What do you guys think it would happen if all the governments in the world declared bitcoin to be illegal?
How do you think the community would react? What could be the possible solutions?
[/quote

Even bitcoin banned because the government declared it, I doubt that the bitcoin community will stop using it because bitcoin is decentralize where none of the government sectors can't control it. And even it become illegal it cannot be track at all.

if that would ever happen it would mean altcoins would become more valuable to make it difficult for who ever kills the major crypto coin by creation
of more coins to make it difficult for another altcoin been banned

I am very sure that bitcoin can't be bsnned in any way.
Bitcoin in a real sence is not control by any government. So it will be hard for bitcoin to be banned
As we are seeing things now it have come to stay and dominate.

If they will ban BTC then it would be more fun, amigo!
just like weed and coke in my country... the more you make em illegal, the more they get exciting.

But seriously, nothings gonna change, right? we are and we will always be anonymous... so let those "governfools" be fools.

To some extent, these are the correct words. Now there are too many active users of bitcoin and the ban will not prevent them from using this currency.
you are right that there is a large number of users of bitcoin and they invest their money in bitcoin, I think if the bitcoin ban they will not easily calm down to stop but they will find ways to free bitcoin and also to free their money.

Yeah even if bitcoin gets banned in future people will continue to use it and earn it and find the ways to spend them or convert them to fiat currency so I don' think that people will completely stop using bitcoins even if it gets banned in future.

They will only make bitcoin more expensive just like cocaine. declaring it illegal will not stop it use. People will seill use it behind the scene.

But that's not how the bitcoin market was built. The bitcoin market was built by the public buying/selling. When it's much harder to buy/sell bitcoins, people will dump their coins and switch to a better technology which they can trade freely. There's no point wasting so much time to trade a coin that you can't trade (buy/sell) right away.

It would require so much effort to buy it since you have to do meetups. And since buying/selling of bitcoins is hard, then the market where you can use bitcoin as well is hard to find. Everything about bitcoin will be hard to do so switching to a better technology will be a much better option. When most people do that, bitcoin will have very little to no value at all.

yaps,, if bitcoin is prohibited in all countries, I will not get more revenue from bitcoin, .. Grin Grin Grin Grin hhaha,, upsst, not just to me, but we all

..will be a lot of people who feel lost, not only lost money, but the loss of all, bcause from the bitcoin we not only get the money, but we get the knowledge, experience, friends, and many more, we all know, there many people who make bitcoin as their main job, because we have to admit, bitcoin give us a different experience and allow us to conduct a transaction. and people will look for another technology that resembles the bitcoin.

and I think you're right, I agree with you, after bitcoin banned, seems there will be a new tchnology such as bitcoin, it may be btter to not prohibited as bitcoin.. Embarrassed Lips sealed Undecided

Exactly if bitcoin gets banned then I don't think that people would be much interested in using as they will always have an fear to get caught and they will also think of keeping their reputation intact in the society as if they caught using  bitcoins then people around them will think that he is involved in some illegal activities.

That is very possible to happen and instead of making it good in the eyes of the people they will make it look like it's a real illegal thing. Though we know that it is going to be a good way for us to have enough money and making ourselves financially free from burdens. Whether they will regulate or ban bitcoin, that can still make the price go up (I guess).

People will still find ways to circumvent this ban. In many countries weapons and drugs are prohibited, but they are used. The same will be with bitcoin.
But for bitcoin users it will not be hard to regulate their bitcoins and to transact their money to any other place in the form of bitcoin as bitcoin is unable to detect the ban will fail as it already happened in the future with some countries.
to me although people will still using bitcoin. but still i think government willl create problem an no one can challenge the decision fo the government and must accept the government decision.

Don't place bitcoin aside this illegal activities. People despise weapons and drugs when they are banned in our country, they are strictly prohibited because it can kill and hurt people. Bitcoin differs from these illegal activities way more, it depends upon how you use bitcoin because it is free. Bitcoin helps a country and it can't be that bad to use it not ban it.

Yes in the past some of the countries had banned it but then they found that banning bitcoin is useless and they are revoking the benefit of their nation so then they start the use of it again in their country and allowed them to use it for any of their need.

IF  bitcoin is banned sure it have many would go on petition and get angry to one who make a banned ,but they still on bitcoin,. I think if it will happen it maybe they would still continue to bitcoin but secretly. If will happen it become in demand and i think the price and the value become higher. But impossible to happen because today was an access of internet they difficult them to do that if they going to ban.
but i do not thing that such kind of situation will ever happen. as bitcoin is still not consider as legal currency by any state but still people ar using it, so i do not think that the government will banned bitcoin i think people will pay no attention to them and will continue using bitcoin very smoothly.
You're sort of right.  It won't be banned by most countries until they actually see it as a significant enough threat to do so.  I think it's in most countries' interests to ignore it for now since they try to pretend to encourage freedom.  If it was banned though, it would be pointless because people who actually want to do illegal things would hide themselves from being tracked and people who were trying to do legal things with it would stop because they'd be terrified of getting caught.

It would be much easier than the ban on guns and drugs though, but if something like that happens, then the population of Bitcoin will gradually decrease, I don't think everyone will leave but there are some people who wants to go with government's many time without even understanding bans.
I don't think any government will ban Bitcoin.
i do not think that it will ever happen because the government have to understand the situation, they will surely take care of the emotion of the people because the trend of the people is now changing toward bitcoin.

The government can pass a law that essentially bans the use, buy/sell/trading of bitcoins. What the government cannot do is control this ban. There is no server to block. There is no network or range of IPs to filter, there is no “port” to shutdown, there is no organization to provide a notice to. If enough major countries banned it, then bitcoin might just be reduced to a novelty traded item, in which legit consumers and clients would not be willing to invest in or fund companies related to bitcoin.

Yes, who would control a decentralized currency? Even Satoshi cannot control bitcoin now. Bitcoin was intentionally made as an untouchable currency specifically for any government, organization, or international body. They can ban bitcoin anytime they want but they cannot control individuals from using it.
