The founder left this coin a long time ago and has left the community in a not so great manner. There was name calling involved calling the Bitcoin community a bunch of libertarian hos or something like that.

Hi INRI666, thanks for your feedback. First time I hear about this. The founder sounds like a real douche to me. At least people are still committed to the coin despite his actions. I wonder why he left?

I am aware that Dogecoin has already been worth much more in earlier years, but it is still impressive that the currency remains among the top 20 in market capitalization. I think that the problem is that the trading volume is very low, and the number of companies investing in projects related to Dogecoin is also limited, compared to the top 10 in coinmarketcap.

Actually it seems more likely to see a gradual devaluation in this altcoin that could lead it from the current price to a couple of satoshis. We can see in all graphs this gradual and consistent decrease, and I don't know how this trend could change since this altcoin is very irrelevant and don't provide any special feature in the altcoin world.

I also had lot of dogecoins collected from faucets. I kept it on my wallet for long, but finally I decided to exchange it to bitcoin. I don't have dreams that doge price can reach moon. I remember that not long time doge was one of the top coins on Coinmarketcap, now it's only 17th. But I don't think that dogecoin can die. It still have many users, stable price.
I think some problems of dogecoin is that coin was created for a Doge meme, but meme was popular short time. Dogecoin transactions is very cheap and fast, but I think coin supply is too big.

I've been collecting a shit ton of Dogecoin from faucets and I was wondering if any of you guys might have some insights on the future value of this altcoin. I don't want to exchange it because of a potential increase in the value and I really like the meaning behind the altcoin.

Some speculate the coin will die out but I don't think this will happen, I hope this won't happen Smiley. As long as the coin is in circulation I don't think it will die out. The price could drop if demand decreases but I believe if more people embrace the coin and more online stores begin to accept the coin as a form of payment then the price should start to rise because of an increase in demand.

I would appreciate any thoughts on this topic. Thanks guys

In my opinion, I don't think Dogecoin will survive that long. The Project is already at a stand still and It has now become a traditional gambling coin... No more no less. Sooner or later, It'll be replaced by new innovative Cryptocurrencies. I'm not entirely sure though. We'll just have to wait, 2020 is just three years ahead.

Well for me much more cheaper than the present price right now .. since there is no adoption happen with dogecoin and i cant see development about this project.. but maybe if those developers will take an action to push it back to high value..  since i am still holding dogecoin and waiting for the price increase..

Dogecoin is managing to maintain a position in the market that many currencies have not been able to maintain for long. Part of this is probably due to the active community, and Dogecoin's popularity.

True that ~V~
When I first started with cryto-currencies the only coins I knew about or heard anything about was bitcoin and dogecoin. It was only when I started to research these two coins that I started to find out more about other altcoins that exist. I agree that there is an active community around dogecoin and I don't think these guys would sit back and see something they admire just die out. In my honest opinion I don't think this will happen anytime soon. Thanks for your feedback ~V~
You're welcome. These two cryptocurrencies, along with Litecoin, are the first to be presented to most users entering the cryptocurrency space. Almost every exchange has listed Bitcoin, Dogecoin and Litecoin, so I think your experience is similar to that of many other users. Regards

I hope so too ipanks, I remember doge was 300 satoshi when it was launched and now its trading at 22 satoshi. Thats a 99% reduction in the price since the early days of the altcoin. I'll be happy if the price could reach 35 satoshi before the end of this year. But with the limited supply which INRI666 made me aware of I don't know if this would be possible. Lets hope for the best guys Cheesy
It is difficult for a cryptocurrency to keep up with a high marketcap when there are no improvements capable of attracting a large portion of BTC users, such as the anonymity present in Monero, or the ability to develop projects on top of smart-contract platforms. Even so, Dogecoin is managing to maintain a position in the market that many currencies have not been able to maintain for long. Part of this is probably due to the active community, and Dogecoin's popularity.

it ain't unlimited YET, an' demand could go up.

Just like Huge Black Woman said, dogecoin doesn't have unlimited supply YET. I think the supply of the coin will get tested in the future when the reward miners receive doesn't justify the effort they put into mining the coin and when this happens the supply will be affected and the price might get affected as well. When this happens I want to make sure of one thing, I want to make sure I have a shit load of dogecoin in my wallet Cheesy

now imagine by 2020, the price is lower, the difficulty is higher, (i am not sure about how mining reward works i think it is fixed), and the blockchain of Dogecoin is huge. in this case miners will quit, the full nodes disconnect, the security of the coin is compromised, with a couple of double spends it dies.

So in actual fact I don't think the coin has infinite supply in the real world. It does however have infinite supply based on the algorithm (hope you understand what I'm trying to say). If the miners eventually decide to stop mining the altcoin then that means the supply of dogecoin will be impacted and might even stop but then there will still be dogecoin in circulation.

Because of this dogecoins becomes scarce and as a result price gets affected positively because more people might start to deem the coin more valuable because of the limited supply that exist at that moment in time. So I think I might be going crazy Cheesy or I think the price of dogecoin will eventually increase when this happens.

Thanks for your feedback Red-Apple

p.s. your question belongs to altcoin speculation board by the way.

Sorry about this, how do I move the question to the right board?

You have the unlimited supply to blame for that. The only thing saving it is the Litecoin merge mine. If it wasn't for that they would be 51% attacked and taken over.

Why would the dev team make it so the coin have an unlimited supply. Did they not know this would greatly affect the price of the coin? Thanks for the feedback INRI666.
Ahm sho' they knew, they ain't stupid.  'Least no mo' stupid than yo average shitcoin developer.   Ah hafta say tho', tha price could still go up,  cause even tho supply is gon' be unlimited,  it ain't unlimited YET, an' demand could go up.  Ain't sayin' it will, jist thet it COULD.   I likes it mahself fo' gamblin'.

I would love to see doge coin make new heights in 2018 and in the coming years, but because of its unlimited and huge supply, I don't expect it to rise significantly. But you can never say what will happen in the world of cryptos and since doge has a vibrant community, it is good to add to the portfolio.

i do have dogecoin and still hold it but honestly i'm not interested to exchange my dogecoin because the price was so low but even the demand decreases but this coin still survive on many exchanges and some people still considering to buy and hold even most of traders predict this coin wouldn't last long but i believe dogecoin still exist at least for next 2 years and regarding your questions that if dogecoin still exist on 2020 i think the price at range 30-50 satoshi

by then dogecoin is most probably no longer around.
the price started from a very high price (i also remember 300+ price like my above comment) and it has been falling hard.
now imagine by 2020, the price is lower, the difficulty is higher, (i am not sure about how mining reward works i think it is fixed), and the blockchain of Dogecoin is huge.

i hope dogecoin price will be increase and gets pump like other coins. i remember that dogecoin was reach more than 100 satoshi and it was good for us to sell the coin. i think it is to far to predict the price of dogecoin and i think we should make prediction for this year as the dogecoin is slow to get up.

I hate to say this but by 2020 Dogecoin will be around the same price. You have the unlimited supply to blame for that. The only thing saving it is the Litecoin merge mine. If it wasn't for that they would be 51% attacked and taken over.
