Sure, I'm bet some company will paid for advertising bitcoin on the TV.
What kind of company will advertising bitcoin since most of their customers dont have any idea yet about bitcoin.

bitpay.com for example? They are a purely bitcoin company and they have huge funding from persons with really deep (fiat) pockets. For sure they are big enough that promoting bitcoin will make a difference.
I think they wont spend their money with something new in people mind (non bitcoin user). But we have to appreciate it if they really will do that  Smiley

I don't see any TV ads regarding USD or any other currency for that matter. Why should Bitcoin need one?

And I don't think it should need any AD about itself, I think it needs some ADs that include Bitcoin. Smiley
Because currency has introduced by government, and its a must to people using currency. Government wont bothered himself about bitcoin since there is no profit they can take from it. So, just bitcoin enthusiasts who can take this role imo.

Still early in my opinion unless you don't want to air educational videos about the Bitcoin. I mean most of the people don't even know or didn't even hear about Bitcoin, so a commercial, pay with Bitcoin would be pretty useless. Now, some short educational commercials or longer educational videos would be great but I imagine they cost a lot of money as well!
Actually thats why most people think the best way is make any TV ads about bitcoin, so atleast people can look it.

Satoshi is rolling in his grave. #bitcoin

No we don't have them, yet.
The same idea crossed my mind as well, but the problem with tv ads about bitcoin is that bitcoin has no central authority, no owner, and with that, it has
noone who would profit from the reaction on the said ads.

The only way we will see bitcoin on tv in commercial way is when the market gets large enough that bitcoin related services have enough incentive to
seek out targeted audience via that media.

cheers

There may be ads for Bitcoin-related services, but not for Bitcoin itself. That would be weird. Just like if there were ads promoting the use of US Dollar or whatever currency. People need to stop thinking about Bitcoin as a money. It should be thought of as a technology.

The reason is in many countries bitcoin is banned and considered as illegal, so they will not entertain bitcoins for the promotion and it is because the government is against bitcoins, unless government doesn't come in support of bitcoins, It is almost impossible that we can see any commercials on TV related to bitcoins.

Like it or not, TV still has a lot of viewers, even tho with time it's getting less and less until the internet fully replaces it (just like BTC will replace regular currencies) but until then TV matters.
At what point it will be a good idea for Bitcoin ads to start appearing on there to get people aware? I just saw a Paypal TV ad that was advertising payments with smartphones and over the internet as the next big thing or something. When will Bitcoin be there to claim its place?
Definitely not anytime soon since we can't even solve the blocksize problem yet, but when do you estimate BTC will be mature and stable enough for it?
There was a nice Tv ads about Bitcoin on the Japanese TV Yesterday: Mark Karpeles 's arrest.  Wink

I think that more Bitcoin companies should invest in product placement. For example someone using a trezor wallet in a movie or someone using Circle wallet in a series. Many trends got popular through product placement .

Yes and they should use the actual word "Bitcoin" in the movie. And they should also keep on using this term in a movie which would definitely attract the target audiences to know what exactly they are talking about.
And if it happens, it would create awareness level in the mind of people and would definitely start to search for the information related to bitcoins.

The problem with Bitcoin ads in general is simple - Bitcoin is not company nor it have central management or budget for commercials and promotions.
The only way for bitcoin related commercial would ever appear on TV is when major company would advocate bitcoin use. Other that that there is no way.

Couldn't the Bitcoin Foundation work on such things? If having a Bitcoin Foundation is useful is to deal with stuff like this. In any case, it's way too early for this. Hype for things that are on early development are never a good idea, specially massively (TV).
Yes, you are somewhat right the Bitcoin Foundation's initial goal was to provide advocacy to the cryptocurrency, and that's something needed within the industry today we need recognition.
But there was a problem with  as the foundation has too many internal problems for it to ever become a useful pillar for the bitcoin ecosystem to rely upon.
They couldn't' even manage their own organisation to the point nobody trust them anymore.

It would be pretty cool seeing a bitcoin related ad on TV. Sort of like the first time I saw Bitcoin being mentioned in financial newspapers.

Actually, didn't Bitpay already do some ads during the super bowl?

I think it would be ok when bitcoin company make advertising. I mean the product they sell is the company. But advertising for bitcoin itself is somewhat awkward. People would ask, why do they spend money so that i buy bitcoins? Is it an investment? Where do they earn money from? Will they screw me?

I think it's better to move smart on that.

I absolutely agree. Companies who offer products and services by using Bitcoin should make TV commercials in the future. Promoting Bitcoin itself makes not much sense imo. Have you ever seen commercials about TCP/IP? I haven't. But I've seen amazon, ebay, microsoft etc.
So I'm with you that we will see Bitcoin companies promoting their stuff in TV.But that will take a few more years before it's happening.

Yes we want this to happen very soon, The companies accepting bitcoins should get into the promotion of bitcoins on TV and it should be promoted with help of some super models or Popular actors, as people follow their favorite stars, they would be easily influenced and start thinking of using bitcoins.

Never ending parties are what Im into.
Almost worth crowd sourcing to build real simple ads for people to look into bitcoin. Try and wedge it in after a cheque cashing/money transfer ad from one of the scumbag companies to show the extremes. Or during poker tournies on the sports channels, grab the sports guy watching the ticker and maybe the poker player.

Will take a community effort to get bitcoin up another level,no business is going to be able to achieve it.

It can be any time soon.
When a company decides that they have made enough profit from Bitcoin and want more out of it then they can use TV as source of publicity to their products and services and most importantly BITCOIN.

That is an interesting question besides services like coinbase trying to attract more users in the United States or perhaps a mention of the currencies accepted that include Bitcoin, tv ads might still be a bit premature.
(That said if the Winkelvoss ETF comes online I can imagine advertisements about their new financial product on TV)
To think of a practical case where ads for a financial product would make sense.
