Your first point is extremely correct. Desperation can make your situation worse than it originally was. I’ve seen someone gamble with desperation and he said that he’s staking all he has so maybe the return will match the amount that he needed, and he lost it right in front of me. That’s the worst time to gamble, because you’re focused on getting that amount of money and you’re controlled by it.
If someone want to make money, it's better for them to trade futures or buy shitcoins. At least if he correctly predict the market or correctly picking the right shitcoins, he can earn a lot. While gambling, it's high unlikely someone will win.
@oktana, so some people are still so foolish in this current dispensation? That is bad, it is a way to truly show folly, for I can't relate it to ignorance anymore because you never sounded that this person is not an experienced gambler. Well, I am certain that he would have learned his mistakes by now, but if he is still defiant towards it, he will continue to learn it bitterly. Gambling is not just the avenue to make money when we are desperate, and if we already have enough capital and not that we are desperate for money per se, good business and investments are key.

And at @Solosanz, you did well by advising against betting if someone wants to make money, but fine, one may still try their luck in casino games but let them be very reasonable about it. I am certain that serious people will only take and treat casinos the way it is and not misplace priority regarding this because betting can never be substituted for business, investment and other services that will almost certainly guarantee your return. But your suggested options are still risky nonetheless. I don't see a huge difference (in risk) compared with the people betting and trading futures, and not even those investing in shitcoins. Though they might help in some cases, the risks are high, but if you are lucky, you might hit it big at once. But some shitcoins investment is tantamount to losing your money as well because they will always be falling and will not rise. I have a friend who bought shitcoins and I must say he should not even think about the money again because, in this bull run, the shitcoin that has lost about 98% of his money has not risen up to 1% of its ATH till now. Owning to this, the best is to engage in businesses and serious activities if you have the capital.

You can add these two:

When you win little, do not gamble on that day again. But some gamblers will feel like they should continue to gamble and they will lose at the end of the day.

When you are addicted. Quit gambling for a long time.

You said it well. But here's the thing: A person who is addicted to gambling cannot stop gambling. This is the whole problem of addiction. If a person is able to stop gambling, then it will no longer be an addiction. It's like telling an alcoholic who has a big problem with it, stop drinking if you feel like you're addicted to it.

The addiction of gambling is even worse than that of alcohol,in fact alcohol with a little desire and going into a dis intoxication rehabilitation clinic they have a huge success rate of well over 95% who make it out of it without the body needing alcohol anymore. In gambling is a completely different story as money is involved and the human nature is greedy, they want more and more money and riches, they keep playing until they lose everything if they are addicted, even people who go in the rehab centers to recover from their gambling addiction has a lower success rate,in fact it is 50-50 here, only half of those who go there manage to cure addiction, statistics showing that gambling addiction is even worse to be fought than the addiction of alcohol.

True that overcoming gambling addiction can be uniquely challenging because of the way it interacts with desires for financial gain. However, every step toward recovery is a step towards empowerment and regaining control over one's life. It's important to celebrate the progress made by those who manage to overcome their struggles no matter the addiction. Encouragement and support can make a huge difference in helping individuals reclaim their happiness and well being.

          -    What you said is right, mate. Addicted gamblers are those players who can no longer control themselves in gambling and betting large amounts of money, or they find it difficult to control themselves even though they know that they will be sent home victorious, but they are still not stopped.

Because of the hope of getting a bigger amount of what was won, what happens in the end is that the winning price is lost until the very capital of our gambling is consumed. This often happens because of greed.

I think that at the end of the day, gambling should be done only with an amount that a person is OK losing completely.

It might be seen as a payment to have hope, like a subscription service let's say.

But if that person cannot afford it, then I don't think it's reasonable to pay for it.

Some people gamble with credit, that is really dangerous because you can end up in a mountain of debt.

Indeed, there are more gamblers who cannot stop themselves from gambling, because gambling has a strong attraction too, whether people are rich or poor, in my opinion it is the same, rich or poor does not rule out the possibility that they can be addicted to gambling. They can become addicted to gambling if they cannot control themselves when gambling. It's true what you said, they can't stop when they should, such as when they win and when they lose. I think that when we win or lose we must be able to stop gambling to avoid losses that could cause us misery.
I think those who lose a lot of money know what they are doing, but their mistake is that they expect too much and they chase things that are not certain (winning). If only they knew and realized that winning at gambling cannot be achieved easily, perhaps they would not gamble excessively so that they could lose a lot of money.
It's exciting and thrilling, but it can lead you down a very bad road. We can talk about managing your money and leaving while you're ahead, but that's just the surface. The real thing? That big. This is what we want, no matter how much money we have or how little
Maybe we need to change our attention. Instead of criticising the game, you should show people how it works.  It might be time for a lot of gamblers to wake up by learning about the odds, how the house always wins, and how crazy unlikely it is to win the prize.  It doesn't take away the thrill, but it does make things more real
That's right, gambling is fun and thrilling but it can indeed put us in a bad situation, it also depends on what kind of gambling we do. When we like gambling we must be able to manage finances, even when we don't like gambling we must be able to manage finances well. When we don't like gambling we can spend our money with what we like but still money management is important.
In the event that you've got a lot of time on your hands, you'll be able to take a look at a few of the best ways to make sure that you're getting the most out of your time and effort. Although there are people who believe in tricks and strategies to get a win but I think it has no effect at all. It is true that you said that there is little chance for gamblers to get a win in gambling, that is what must be remembered so as not to overdo gambling.

