Topic: What will happen to unconfirmed transaction (Read 5665 times)

Unconfirmed transactions remain in the pool for a while waiting for a miner to include them in a block, that would be long for low fees transactions, then after a while (usually 3 days to a week) the transfer disappear and the coins are again spendable in the sending address as all the nodes reset, This won't happen if your wallet rebroadcast the transaction infinitely, then the transaction will stay stuck until included in a block.

EDIT:

OK, after some gnashing of teeth, cursing, and a bit of Googling, I got PyWallet installed and removed the transaction. Blockchain.info flags it as a double spend (which it is...) but it's getting confirmed and just showed up as pending in my receiving account. Fingers crossed but...

:-)

Thank you ranochigo for the -zapwallettxes command, it's looking like the wallet is back to a pre unconfirmed transaction state.

Cheers!

Here is transaction: https://blockchain.info/tx/4a0ea407b4f48d0bd46d212ce390af7acc2eba5fa863be289b0a9b893ec2d36a

Please i need some detail, when i was looking it said network propagation 90% good but after sometime it says 0% propagation and the priority changed to midium priority from high. Huh
Size:    1629 (bytes) , You've paid ~12 satoshi for each byte. currently 15-30 sat per byte tx'es are getting confirmed primarily.
That's your problem, currenty 8k+ unconfirmed transactions are waiting to be confirmed.
Lol that is pretty funny. It doesn't matter what the fee is. It just needs to be the "correct" fee for the amount of Bitcoin you are sending. I find that 40k satoshi works well for me on most of my transactions. You just need to find your own sweet spot.

LOL, yes.

The probabilistic nature of your funds reaching there destination in a timely manor is a big part of the fun of the Bitcoin.

Bitcoin Core automatically rebroadcast the transaction and prevent it from dropping out of the mempool. You need to use -zapwallettxes to remove the unconfirmed transaction and get it to stop rebroadcasting. You can then send it with a higher fee after a while.

The steps on Windows are here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.13273042

Thank you also for this command.

I have also this transaction that was stuck on my wallet, and I'm waiting to be confirmed. Will follow instruction on the link given for windows. How about for the orphan transaction? same command?

miners are getting greedy when a 9cent fee only gets you medium priority (within 6 blocks)

MoFo's

i think at some point the low fee, which right now is a great selling point, will soon not be its selling point anymore when pools are getting very picky.

isn't it not that miners are getting greedy but people are simply setting higher fees or have I misunderstood?
Miners aren't getting greedy, at least from my perspective. the mempool has gotten much much bigger over the past few days and people are paying higher fee due to that. Since miners rank the transactions based on fee/size, the higher fee/size would have a higher probability of getting into a block. Since there are lots of people using an average/ higher than average fee, paying the average fee would likely not make the cut.

As I said in my post, this was an older version of BitcoinCore (v0.11.0) and the transaction fee was set at it's default value.

The question is, can I get my coins back into my wallet? Everyone here keeps claiming that unconfirmed transactions automatically get returned to the sender's wallet, but after more than a month, that looks highly unlikely. I'm happy to tip a reasonable fee to get the transaction to go thru, or whatever to get them returned to my wallet, but I'm at a loss to what to do currently.

I'm not savvy enough / well versed in any of the double spending hacks I've seen mentioned to really attempt that without some serious guidance.

Suggestions?

I suspect that his client keeps rebroadcasting the transaction. You need to zap the unconfirmed transactions from the client on start-up, and the transaction will fall out of mempools after 72hrs, and can be sent again with a bigger fee.

I want to know answer to that question too. I never experienced situation where my transaction were stuck unconfirmed for more than 12 hours.
But if you are saying that yours is stuck for over a month then this situation becomes ludicrous IMO. And I don't know if that's possible.

Can you post transaction ID, please?

I hope your coins will be returned to you but I'm not sure about that. Why did you include such a small transaction fee, 0.0000146 BTC? I always include 0.0001 BTC and all goes fine.

I stand with Ukraine.
I have an unconfirmed transaction sitting in limbo since 5/9/2016. Nothing has returned to my wallet / account.

The transaction ID has dropped off the radar everywhere I've checked:

Transaction ID: 1be2fdb7716ec211ab8aaf65f3433285d80f204c65f029ae4a082be83bb34082-000

I was emptying out the last of an old account and sending it to another account of mine using Bitcoin Core, an older version, and had not looked to see what the transaction fee was set to, and apparently it's too low. Transaction was for 0.10011500 BTC, with a fee of 0.0000146 BTC. The account was seldom used and had worked fine apx three months ago, so I had no reason to adjust anything.

It appears I'm just out the money with no recourse.

I only dabble here and there, and once the little usb mining nodes became outdated, I stopped mining.

Is there anything I can do to recover this money? It not the end of the world, but $68 bucks still buys a couple of tanks of gas....

I hope your coins will be returned to you but I'm not sure about that. Why did you include such a small transaction fee, 0.0000146 BTC? I always include 0.0001 BTC and all goes fine.

I am really scared to see one of my transaction not getting confirm within 2 hour now, i have paid around 0.12+BTC which is 55$ for deposit via bitpay. But this transaction is not yet confirmed and i have also payed 20000 satoshi as fee.

I am so worried, but i remember if it can't get confirmation after 24 hour it get returned. IS this true? please reply i am so scared. Cry Undecided

EDIT: transaction get confirmed after 261 minute but that make problem with deposit as neteller said Transaction request expired. Bitpay says neteller accepted it. Waiting for neteller reply now. Feeling scared to use bitpay accepting service again. Huh

EDIT: I just get my neteller account credited today. Thanks neteller and bitpay for their extremely super support. I got my money today feeling happy  Cheesy Cheesy

Well, sometimes the bitcoin network is just really slow and you've just gotta cope with the traffic jam. Sometimes there are bitcoin network "tests" which floods the network and makes it slow.

Or perhaps you sent with too little fee.

Don't worry, it's just about blockchain. Some transactions confirmed about 2-5 hours or maybe 1 day. Don't be scared Smiley They will not get that to you. :
