It’s always difficult to walk away when you’re on a winning streak. The rush of adrenaline will drive the compulsive gambler to place risker bet. And if it is a casino game where the odds are always against the player then chances of losing becomes even higher. This phrase holds true- walk away before you throw your money away.

Just walk out when your budget set for your gambling get over. But here where a real challenge comes in. Mind always runs here and there at the end of each play. It can be for those who win and who loose as well. If your day is good and you have earned something, then better to get out with what you have earned instead of extending your games with what you own. Its the responsibility of each one limit himself to what extend he can go.

There is an old song called "Thee Gambler" that goes like this (snipped part), by Kenny Rogers if I am not wrong.
,

Knowing when to hold'em, knowing when to foldèm are usually part of your ability, training and experience when playing poker or other games that have some math to it, my question for the forum is how do you know it is the time "to walk away" and I also hope that you never get to the point that you need to know "when to run".

Most people nowadays will be playing online poker, which means reading someones face and being able to call a bluff based on it is impossible. Of course it still works if you're playing in a real world casino. It is like any skill that someone has passion enough to acquire and master - many years of playing against many people, constantly learning and developing your game can end up building an intuition. As for the online poker rooms, most of the time it is about properly calculating pot odds and simply grinding. If you're lucky, you can come across many fish who will slowly hand over their money to you, if you're skilled enough to apply pressure at the opportune moments.

in my opinion when the person is having many successive defeats or even defeats that cause the bankroll to start to reduce a lot in a short time, then the person needs to urgently stop playing to be able to rest and think better about the next step in order to be able to have good results and recover the bankroll and make profits. consecutive losses cause stress and lead to despair, it is important to rest and for that the person needs to stop for some time
You wouldnt notice that until you dont able to pull off some money into your pocket for you to make use of your gambling activity.People wont realize it if they wont really be experiencing problems.

If you dont like on ending up on that way then better to have some good control and you should know on when to stop if its needed and always mind off about gambling as a form of entertainment not a source of income.

Walk away if you do notice that you are spending that much.Walk away if you do find out yourself already been stressed or becoming impulsive.

I think it would be easy for you to know that you need to walk away is if you allot a certain amount of bankroll before you play. So you only deposit the amount you can afford to lose. Once the bankroll is depleting, don't be tempted to deposit again because you already set yourself for that amount. It means, your game is about to end. For me, that's the easiest way to know when to stop. I only deposit the amount that I can freely spend, without worrying that I maybe spending funds for my bills.

(this song looks like an outpouring heart to me lol) i'm not good at playing poker but i'm a slot maniac.....until now the way i avoid big losses when i play slot is to really stop and not play with savings, emergency money or borrowed money.  those who play with emergency savings or loans definitely have a target to double their money but it is a mind trap because what happens is they lose the money and suffer losses.  (gambling is very happy and entertaining when playing with free money)

For me it's very hard to decide when to take a break from gambling. Usually after a big win or a big loss I take a quick break to see if it makes sense to keep gambling or better call it a night.
You have answered for yourself when is the right time to stop or take a break from gambling and that is after big wins and losing streaks. If you are too eager to win more after winning, you may end up throwing away all your winning simply because you are obsessed with bigger wins. Likewise when you really want to win a bet after a losing streak, you forget that you have neglected the risk of further losses if you want to continue. Quitting is an option, and coming back tomorrow or after.
Same with me, if I've already experienced a lot of loss and am stressed about it, it's time to go because I know it'll all go bad if I keep going. It's the same in trading; learn to stop investing at inopportune times, take a break, and clear your head so you can make the best judgment possible on when to enter and exit. Learn to make excellent decisions while gambling in order to get beneficial outcomes, such as not losing a lot of money after a gambling activity. It's preferable to lose a game but not lose a lot of money than to lose a game and lose a lot of money due to gambling.

I have done this very easily for the past many years, only because I didn't know when to walk out back in the day and lost so much money. I just put a limit for how much I will gamble and if I lose that then I do not deposit again.

This is what everyone else should do, have a bankroll management and gamble with whatever you have and if you do end up with a loss then do not just deposit money again and again, that just doesn't make any sense at all, it would lead to you losing until you do not have any more money left, there should be a stop. Which is why put a limit for yourself, whatever it is for you, for everyone that changes and the number changes, but aside from that you will definitely be able to handle whatever you have, just use the money you deposited and nothing more, I do that and I have been doing fine so far without any problem.