Well, we cannot do much but be honest and tell them the truth, now it's up to them if they will realize it or not. Take the suggestion or leave it be and I believe it's only us who will know if we are addicted or not to either gambling or addictive substances, all we have to do is ask ourselves if we are and I bet we will know it at that moment.
Many times I have done that to myself, somehow I stopped my bad habits by only using mental strength. No more smoking, less alcohol, and less gambling.
A gambling addict can stop it, it's just mental. It's not like there's a medicine for it or specialists learned and studied how to stop it. Gambling addiction is a battle of ourselves. When we deplete our budget, just take the day off, there's always another day to gamble and I think anyone who does that is a responsible gambler.

True and I think it is a fact that gambling can be fun or can be used as a place for entertainment but on the other hand gambling is also very capable of destroying a person's life in various aspects if they treat gambling in the wrong way. And I agree with the OP's statement that it is strictly forbidden to gamble when you are in a situation that needs money or even gamble with the intention and purpose of earning because after all the uncertainty in terms of winning will instead make you experience a lot of losses instead of earning, and another thing is not to gamble with the intention and purpose of chasing losses to restore something that has been lost, gambling will always work like that, or the point is that when you now win it does not mean that in the next session you will win again, it remains unknown, or vice versa which if for example now you lose it does not mean that in the next session you can win to restore previous losses. In the end, whatever results you get in the current session, in the next gambling session, the results at the end of the session will never be known, remember that victory is only a chance which means only "possibility" and has no certainty.

If a person is able to stop gambling, then it will no longer be an addiction. It's like telling an alcoholic who has a big problem with it, stop drinking if you feel like you're addicted to it.

That's the dilemma of addicted gamblers. They have no sense anymore of what is already going on with their life. As they are already too deep with this habit, they are losing the awareness that they need to stop and contemplate about their gambling activities. They need intervention in this case to make a U-turn of their life. An example is when he is about to lose his immediate family because they will leave him because of this habit or the ones who loaned him are after his life already.

Everything that has become a habit will make someone feel something is missing if they don't do it, sometimes their goal is not always to win, as experienced by my friend where he doesn't care whether the results at the end of the session will win or lose again but he still does it, which maybe this can be interpreted that gambling has become a necessity for someone who has entered the addiction phase.

Maybe I would say that gamblers who are addicted are those who are very dependent on the activity, I don't know the exact reason but in my opinion everything starts with gambling without being based on the right understanding and knowledge about gambling, which most likely they only focus on winning opportunities so they ignore other aspects of gambling that should actually be more concerned such as the possibility of losing which can never be tolerated. Someone who has entered the addiction phase has a problem in their way of thinking, they have a very high level of belief in gambling and are also very obsessed with the activity where the point is all they want is to continue gambling, and what I believe is that someone can reach the level of consciousness to realize that he is addicted along with making the decision to stop when he has experienced a very significant impact that makes him feel traumatized.

Gambling addiction, yes, is hard to tackle, due to the fact it meddles with the way players think. Winning big in gambling is another promise that never leaves the brain of a player. However, while battling with addiction, is not simple to forsake the amount of money lost in the process. It's a mental disorder that continuously stresses the addict out every minute of his life. Unlike alcohol where the addict gets a clear thought once the alcohol content subsides. Addicts struggle with having a clear mind out of gambling, once addicted. Although addicted players at some stage wants to be free, they still find it hard to quit.

The whole process starting from figuring out the addiction and getting the player to therapy is not simple. Addiction causes a chronic mental disorder and must be followed with patience. The healing process continues even after the gambler is fine. Like you said, swogerino, alcoholic easily stops drinking, but a gambler will gamble still after getting healed. The only difference would be that he does it moderately, and not compulsive. To quit gambling completely as a gambler is almost impossible. What is most important is control the way we play.
A gambler that enjoys the fun in gambling will not quit gambling even though he was once addicted, that will not prevent or scare him away from gambling. He will only gamble responsible so that he can limit his losses and don't get addicted again. Any gambler that have suffered from addiction and was able to overcome it, will understand how to gamble in a way that will not affect him.

This is why it is gamblers who are addicted needs medical help and his loved ones to help him at that critical time that he is fighting to overcome addiction in other for him to be successful, and he needs to be monitored to make sure that he does not go back to gamble at the initial stage.

It will be brainless of a gambler who have been addicted in the past to get himself close to compulsive gambling again. Surviving the first addiction is more like an experience that'll help him understand the importance of responsible gambling. Help him realize the need to manage time and money while gambling. And put him on the stage of self-examining himself at every given point, while and after gambling. Although some clueless players can go ahead misbehaving again, but it's rare to find such people who don't appreciate the fact that they once survived gambling addiction. In my understanding, a player who was once addicted, is expected to spend lots of time with his family.

