All you have to do is keep it in your purse, it will allow you to receive free airdrop.

I am looking forward to bittrex this time round to credit the bitcoin gold. One issue that i face previously was that i have my bitcoin cash in my private wallet. However, when i try to move the bitcoin cash over to bittrex so i can sell it. According to bittrex, it need to have 20 confirmation to be credited, and i remember i start the transfer at 6am when the price of bitcoin cash is at 800$, by the time it reached 20 confirmation in bittex, it was already 11pm and the price had went from $800 to $1100 and drop back down to $200 by then.

If I store BTC in my electrum wallet and then import private key in the BTC Gold wallet, will I get those coins ?
Can anyone help me please.
Most probably the answer is Yes. But I recommend you to read the whole procedure as to how to import the private key to get the free BTG.
Just holding the BTC will make you eligible to claim your free BTG. I would suggest you to keep your BTC on trusted exchanges such as Bittrex as it would easier to sell the BTG once we get it. If you are planning to hold BTG for long term then holding the BTC in electrum wallet will be a good choice.
Backup your private key and then import it once the hard fork is done.
yes mate if you have some nerved you can take the risk putting your coin inside exchange just make sure you are fully verified and that exchange will cater
or support btc gold just like what happen with bitcoin cash before those who store btc inside trex got some good rewards its an easy money for them who
have guts to take the risk.

So we are talking about the fork again and the coin we can make just by keeping BTC in our wallet. Well, this reminds me of the previous fork that we have sometime back. Indeed it was an interesting one. I think few days before the exchanges would announce if they will support the forked chain and would follow the same guidelines like what it did last time.

Let's sit back and wait for them to release the news.

When does Bitcoin Gold become accessible or when will it fork?

The blockchain snapshot must be done 25th October. BTG will be accessible 1st November.

I didn't get any Bitcoin cash also because i didn't get the chance to read the announcement from the site where i keep my Bitcoins. After reading of some articles on how to get the new token bitcoin gold it tells that you need to transfer your BTC to online wallet that actually support the hardfork you find those bitcoin wallet that support bitcoin gold by googling once you found the site that is suited for taste you can transfer your private keys to that site and wait til the hardfork is finished.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bitcoin Gold's snapshot has already been taken (and they're premining now). That means you could be too late if you still hve to move your Bitcoins to an address for which you control the private key. But this is just speculation, caused by the lack of information from the Bitcoin Gold team.

Before you import your private keys into a new wallet, make sure you move your Bitcoins to a new address first, for safety reasons.

Didn't blockchain mentioned that they will be supporting Bitcoin Cash some time back?

Bitcoin Gold has no viable wallet that you can use yet so nobody knows for sure but I assume it should be quite similar to Bitcoin Cash.

Thanks for all the responses,  we just noobs so anyone that can detail it further like your speaking to a child would be very beneficial

nobody is noob enough to not know how to use google! and search for a simple question. specially when you are talking about 40+ BTC which is >$13000 worth of bitcoin cash.

here, it took me 10 seconds to search for it.

The only thing you should do to get your bitcoin gold (or any other BTC hardfork coin) is to import private keys from the wallet, where you have kept your btc at the moment of blockchain snapshot. I hope this explanation will be easy and clear for you.

By the way your friend should get his BCH it is probably sitting waiting for him now there was some guides on how to do so with blockchain.info , Blockchain.info is a wallet and they will not just give you the new fork you need to do some work . Now about the upcoming fork just wait for a good guide to get out because this fork is not like the previous one and it will be harder to handle the split because there is no strong reply protection . some guides already out but I would advice to wait for BitCoinTalk guide and official announcement about how to handle the coming fork .

You should know what exchanger will accept the fork. Those exchangers will have your btc's forked during the fork just hold it on the due date and after the fork you will have your free money.

You can buy your own wallet and store your hoard Bitcoin in there to make sure that you can have your own share of the coming hard fork's Bitcoin Gold. Now, if one has no physical wallet, then the next best thing to do is to store it to an exchange service provider like Bittrex which will distribute your own share of the new altcoin. I have been using Bittrex before the August 1 hard fork and they later on gave me my share of the Bitcoin Cash. Always remember that there are exchanges which are not supporting the coming hard fork and they will never give you any share of the Bitcoin Gold they might have after the hard fork so make sure that the exchange you are using will not hold what does not belong to them.
