It would be pretty cool seeing a bitcoin related ad on TV. Sort of like the first time I saw Bitcoin being mentioned in financial newspapers.

Actually, didn't Bitpay already do some ads during the super bowl?

I think it would be ok when bitcoin company make advertising. I mean the product they sell is the company. But advertising for bitcoin itself is somewhat awkward. People would ask, why do they spend money so that i buy bitcoins? Is it an investment? Where do they earn money from? Will they screw me?

I think it's better to move smart on that.

I absolutely agree. Companies who offer products and services by using Bitcoin should make TV commercials in the future. Promoting Bitcoin itself makes not much sense imo. Have you ever seen commercials about TCP/IP? I haven't. But I've seen amazon, ebay, microsoft etc.
So I'm with you that we will see Bitcoin companies promoting their stuff in TV.But that will take a few more years before it's happening.

Sure, I'm bet some company will paid for advertising bitcoin on the TV.
What kind of company will advertising bitcoin since most of their customers dont have any idea yet about bitcoin.

bitpay.com for example? They are a purely bitcoin company and they have huge funding from persons with really deep (fiat) pockets. For sure they are big enough that promoting bitcoin will make a difference.

Keep it dense, yeah?
TV advertisements can get really expensive, really fast.

Red tape over what is allowed aside, it has to be really worthwhile to justify the costs of advertisements.

If it is about increasing awareness then I think the best tool isn't advertising campaigns, but rather media attention through local (and national) businesses. Of course, getting positive coverage of Bitcoin probably doesn't fit into the agenda of many media establishments.

Advertise through TV is better because using visual explanation to making easier to reach more people to understand bitcoin
Well usually people arent interested to watch the ads from commercial break when watching their favorite programs.

I rarely watch TV, only on weekend to watch soccer matches or UCL in midweek. Maybe the best way is make banner alteast to show bitcoin logo in soccer match so world people can see it  Cheesy

Your country may be your worst enemy
What? Have you ever seen an ad for the US $? Or the €? Or the £?
I've never seen an ad for a currency in my life. Still, if some guy would be crazy enough to pay for a BTC ad on TV, I think he should do it.
If OP wants to do it, I won't do anything to stop him.

Like it or not, TV still has a lot of viewers, even tho with time it's getting less and less until the internet fully replaces it (just like BTC will replace regular currencies) but until then TV matters.
At what point it will be a good idea for Bitcoin ads to start appearing on there to get people aware? I just saw a Paypal TV ad that was advertising payments with smartphones and over the internet as the next big thing or something. When will Bitcoin be there to claim its place?
Definitely not anytime soon since we can't even solve the blocksize problem yet, but when do you estimate BTC will be mature and stable enough for it?

Who should pay for the ads? You know how expensive they are?

The bitcoin community already tried once to have a central organization. The bitcoin foundation. It did not end well. The foundation threw away all the coins and went bankrupt. Simply had not idea how to deal with money. Though that's the same for nearly all bitcoiners that got rich.

i think it is too early too. we should wait some years before we do that kind of commercials.

we are still bulding the infrastructure for BTC - and we have time, no need to hurry  Smiley

isn't this in some way considere an infrastructure of bitcoin? it can help a lot, i think this is the point of the op, so tv and bitcoin should work now together

maybe instead of those quiz show that reward you in fiat, they should come up with one that does the same but with bitcoin, would be an awesome start

Who is going to pay for these ads? I could see regular commercials with a 'we now accept Bitcoin' tagged onto the end. Closest we might get to a full blown advert will be likely from a payment processor such as bitpay. Think we're a long way off from that though but hopefully the benefits of Bitcoin can just be spread the grassroots way by word of mouth etc.

I think we are a ways off too from TV advertisement.

What I think may be closer is app advertisement.  Think about it if someone like bitpay starts a promo (something like "Free $5 of BTC for new users!) in a popular app.  Then the key is making the overall process easy enough for new users not to become discouraged with the whole bank account approval process, etc.

Ya, I saw a static Paypal ad just now that said something like 'the future of money', and had a pic of a couple hipster types beside a camper van. I think paypal is going to have a difficult time rebranding themselves from the misery account blockers and overchargers that we all know they are, to a sparkly new financial solution to internet money that'll mean we don't need Bitcoin.

It's really stretching to call paypal the future of money, seems paypal is worrying about crypto currencies and the innovations developing around them. Think they'd have better luck lowering fees instead of blowing money on ads. Try giving some money back to the customer for a change.

I think its not possible to advert. Bitcoin on TV untill satoshi do Tongue. Because, most of products as well as payment methods (fairly i've seen 'payumoney' payment method only on TV advert.) were advertised under their owners permission (i guess). Will satoshi publish this on TV advert? Roll Eyes
OR
some company/firm that accepts bitcoin as a payment method will step forward to advert. About bitcoin.

I think for it to be relevant we'll need a couple more crisis and a couple more people getting slapped around by the banking system, AND of course a more solid software with the scaling up problem solved and sealed for the next at least 40 years. It's time for the devs to come up with a solution.
Lets remember we are still at 0.11 version.. by the time we are at version 1.0 we'll all be rich and retired enjoying our passive income through real state bought with our ridiculously expensive BTCs. Thats what happens when you are a pioneer.