During this period, he can responsibly gamble under the watch of a close family friend. In the meantime, his access to his bank and other financial assets should be restricted, until proven right that he'll never get compulsive again. Like I previously said, the healing process continues, and the gambler can get worried over the pains he has caused his family members. When undergoing such a challenging period, it's not a welcomed development that he gambles. He'll need to take enough rest and settle down all his emotional traumas, then come back fresh and clean to gambling responsibly.

It's true recognizing and admitting to an addiction is the first step towards recovery whether it's gambling, smoking, or drinking. This realization can be a powerful moment of clarity, prompting individuals to take control and initiate changes. It's all about personal awareness and the determination to improve one's life. Just as some people successfully quit smoking or drinking on their own by reaching a personal breaking point, the same can be true for gambling. The key is self-recognition and the willingness to seek help and make substantial life changes.
Overcoming addiction isn't an easy task, especially when the addiction has really eaten deep in the victim.

First the person has to realize that he's addicted and that the addiction isn't making any positive impact to his life and should be tackled.

And then determination is another important tool towards overcoming addiction because without determination, it'll be even harder to stop the addiction, even when you're getting help from a professional.

So after realizimg your have a problem and building up the determination to work on the problem, it'll be easier for the person to take charge of his life and break free from the shackles of addiction.

This means that it is easier said than done and I agree with you because you have said something that is in line with the fact that addiction is a phase where it will be very difficult for someone to stop and maybe you have heard that people who are addicted are difficult to give advice to because usually they will not listen to anything you suggest which leads to the recommended action such as implementing some limits, all they want is to continue gambling and if it was that easy to stop gambling when they are already addicted then logically there would be no gamblers who would experience many impacts bad from gambling like falling poor? Of course.

But in fact, as we see now, the number of gamblers who experience many bad effects is actually increasing and that means it is not that easy to stop gambling when someone has entered the addiction phase because addiction is a situation where someone already has a very high interest in the activity. This is for a reason, such as wanting to get a big win to restore the situation.

Indeed, this is easy to say but difficult to implement, just like the self-control that must be mastered when gambling. Many people have ruined their lives financially, health or even their relationships because they can't control themselves or can't gamble responsibly, they only think about winning, even though the gambling they do ends in defeat, they don't care what they think about winning. and just win. It is very unfortunate for those who gamble but cannot be responsible for what they do.
Someone who can be responsible for their actions or can control themselves when gambling is a rare thing, because the majority of people who gamble cannot do that. They often use large amounts of money, even more than they can afford, because it is not surprising that there are cases of people borrowing money to gamble, or having their lives chased by debt.
That is unfortunately very true. I have seen people lose houses at gambling, they were rich people anyway but the fact that they couldn't stop themselves shows that casinos are so addictive and people fail to stop when they should. I understand losing some money that you decided to gamble with before you start gambling, that way you would know your budget and you will not gamble more than that budget.

But these are not the same things, we are talking about people who end up losing as much as possible, we are talking about a situation that is a bit bigger than that. I believe that most people end up losing a lot of money because they do not know what they are doing and they fail to stop, which causes a lot of trouble later on.
Indeed, there are more gamblers who cannot stop themselves from gambling, because gambling has a strong attraction too, whether people are rich or poor, in my opinion it is the same, rich or poor does not rule out the possibility that they can be addicted to gambling. When someone playing gambling too often, he can becomes addicted to gambling. He doesn't realizes what happens to him. If someone have a spare time and choose to playing gambling, he must be carefully and have a limitations because gambling can tempts him easily. He will not stops playing gambling when he lose some money. And he will keeps playing gambling and recovers his lose because he thinks he still have a chance to wins. That's why if someone have a spare time, he must not use his times to playing gambling instead doing the other things so that will not makes him to spends money. We can playing gambling but we must knows when to stops ourselves so we don't have to lose much money. And we must remember to take a break from gambling if we thinks we already lose some money and to avoids more loses.

That's when the player has no good gambling purpose. Emotional stress is a problem for most gamblers. Handling it is not simple, and taking control while in such a condition is another huge trouble. Most gamblers are stressed emotionally, and it demeans their self-control when gambling. I see this loss of control as the main reason why players are chasing losses. The house's goal is to generate lots of money, and naive players out of greed also want to rake enough money to suit their fantasies. Thier perspectives or views of making huge money, drives the player to make mistakes. Since gambling is designed to help players relax money should not have been any gambler's purpose of being part of the game. However, everyone somehow needs extra money, but gambling isn't a nice place for side hustle.

Yet inexperienced players get deceived to think they can earn more through gambling. That's why they invest both time and money aggressively to hit the jackpot. The more every gambler craves for the jackpot, the harder it gets to win. I see the jackpot as method for attracting more gamblers to join the casino. Since the house advertises players who won the jackpot. Lots of casinos even take it to TV stations to show they've awarded a player a whooping amount of money. In a nutshell, the strongest drive and purpose that leads gamblers to participate in gambling, the jackpot, is mainly for advertisement.

Although... when desperate it's better for someone to not gamble at all, if they have a financial problem, better to take a loan and working hard to pay off the debt.