I believe it's time to walk away when the game stops being entertaining and starts becoming a duty. That is when things may get out of control for the gambler, so it's better for him to be aware about this situation and walk away soon as possible before it becomes too late. It's not an easy task for every gamblers, but if they watch themselves while playing it's possible to manage money and time accurately when gambling.

It's easy to know the timing but when i'm in that very moment it's difficult to execute knowing you could continue and make more profits then i'd get greedy and lose it all. Aside from knowing the best decision you also need to have some consistency because even if you know when to stop or walk away you still get that temptation to gamble. Tracking your bets from one site to the other is also another good way to know when to stop I think i've said this in another thread but having your own list gives you that realization.
Greed is the primary reason on why most gamblers or players do really fail on this one even though you are already aware on whats going on but you would really be having that thought that. What if i do play more?
I could possibly break even or make wins even more and this is where the  story starts.

Walking away would  be most likely to happen when someone got broke or already have no money into their pockets.Only a few could able to walk away and could able to stop when theyre winning
or to those who do already spent their budget.

Walk if you already on your limit and wont go past with that.

This song tells about "disciplined".

If we reflect on the message of the song, we will understand that we should not use our emotion in gambling, instead, use the strategy and follow it with discipline. Additionally, knowing when to walk away, whether you lose or win is very important. Also, it might not only speak on poker, but any gambling game you are playing, you should know when to walk away.

,
Quote
He said, "Son, I've made a life
Out of readin' people's faces
Knowin' what the cards were
By the way they held their eyes
So if you don't mind my sayin'
I can see you're out of aces
For a taste of your whiskey
I'll give you some advice"

...

Quote
"If you're gonna play the game, boy
You gotta learn to play it right
You've got to know when to hold 'em
Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away
And know when to run
You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done

Knowing when to hold'em, knowing when to foldèm are usually part of your ability, training and experience when playing poker or other games that have some math to it, my question for the forum is how do you know it is the time "to walk away" and I also hope that you never get to the point that you need to know "when to run".
First time seeing a poem that talks about gambling haha. About your question, honestly, recently you'll just realize that it is already time to walk away because your balance are already gone Cheesy That's a bad case, however being more disciplined, I think you should set yourself the limit so that you'll know when it is enough.

... my question for the forum is how do you know it is the time "to walk away" and I also hope that you never get to the point that you need to know "when to run".
It's easy for me to walk away during a game when I got nothing left since I limit my gambling budget.

Walking away when you're winning is more difficult than what others may think. I hope you don't mean those you beat will be chasing you with a deadly weapon when you said "know when to run". It sounds funny when you hear those kind of stories but it's actually scary when you see them in person.

It's harder to quit when you feeling it, when you are being dictated by greed, thinking that luck will continue to be there for you.

The  reason there's  some saying " Much better to stop when you already have some profits, than quitting because your wallet was emptied."

Though there are also experienced gamblers who are intact with their plans, knowing when to stop on both ends. Tough, but that's their advantage against regular gamblers who mostly lose their money from activity.

I would never forget the message of this song, as a gambler, we could always relate on this.

The words that really struck me are.

Quote
There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done

Sometimes I got too excited, I count my winnings when I'm still gambling, which I realize it's not a good idea as I got greedier every time I do that.
What I learn is to always put a target of winning when gambling and a limit of what you could risk only.

I think everyone would have a different opinion on when to walk away. For someone it would be as soon as they have lost their budget.
For some it would be little past their budget and for someone it would be until they have lost it all.
Knowing when to walk away is a good skill to have because it can save us a lot of money that we would have probably lost.
For me the right time to walk away would be when I have lost my budget for gambling.

I have developed a rule for myself when gambling the meaning of which is that I leave the game if I manage to increase my deposit by 40-50%. This simple rule helps me not only to enjoy the game, but also to stay with the winnings, though not so often.

Very nice! But I don't think it'll work for me because that's when my greediness kicks in. I can't control or manage my emotions, so I've decided to stop playing. I remember my first time gambling at a carnival, I couldn't sleep that night and I really wanted to go back, so for a week I was always there playing those color games, sometimes winning, sometimes losing, but the excitement was always there. If I win 100 percent of my bet, I usually double it, so I end up losing.

Of course, one thing is for sure, that is, don't use greed and emotion as a means of relying on yourself.
actually things like this are not just for gambling but maybe for everything we do.
at least with us being aware and not getting carried away into emotions and greed we can limit ourselves so that we can determine with a clear head what actions to take so as not to become mistakes and become regrets.
because a person will not be able to stop doing when they have been overcome by emotions and greed.
so know yourself first and don't use your emotions and greed so you can know where to go and where to stop.
