1- MSI Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 GAMING X 8Gb GDDR5
2-Asus Strix NVIDIA GTX1070 8GB GAMING GDDR5
3-Asus Turbo NVIDIA GTX1070 8GB GDDR5
4-MSI Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 Gaming X 8Gb GDDR5

this is the ones iv bin looking at
thanks for any info received

Since you listed nvidia cards only I'm guessing you have your mind setup on an nvidia mining rig already. It's totally up to you.
Well from the cards you listed up there, you should stay away from the 1080s. They're not that cost efficient.
The best option would be 1070 ti cards. Specifically msi gaming cards or asus strix will do (but asus strix cards are actually a bit more expensive.)

What I actually did is a bit different. I choose to take the best of the two worlds.
Meet my small family:

The three on the left are Sapphire Rx 580 4gb cards and the three on the right are 1060 cards (msi gaming 6gb, asus 1060 dual and asus 1060 rog strix). This gives me the ability to benefit from all the coins that are mined better on any card genre.
The 580s are actually brand new and arrived two days ago. Got them for $390 each.

I'm not telling you to do the same but just advising you to take a look at AMD cards as well before ordering as you might wanna change a bit.

https://www.crypto-coinz.net/crypto-calculator/ gives specs for the 1070ti

I got the Palit 1070ti Dual from aria.co.uk, though ebuyer.com had an asus one for a similar price IIRC.

You won't go wrong with a 1080 I don't think, it depends on what you intend to mine too, the 1070ti seems best mining neoscrypt coins where the 1080 struggles with it.

I haven't mined for 3 years, so take my advice with a pinch of salt

Thanks for that james6546
the price I can get the MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Ti GAMING 8G £479
or the MSI Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 GAMING X 8Gb GDDR5 £549 down from £750
its the drop in price that made me go with maybe i wrong am will hold of till morning till i make my mide up now
i see there returns are diferent with each card so i guess i will have to do more research on witch coin will be more profit
ethash is 30mhs on the 1070
and only 23 on the 1080
cyptonight is 500hs on the 1070
and 580hs on the 1080
this is some thing i will have to look more in to

Hi, I am a bit newbie in mining. I just wanted to ask if it is better to invest to GPU mining rather than using an ASIC miner?

I looked into it quite a bit a few days ago and the 1070ti came out as the best one in terms of profit, I got mine for £415 per card and ROI in approx 4 months, hopefully they are coming tomorrow.

I went with 4 to start with another 2 if it works out, they are quite significantly cheaper than the 1080 and get similar returns

Quick update iv seen some Gigabyte AMD Radeon RX580 Gaming 8GB Graphics Card
For £250 each witch would half setup cost just don’t won’t to buy cheaper ones that might not be as good in the future so many questions just won’t to get this rig setup ASAP it’s a big investment for me so need the best setup I can get with the budget iv got thanks again everyone

i just wanted to ask U about rx 470/480 8gb or rx 570/580 8gb gpu's price and stock
miner's i know all prefer to use rx 470 including me...but here prices went up for +50EUR per gpu or out of stock

I'd say go with gtx 1070ti
it is cheaper then gtx 1080 amd have almost same perfomance ( if ovecklocked) but still a cheaper then 1080
also it is a little bit expensive then gtx1070  (7-10%) but delivers slightly better performance boost like 15-20%
so I'm very ok with my 2 units I have

Everyone know that people begin to buy nvidia cards after all the AMD cards where gone. No one want to miss the cryptotrain.

I don't.  Nvidia isn't getting much of my money.  Might buy a couple for testing purposes.  I just keep mining with my Vega 56's!  Lol ... I'll wait until I can get them at 600usd per card before I buy more.  I got lucky though.  I bought my first six at a low price and the next day, my co-worker tried to buy from the same source.  They were sold out.  And then I paid for another six a little higher, but not much ... On backorder.  Which is fine ... If I get them by Christmas, I'll be happy.  I will not buy them at 700-800 per card though.

AMD RX VEGA 56 or 64 are the best.

I'm glad someone around here knows what they are talking about.  Idiot up above went to the extent of saying a Vega 56 is not profitable ... Lol.

Hi,

Disclaimer: I'm very very new to mining, so, more experienced user may have better info.

From my reading around the place, it appears that the AMD 580 range and nVidia 1070 ranges are best price/performance gpu's. Bear in mind that each vendor AMD/nVidia have their strengths and weaknesses in that they each mine different algorithms more efficiently.

A good place to start doing some research is the BitsBeTrippin youtube channel. This guy reviews a whole heap of cards, so it may be worthwhile taking at some of his videos.

You're mostly right. However, I would currently add Vega 56 mining a CryptoNight coin to that list. Using a new mining software called Cast XMR you can get 2050 h/s @160W (as compared to 500 h/s from a 1070 @ 60W) from a single Vega 56.

I have a 6 gpu Vega 56 rig that I'm running XMR-STAK on.  I'm doing about 1930 h/s @ 180w per card ... But ... I didn't flash to the 64 bios.  I used reg edits for the drop in power consumption.  Out of the box, I was around 230w per card.

The cards you listed are pretty much the same (especially #1 and #4). The difference in brand/manufacturer is quite insignificant if you are looking at long term projections anyway.

But if you ask me, i'd go for the MSI. I have one rig full of MSI cards and they've been the most stable so far. I understand there are more factors to consider when going for stability but my observation is just that my MSI rig goes for around 5 days without a single restart/reboot issue.
