Bitcoin is GOD
Simple question. Between BTC and ETH what would you want to load up on right now if you could only choose one?

Personally I'd go with ETH, but that's because I already have a lot more Bitcoin than ETH.
Everything depends on your personal circumstances, without taking into account those circumstances then it is very easy for me to say that we should always get more bitcoin as it is without a doubt the best coin out of the two and the one that has a higher potential to keep growing as institutional investors are very interested in it.

However as it is in your case you already have enough bitcoin then it is not a bad idea to get some more ethereum, you just need to be careful because if the price goes down again then ethereum is going to crash way harder than bitcoin producing more losses for you, and that is something that no one wants.

Eth is going to produce short term gains but btc will remain the king of the markets by getting more and more dominant once it reaches $42k and stabilizes there for some time. I believed that bears took control of the markets but this rebound has changed my mind and I am again bullish, highly bullish on btc than ever. Eth will be left behind once btc begins its run up.

I vote for Ethereum, but in general it's pretty silly to split the portfolio into one coin.
Bitcoin is the flagship and Ethereum is also, both of which show great profit in the distance. In addition, Ethereum can now greatly change and increase its performance in value.
Diversify your portfolio, don't bet on one coin.

why should you choose one when you can get both. both bitcoin and eth I think will dominate in the future, because as we all know that bitcoin even has a lot of fud and that causes the bitcoin price to be not good to see for the past few weeks but no one doubts the volatility of this coin and more and more news negative consciously or not bitcoin will become more and more famous.
On the other hand, eth is now starting with eth 2.0 and is now a hardfork that is being discussed among altcoin lovers who are predicted to reduce gas emissions. I don't think this can be seen with one eye because with this I believe it will be a turning point for eth to climb up and there is no doubt that eth in the future will definitely have more fans.
if we look at this as long as we can adopt both why do we bother to choose one because I really believe in the future eth and btc will be very good coinsw

Thought question? C'mon no, I will not disrespect ethereum, this is mitochondria of alt-coins cells, one of the alt-coin I first get before any out there, but the question placed them side by side is a selection pick, I know this won't come to reality, but it would be Bitcoin if it was between Bitcoin and ethereum, crypto-currency has hall of fame slots for the two, now and in the future, so I do not think any of them won't be on the roaster when calling digital asset coins in crypto-currency.

The answer will always be Bitcoin there will be no time that Ethereum will be worth holding for a longer time than Bitcoin. Bitcoin is the best reserve currency and gives the best prospects of holding it for longer. I am not sure if Ethereum will be worth anything in 10 years but Bitcoin I expect to be worth at least double the amount it is today.

Currently bitcoin is gold, and ETH is a platform. For long time investing i think bitcoin is still gonna be strong because many people are hold it and the supply is limited. But investing on ETH is quite not bad also, as long as we watch the news of cryptocurrency and always keep up to date with any ETH information from their official, so we could make some decision if something bad happen

^  I’m talking about the recent run of the market as of late.  Check out BTC’s chart with ETH’s chart.  It’s pretty obvious ETH is breaking out while BTC is being sold down by who knows who taking everything down with it.

But it looks like ETH is having a good run rn after the hard fork and it seems to be somehwhat carrying BTC with it too.  But really..  I still want to see a decoupling with the whole market rallying behind ETH.  And BTC can be in red for as long as it wants.  Lol.

I’d take both but I like the chances of ETH have more upside than BTC and lower the gap between them in CMC.  And I wish ETH would start decoupling from BTC and just hold out on its own and take most of the alts with it to the moon tbh.  BTC has a tendency to spoil everything cos of its own issues.

If you're hoping alts all go to the moon you've got stuff to figure out haha. 99%+ of alts are shitcoins that will never have any use besides trading, or are experimental coins in a sea of experimental coins that may never amount to anything or may get a year in the sun and then be overtaken by newer coins. Bitcoin is the base money of crypto, there is a reason everything follows Bitcoin. Bitcoin doesn't spoil the rallies of the rest of the market, it literally creates the rally in the first place.

Bitcoin brings in the people and the money, and to a far lesser extend Ethereum does so as well now, and then once people get into Bitcoin and Ethereum they decide to spread their money around so tiny alts get pumped to high heaven with a little bit of inflowing money. Bitcoin doesn't spoil their rallies, it literally creates their rallies. Most alts are in the long term worthless and heading towards zero against Bitcoin. "take most alts with it to the moon" is not something you should ever be counting on or hoping for. If you are that means you are way over exposed on shitcoins.

Your reason is not making any sense; what you are already having cannot be a criteria to decide where you will invest further. If are investing into something else for the reason of diversification then that could be a different case but ignoring the growth rate and investing into other things just because of already holding in more number definitely a naive decision.

You sound like you are speculating both BTC and ETH are having same level of ROI in coming times but I expect ETH may become like how litecoin is doing right now due to evaluation of another coin. So, having BTC in more number is always recommended.

