About two years ago was when I first heard of the idea. When I first researched it, a decentralized currency sounded ludicrous because the price is simply "in the air". Now in the present I enjoy the currency. Great for merchants and enthusiasts  Grin

Near the end of 2012 I was looking for a site where I could play poker in the US and discovered SealsWithClubs. Full Tilt and Poker Stars had left the US market and cashing out of the other sites still serving the US was like pulling teeth, so I gave it a try. I found the competition to be fairly soft, so I started accumulated BTC. The rest, as they say, is history.

I was dragged into mining by other video game enthusiasts, just because the high end graphic equipment was available. In a way, POW based mining was the origins and now turns out to be the curse of crypto.

You cannot explain buying ASICs to the newbies.
