (others) that offer same..

IF you are part of the 'unbanked' in the world, can you not simply do a KYC with your passport on an exchange like coinbase..get a debit card...

convert BTC to USD and use debit card on Amazon anyway?

I'd assume with Paypal offering a to take BTC....you at least could use the manner to take perhaps some shitty high inflation currency (Venezuela) and

convert it to BTC on Paypal...and at least guard in case of inflation of your shitty fiat currency from some countries and then use such to buy

products via PayPal and BTC purchase on Amazon?

Anyway...I'm supposing a lot above, but it has to be a lot easier to simply do a KYC get PayPal account and get BTC on PayPal to HODL or whatever and

at 'worst' convert it to USD to use in a manner you could get on selling sites like Amazon that used to be beyond your scope?

Those outside the USA correct me please, but some combo of the above should work to get a product off Amazon ...even if Amazon does not take BTC/Crypto yet.

I would 'suspect' as an aside, as happy as PayPal is about taking BTC and folks just planting it on their site for now, to HODL or eventually sell...Amazon

could probably offer the same kind of thing...you can HODL BTC at the price you bought and use it to buy stuff in the PayPal manner....anyway....thus my

guess

Amazon accepting bitcoin would be fantastic and could help.push the price to the sky. Although Amazon may be waiting for a more scalable bitcoin before accepting it, but not to accept bitcoin as a means of alternative payment could be suicidal in the long run when all.competitors finally incorporate bitcoin.

That’s a decision they are going to make for themselves. I believe this news of them accepting Bitcoin must have gotten to them already, and they have seen other giant companies invest in and accept Bitcoin, they are seeing all that has been happening, I guess they just decided it’s best for them to not get themselves involved now.

Moreover, I want to get where some people are getting at with this, is it that they want amazon to invest in Bitcoin or they want them to accept it on their website, because investing and accepting it are two different things. I am seeing some people saying that they want Amazon to invest in Bitcoin, while what we actually want is for them to accept it on their platform.

I believe Amazon will hop on, but fiat will be the main thing anyway, especially in retail. We might get a price bump at start, but not much after that
I think the trend is probably that they will partially accept bitcoin as a new method of payment in the years to come as Bitcoin will be recognized as a legitimate asset.
Despite the Bitcoin being recognized  by Paypal and also integrated as one of their payment methods is too early to decide Bitcoin to be used as a legitimate asset because this was one of the reasons why some government and institutions don't want to support or legalize Bitcoin but Paypal integration of Bitcoin have already make 96% of all online shops to acknowledge Bitcoin.

Big companies that usually have online transactions will be one of the prospects for this. Amazon? They are soon to adopt crypto as well just like what other companies did. They are unto the competition and it's their choice to make a change otherwise, they will be left behind from the race.

We can't deny such interest, they know surely what will happen if they into the adoption. May it can't realize this time but probably, in the next days. There is no way to skip these chances, this is a big boost for their companies since people are now using Bitcoin for online payment and any transacting businesses.

I don't think Amazon will accept bitcoins as payment on their e-commerce...
jeff Bezos is not that interested in Bitcoin, maybe they are not currently planning to accept Bitcoin as payment because the regulations in the US on Bitcoin are still unclear.
how do you know that he isn't interested, I'd believe on you more if you can show me an article that Jeff states his opinion on btc but people can change .
I know a top personality that don't accept btc at first but later they shocked the public and we find out that btc is now a part of thier business .
Maybe the reason on why they didn't accept btc is because of regulation , there's no need to rush because if they push it that can be the reason for thier business to go bad

personally, I find it difficult to make transactions with cross-border merchants or service providers that have limited payment options. I usually need to find a third-party service provider for that. amazon should consider crypto, or at least cooperate with a custodial crypto payment gateway for that.

however, with Paypal starts "accepting" bitcoin, it can be a bridge to let you buy stuff on Amazon with crypto.
I found this on Paypal website: https://www.paypal.com/us/smarthelp/article/how-do-i-check-out-with-paypal-on-amazon-faq3899

Quote
While Amazon does not directly accept PayPal payments, there are workarounds that allow you to use your PayPal account to buy on Amazon.

To use PayPal as a payment option on Amazon, you can use your PayPal Cash Card, PayPal Business Debit Mastercard or PayPal Key.

We have the bridge now, PayPal.
now we could expect PayPal to push "their adoption" to let bitcoin holders on Paypal uses this "bitcoin" as a currency.

Depends on which part of Amazon.
The retail side will more or less have to convert BTC to fiat. They have tight margins and are always growing / expanding so they need to keep cash moving.
So it might give a boost to the price on the announcement but after that not much.

On the AWS side, they might do some arbitrage and sit on it for a bit till the price goes up before selling, but they really can't just sit on it like cash in the bank.

-Dave

We know they will have to convert but the best part is the news about acceptance. Many people, especially those who don't own any bitcoins will not even understand how this works, for them the important part will be news of growing acceptance indicating an opportunity to buy.

If you saw those two words Amazon and Bitcoin together all you'd probably think is how much the price is going to surge if PayPal managed to achieve so much in such a short time.

New investors will not look for a way to spend bitcoins that they don't have.

It will be a matter of time, I am pretty sure that Amazon will surely to accept bitcoin or other crypto currencies out there once they are ready for it. Right now the move of PayPal will surely to create a big impact especially to Amazon as they are the global leader in e-commerce.

If Amazon will start accepting bitcoin, I am pretty sure that bitcoin price will surely to skyrocket and it will be the time that monopolizing the bitcoin price  will become difficult especially for the big whales out there. Let's just wait, maybe 1-5 years from now we will be shock that Amazon is already starting to accept a crypto payment.
