My favourite token is not listed, I think you forget it, ICONOMI is the next big thing in my opinion. Anyway, the list is not reasonable and some project have not started yet, they might fail to reach the minimum target and cancel the project.
I am not so sure that ICONOMI has the potential to go up because they experienced a huge dump before and there's plenty of large wallets that are capable of doing it again.
What about wetrust? They have real project business plan to grow money with lending circles. No doubt the massive velocity of money can easily grow business. I see today when TRST coin first enter the market in bittrex, they have good price and unique volatility. I beleive this coin will have a good future.
What do you guys think of the Quantum project? I have seen signatures with their logo, they started aggressive promotion on bitcointalk.

The next "BIG THING" in the altcoin world is going to be massive sell-offs! Huge loses!

The funny thing about this topic is that the choices we are asked are very old by now in altcoin community.
There have been new coins that came out after this topic was created and some of those coins even surpassed the coins listed here.
Altcoins are constantly evolving, there are always coins who will worth zero and probably premined scams whereas there are coins who will be created by great people and will worth a lot one day, it will never stop being like that.

Lisk is clearly being accumulated. I hope it crashes so I can buy more.

Taas is the next big thing, with the recent result of his ico. This will be considered as big platform. but I think we should be consider etherenity to be another best project.

Very good, very helpful topic. I'm thinking the next big thing is mobilego. Combines the game world with the power of the blockchain. Also they planned very smart earning and crypto financial ecosystem.

I think it is possible, since the poll is not closed yet. 
Byteball have the most votes, and my choice was iota, second on the list. So not one, its two big things that we can expect this year to happen in altcoin world, of maybe even more, this alts are coming and going very fast.
Bitbay also look like interesting coin, just recently I started to read more about this coin, and looks like there can be something from this one.

The two coins with the best poll results certainly deserve the place on the list. I'm putting some effort into trying to understand the Directed Acyclic Graph algorithm, and it's interesting how these coins are trying to innovate.

The hype that is around IOTA is what gives thay coin potential. I am not sure if the other coins on that list has the potential to be the next best thing.

i think the last important altcoin development was in pascalcoin.. things have kind of gone south since in that camp tho.
in the future what we could use is something that can either prove a singular identity and distribute a share of the network accordingly, and/or prevent pool mining with the centralization and profiteering that comes along with it.