Of course it makes sense, it's not naive, the naive decision would be to not take into account what I already own. If I had 100 Bitcoin and 1 Ether obviously that would play into my calculations differently than if I had 500 Ether and 1 Bitcoin. What you are saying only makes sense if you know the future and know which could will grow the most, and obviously nobody knows that. I have no idea which will grow more from here on out. I know my portfolio is significantly skewed toward Bitcoin (which is perfectly fine), and I can have extremely high confidence that both will grow immensely in the future, thus I can make a decision from those two things.

I have a good amount of ETH but I have a ton of Bitcoin. So if I could only chose one I would pad out my Ethereum holdings because they are significantly less than what I have in Bitcoin (in dollar value at the moment my BTC:ETH ratio is just under 8:1), so I could better take advantage of the growth of the smart contract world. Right now I'm already very strongly taking advantage of the growth of Bitcoin as a global store of value but taking less advantage of the growth of the smart contract world, so if I could only choose one I'd go with increasing my ability to take advantage of the smart contract world because that is where my portfolio is lacking right now.

Ethereum is preferred over bitcoin. The price of bitcoin have gone high, and I find the price of ethereum to be affordable to buy it as a whole.
Wait. Are you saying that you think Ethereum is more "affordable" because it's unit price is lower? That buying one "whole" Ethereum is cheaper?

Also from various predictions ethereum is said to touch atleast $17800 within the next five years time.
Oh yea, "price predictions" surely ends well most of the time.

I prefer to buy both bitcoin and ethereum. Maybe the portion will be bitcoin for 65% and ethereum will be 35%. When the bitcoin price increase, the ethereum price will have a chance to increase and that means I can make double profit from bitcoin and ethereum. I give a bigger portion in bitcoin because I believe that bitcoin can increase and will be back to the last ATH and have a new ATH this year or next year.

While ethereum can be a secondary investment that can give the other profit to me. If ethereum can increase more than the last ATH, that will bring another bigger profit for the investors but that will not happen in a short time unless the bitcoin price can rise so high.

Ethereum will never be able to hit a price level that is close to Bitcoin, due to the lack of scarcity.
What's the point of choosing between BTC and ETH,since both the BTC and ETH price follow the same pattern? I would rather choose 100% Bitcoin or a combination between BTC and ETH.
If we try to ignore the technological difference between Bitcoin and Ethereum and focus only on prices and profit margins,I don't see anything that makes Ethereum better than Bitcoin.I don't want to discuss all the DeFI,ICOs,smart contracts, which are built on top of ETH.They all have pros and cons and the pros aren't more than the cons.

Ethereum is preferred over bitcoin. The price of bitcoin have gone high, and I find the price of ethereum to be affordable to buy it as a whole. Also from various predictions ethereum is said to touch atleast $17800 within the next five years time. This is something big out of an investment. This makes me prioritise ethereum over bitcoin. For short term and regular trading purpose bitcoin is the right choice.
4 years ago,I remember some people said that Ethereum will hit 10K-15K USD in the next 5 years.
They were wrong. This is clearly a bold statement and a speculation.

For now I'd go with ETH since there are so many things I can use on it especially I am playing Axie Infinity right now and this game is the reason why I mostly transact on ETH also its kinda cheap compare with bitcoin so no wonder that we can see more from it as ETH had a lot of potential to rise up more in future. I'm not saying bitcoin is not good but if we talk about how huge the usage I can say ETH is kinda useful for now(This is my opinion only).

I would invest in both, there is no complete bitcoin or ethereum like scenario for me. I don't like to put all my eggs in one basket and I like to diversify my investments.
I can't risk to loose it all when it comes to investment and play it safe, while investing in both bitcoin and ethereum, I am limiting the risk of loosing money in case my investment experience bearish trend. While riding both the boats(ethereum and bitcoin) I can guarantee that I will be making decent amount of profit in the long run.

I'd probably stick with both if I can. If I was forced to pick between the two though I'd probably go for BTC. ETH seems like a nice investment to go on to but I'd prefer Bitcoin all the way since I've had my fair share of experience with it. I've used ether for my transactions here and there but it hasn't really stuck with me whether I should split my currently low monthly investment into both portfolios, doens't seem worth it so I'm sticking to one till I can manage to increase my monthly investment or till I get a pretty satisfactory amount in BTC (which would take a long time I think).
But that means that you will have reduced profit overtime since you are going to invest in both unless you have a lot of money to get both and profit big time in both then you can just go for it. Although, I think that you can still profit big in the long-term if you accumulate bitcoin and eth along the way.

I will go for bitcoin and Bitcoin and nothing more than a stable coin, I like a coin that shows complete decentralization, not all coins are completely decentralized, only Bitcoin is the coin I know to be decentralized and not controlled in any way. That is why I will prefer it, but it is not bad if go for ethereum but ethereum is never my type when bitcoin and a stable coin can give me all what I want, bitcoin is most suitable for holding.
