For me, my family have no idea that I'm into cryptocurrencies and they have no idea what cryptocurrency is and to even think of knowing the entire crypto ecosystem.  But if they did know about cryptocurrency and the entire crypto space, they will not no problem with me investing into cryptocurrencies. Its all about how you explain and present what crypto is and the ideology behind the entire ecosystem

Hello everyone, good morning, yesterday I had a conversation with my family about crypto(BTC if we being specific).

Im HODL for a long time now, and really believe that in the end crypto actually do fly to do moon( More about Moon:)

my family thinks its a bullshit, and think that im wasting my time and money. I try to explain it countless of times and it seems that is simply imposable for to them to understand

So, im just curious what your family/friends think about it?
The family treats cryptocurrencies well, because I make money using cryptocurrencies.Friends and acquaintances think that I am some kind of fraudster and crypto-currencies are used exclusively by hackers.I have repeatedly tried to prove something and tell, but stereotypes are very difficult to break.Alas.

In my case? I think they would think that I was just investing in stock market like the common investors do. Nothing much particular or special thing that they'll think that I was trading a digital coins also in the market without having to go outside and incur some additional expenses. They didn't know that I would like be using a decentralized credit card that I could use to buy merchs without suffering from burden of balance that banks would usually put into me.

But bitcoin is nothing like a credit card though.. an easily transferable digital gold would fit the narrative much much better especially when you're going to explain it to your parents in the first place. Calling it a credit card would probably give them too much unnecessarily confusion as bitcoin is already confusing enough in the first place.

At first they are laughing at me on what I am doing especially those posts on my walls in regards of all the bounties that I have joined.. But lately after seeing all my earnings from crypto they become curious about it... Now they are voluntarily asking me how to start on crypto.. They want me to teach them all what I'm doing specially crypto trading.. And I'm happy that atleast now they are adapting crypto..

I'm actually quite happy that at least some of my family members are open minded and young enough to appreciate what Bitcoin is, but I'm still not sure if they are ready to distance themselves from the speculative nature of it.

Quite often after a sharp increase or decrease in the price they send me a DM through whatsapp asking why the price has gone up or down, and whether or not this is the time to long or short the market.

I'm uncomfortable providing them advice on the speculative nature of this market because when they lose, they'll blame me guaranteed. This is why I just tell them to hodl most of their coins and speculate only with a small portion.

They don't really care about it and have not invested a single penny since they prefer FIAT, but they do know what it is thanks to me and its surge in popularity with time. Its simply their opinion and I respect it.

I don't go out of my way to make them use crypto since that isn't the correct route. They will probably invest in BTC once adoption rates grow and once the volatility factor drops with time though.

I have a family that supports me on what I'm doing right now, and I think you belong to the smart family that's why they also have their own judgement on crypto. As for me, my family is very thankful that I'm a crypto man because they also benefit on my profit here, but it's just that crypto is not for them as they would like to play safe by having a job, relies on paycheck that risking their money here and start a journey in crypto.

There is trouble abrewing
you are not wasting your time with "bitcoin" as it has a good future and most importantly because it is offering something useful.
however, in my opinion you are wasting your time with your site that you are also advertising here in your comment. the fact that you are busying yourself with things that we all know have no future calle ICO/STO/IEO is already bad. not to mention that majority of them are purely scam operations created to raise funds and nothing else. and the rest are just useless that dedicating even a second to any of them is a big mistake.

Most of them doubt me and thinks that I am just wasting my time on it.
But once they've seen how much I have been earning they didn't talk much and some of them get interested in crypto .
Of course it would always be like that we always need to show the result before they change their mind about it.
It's not that easy, I have friends that I help about crypto in the past but they didn't survive, learning crypto does not automatically makes a person successful here, they need to ensure they spend time or they put their passion so they will love their job, and most importantly, they should be a risk taker.

I was in the same shoes as what you are in now,  three years ago, my family and my friends think I'm crazy because there is a lot of bad news about Bitcoin in our country, it was used by marketers to scam people and they think I'm going to scam people also.

I remain quiet and just continue without telling anyone in my family or friends about Cryptocurrency, they did realize that I'm doing good holdling and trading Cryptocurrency when I start supporting our needs and I also explain to them and urge to watch videos on Youtube about Cryptocurrency and read articles online about Cryptocurrency.

Just like you, my family does not support crypto, for them profit is derived from effort and hard work, while crypto they see as things that do not need effort, just waiting for market movements. And this can't possibly change lives.

@hoaryal1 I can totally understand why your family rejected bitcoins, it’s a normal reaction as they may not be fully aware of what kind of returns you can generate from bitcoins. In my personal opinion you should sit with them, and show them graphs of how it rose from 10 cents to $20k maybe they’ll like it too. What I did was brought gifts for my family members, and then told them I brought it via the profits that bitcoin gave me, though they were sceptical they encouraged me to earn more you may try this method.

Some of them think that crypto is scam. I remember when bitcoin's price is nearly 20K USD, a friend told me that bitcoin is scam and I should not be able to spend time or effort to it. For her, it's too good to be true. It's understandable for other people who is not familiar with crypto to think that way. I agree with Satoshi's quote.

"If you don’t believe me or don’t get it, I don’t have time to try to convince you, sorry".

But then, after months of being negative about bitcoin, I found out she's being lowkey interested about it because she's desperate to earn money. Lol!

^ When that for a long time? If you are buying around in the year 2017 which bitcoin is very high you should still hold until now but if that last year then, you can get your profit now. Nevertheless, I don't force my family to get involved in crypto if they don't. Just explaining them once but if they did not listen to me, I will not forcing them. But, recently my brother and sisters are now getting in touch with crypto because they saw that I did not worry when it comes to the financial problem. Showing your self that you are improving with crypto they are a spontaneous embrace of what crypto it is.

If you hold for long time, then you probably buy at much lover price then it is today, unless you are one of those who invested in December 2017 and in first few months of 2018. To prove that there is something in all that ( that you don't waste your time and money), maybe you should buy something from that profit for your family? After that they maybe change their mind, because in the end, who doesn’t love gifts?

If you believe in something, you should stick to it - your life, your decisions.

Never tell your family that you are into crypto. Since I'm from a third world country, money is very important here that your family might be greedy to you for the sake of it. Since my family knows that I'm into crypto, the decisions I make are being hinder by them which forced me to separate ways. It's hard to admit but they only think cryptocurrency as a source of income. Nonetheless, I still support their financial needs.
