Topic: whats definition of off topic to mods ? or they are just enjoying deleting (Read 582 times)

How can a reply about a locality be off-topic if it is posted in a Local thread which is the only place for discussions about that particular place/country?
It is not like Pakistan have a complete board in its name, but it is only a single thread/topic, containing all the discussions, questions and queries about everything crypto related happening in there. So on what bases is a reply which is relating to and raising a discussion about that locality considered off-topic?

And, if it is about the language in which it is written, then every single reply in that thread has to be deleted since all of them are written in English.

Got also tons of posts deleted which were all on topics.
It seems for me that some mods are hyper activ or have a lack of good judgements.


So now we got also mods as decission maker which posts are quality ones and which not and which off topic and which not.

Again something which creates a conflict since there are no clear rules and everything is done on personal opinions which are so diffrent that you can say that you can get your post removed for anything.

This one got me thinking a bit since today I almost had to open a topic to seek some help in local boards for something..

The restrictions are for other languages than English in the main forum, not for English in the local boards.
Imagine my situation, I would try to contact somebody from Croatia, I don't know the language and I'm not permitted by the rules (27) to make a translated post via google..
How am I going to do it, open a topic in BD with the title "anyone from Croatia around?" and have the surprise to see it moved in the local board or to offtopic?

Well, there is a good reason why multiple people will report a post. They do not wish for the TRUTH to be heard.

I have had posts deleted where the OP and PALS start discussing me and making provably false statements that they claim bring me/my posts On topic and relevant. Then when I challenge them to produce evidence of these false claims and then myself present only observable/factual events that demonstrate THEY are relevant and on topic NOT me....Boom. My posts are deleted and their posts continue to discuss me and my posts in a provably false light in their safe misleading echo chamber that mods have allowed them to create. It is net negative and misleading.

I think it should be transparent which mod deleted which post. So they can be brought to debate this in public. If they are found to be making consistent politically based judgement calls that are not objective and allow the promulgate false information to bolster these political (they themselves ascribe to) views then they must be removed.

Mods need to objectively assess each post in the context of which it was presented. The point of the board is to reach the optimal solution/conclusion/action based on objective evaluation of all relevant material and input from ALL members.

I get called a troll and a liar and a shit poster and a hater (for no reason) and insane. YET i challenge the entire board to bring forth one false thing i have said or something they can demonstrate is wrong ....they can produce NOTHING. I ask them to present any case here that demonstrates I seek anything other than a transparent and fair system for all, where everyone gets equal treatment.... Again they are unable to present ANYTHING to substantiate any of their FALSE claims.

After having said ALL of that I will still say the moderation here is better than 99% of other boards and still if you make a clear point you have a good chance the post will remain. Free speech is not under threat from an admin level nearly like it is from the systems of control that slipped in beneath admin level.

TLDR

Mods doing 8/10 job  here  still but room for improvements and must not be swayed by "friends" political views to create echo chambers regardless of how much squealing and appealing from these crooks in DT and merit sources that takes place. Suchmoon is the worst. She even said she took me off ignore to target my posts for deletion. Next moment I had about 8 deletes.

Yes some posts that are on topic and relevant with important information (if you want the truth) is at times deleted.
Taking into consideration the amount of snitchery here (some needed to control the swarms) i guess there is not hours to pour over each post and the context to make 100% correct decision so some errors will always happen.

Yes I agree sometimes I wander off topic strictly but it will always be on topic to some degree so some of my posts can be debated to be ripe for deletion...... why though are others who are arguing with me or started off the argument allowed to have their posts remain there still.

Anyway mods are NOT the main worry for free speech here right now. Moderation of this board has always been excellent let's keep it that way.

If multiple people have reported the same post then there's probably a very good reason why they all think like that, but there's no difference in marking it good or bad to a mod. A staff member would review the post regardless of how many people reported it and if everyone was wrong in their report, then again, it would likely be either marked as bad or just left alone if they couldn't decide either way.

I think you have misunderstood my statement , what i meant is that some mods could very likely count on the "number of reports" if a post gets reported by say 10 members then it will very likely be deleted regardless of any other concedrations.

Would you prefer it if they ignored all reports? Mods check the reports then make a judgement on it. If they don't agree with the report then it will either be marked as bad or left in the queue. They don't need to handle it and marking it bad is the same as handling and then actually acting on it.


Why do you assume it was removed for specifically being off topic? I often see people complaining about their post being removed even though it was allegedly on topic, but there are multitudes of reasons why it may have been removed. If somebody necrobumps a thread then a load of people post in it after then all those posts are liable to be removed even though they were likely on topic. Some times posts are removed because they're useless of unhelpful or just plain spam, regardless of how on topic they are. That post doesn't exactly look like it would be missed, but without more context and the thread it was removed from, I couldn't give you definite answer.


Half of the threads here are spam. Before you post in a thread I would ask yourself is this really helpful or constructive or has it been said before? Even a half-decent thread can quickly delve into a spam fest with regurgitated one/two liners that aren't helpful to a anybody and are only done to meet a quota and that's why many end up being locked or trashed.

I had a post deleted two days ago that was a quote on another post that ended up being deleted due to the OP posting two replies in the same day. So that's normal that the mods would also delete my post with the quote although there was absolutely nothing wrong with it.

I had a post that was also deleted. It was a comment about preev.com, which was facing problems. I can not believe it was such a low-quality post that it needed to be deleted. And there was nothing in the comment that might be detrimental to the forum.

Maybe your post was reported because the person who reported it doesn't know what you mean and the Mod who deleted it agrees with him.

Not only "thing", you also wrote "theres" instead of "there is" or "there's".
Many of the posts in Pakistan's board are written in roman urdu (official pakistani language) and mods didn't deleted them.
So language is not the issue here, broken language or too many spelling mistakes is the main issue i think.

Sometimes my post also deleting even they are not off-topic.
However, the reason of delete post sent typical. When moderators delete a post forum software send us a automated message with deleted quote. So if your post deleted it doesn't mean it was off-topic. Most likely OP post deleted to spam reason and I think moderators accurate on this case.

That shouldn't warrant a removal though.

Speaking of that, we should know why one was removed (e.g spam or wrong language). The reason is just too vague.

Seems mods have become serious af these days, I got my post count decreased by 15 posts one day (threads got deleted so my posts indirectly) and still get 1-2 daily lol.

That's correct. And if you view that thread, the vast majority of posts are mainly in English. The op's post must have been deleted for another reason.
(The OPs post does appear to be broken English, though.)

Someone correct me if I am wrong but isn't English one of the two official languages of Pakistan? Therefore any post written in English shouldn't be deleted solely for the reason that it is in English, correct?
