Then the people who spent their whole life savings into BitCoin will really have some financial difficulties.

There's no way to tell; yes, it's highly unlikely for it to fail, particularly due to the way in which it was designed, but if it ever were to fail, I'd be (a little) relieved since I didn't spend too much into it. If it were to go back up to $1000 USD value or even $1000000, I'd regret not putting more into it. Such are the risks of investment

Don't let others control your BTC -> self custody

I see 0% chance of total system shutdown.  There may be a period of time when value is transferred out of bitcoin to something else as that something else rises.
I second that.
The only way for bitcoin to fail is if something else takes its place. There is a need for what bitcoin has to offer, it serves its purpose.

Inflationcoin? What purpose does it currently serve?
There are many. For example it's a great payment processor and still a fairly easy and cheap way to move money.
By having some of your wealth in bitcoins you don't have to worry that the currency issued by your country becomes worthless and you'll lose all you have.

Show me a bank with fees comparable to bitcoin. Show me a payment system with such low fees. Show me a payment system that doesn't require you to make an account and log in every time you want to pay.

Then there's speculative value Wink
