It still looks safe for now, but the increasing number of technological advances that are used in all countries is aimed at one of these, using all-digital so I'm very sure that more and more people will use digital currency, because we are in a digital era, everything  use their cellphones to make money transactions or shop and many more in my opinion for the future, and maybe at this time not all countries have fully implemented digital currency, everything is still in phases..

I've been wondering recently what's ahead for us in terms of the evolution of digital currencies.

There has been a lot of amazing development with blockchain and cryptocurrencies in general in the past decade. But I wonder if there's anyone working on other ideas or technologies that could also be promising. I'm not talking about altcoins. I mean real breakthrough ideas, similar to what happened when Bitcoin was originally introduced. It would be really exciting to witness the birth of something completely new in the next years/decades. I'm sure we have other brilliant "Satoshis" out there.

I'd love to learn more about cool projects and concepts that could be the evolution of blockchain (again, not altcoins please  Wink)

I think that Bitcoin was the best invention of our century that we live in and I think that "Satoshi" intentionally left himself anonymous to push more innovators to show their capability by building new projects, better than Bitcoin.

However as time has passed by it also has proven that no other brilliant "Satoshi" exists so far because we have not seen yet such a creation from anyone else,I personally doubt that there are more intelligent and brilliant minds alive in our time than the real inventor of Bitcoin.

Those days are gone! Now the crypto market is full of scammers and meme coins which shouldn't have existed at the first place. But unfortunately with the rise and flexibility of DEXs, it has become extremely easy for anyone to build a meme coin and get it listed in a DEX.

Innovation has definitely not stopped but with the huge amount of competition, it has become very difficult for the innovators to pitch their idea in crypto market.

Unfortunately I haven't heard of any path breaking innovation in the crypto market in recent times.

As technology keeps evolving, and so will all different innovations around. Bitcoin was and has been a very brilliant concept, but I think there is going to be more room for development and evolution.
Human civilization won't stop and many technologies, innovations will be made. Bitcoin is not a first cryptocurrency but it is a first successful cryptocurrency and it has set a solid foundation for other cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.

I believe that Bitcoin will never die and it will be an iconic cryptocurrency.

The future is very difficult to predict. Based on what is there now, we can see the likely things, and we will still err. You can look at the movie Back to the Future, for example, there are some things it got right and some things it got wrong.

Big innovations like Bitcoin that change the world are always rare. If they happened everyday they wouldn't have been as exciting to watch them unravel. This is one of the reasons why we haven't seen any groundbreaking innovations in this scene.

I agree, when the wheel was invented, which marked a before and after in transportation, more than 5,000 years had to pass for another such radical revolution, which was to be able to fly.  What we cannot predict is what we cannot even imagine today. Imagine explaining to someone in 1800 what the Internet was going to be. He couldn't even conceive it. Let alone if you go much further back in time.

In any case, I think the most likely thing for the next say 10 years will be that Bitcoin will continue to exist and revalue in purchasing power, that CBDCs will be implemented and that most shitcoins will go to hell.

There is also the problem of greed. Developers at some point started wanting to make money and only caring about profit, so they stopped taking the hard route of invention and started using the simple route of duplication and token creation to make quick and large amounts of money.

bitcoin has a good locking mechanism to then allow iou/pegged tokens in sub networks..
however its on these subnetworks to also enforce a good iou/peg mechanism to associate itself and secure that value emulation to then have a useful sub system.

most/all subnetworks so far have flaws in one way or another. and a few highly promoted ones have many flaws. thus they have not gained traction or responsible value security thus not deemed a safe/viable monetary system. and just instead played around with as a sandbox experiment

we will see new sub networks with better more confident systems of value security (better monetary policy)

alot of people keep saying how things like ethereum have better subnetwork systems and yet ethereum does not have a good independent price discovery sentiment of its market via a different community valuing and deciding on prices in a different speculative market. instead ethereum just traces bitcoins price movements in over 95% of times at a arbitrage rate of 1:13, which means that ethereums own community is not really speculating much in comparison, not finding or discovering its own independent value:premium market sentiment

in short ethereum does not really have much of a independent community away from bitcoin

bitcoin remains king and in the near future can easily dominate even more once it actually achieves certain goals which have been delayed over the last 6ish years

In the next years, we will see a crazy evolution in the hardware and software, All will be different, the cryptography will change, the mining will move to quantum mining, and that will be resumed in fast blockchains, just think about bitcoin but with blocks each second, that will be a crazy evolution for the cryptos.

And now think about a blockchain out of the internet, I know the concept sounds weird, but that would be a crazy step too... not sure how that would work, but we can expect some crazy crypto projects in the next years. Some people call it "Evolution".
