I think you can buy it online. That is I think the safest. Because if you are going to buy from over by another it may be that you are being fooled. And of course you do not want.
So I think it is wiser to buy it over the internet.

yeah just go with localbitcoins to get bitcoins for low rate. Your fund will be under escrow So no need to worry about it. So in online this is the best one according to my knowledge and from local traders also We can purchase for Exact which you can find google.

A few updates-

I tried using LibertyX. When I went to the store to get my PIN, I was told they don't do it anymore because the state (CA) put a 20% tax on these transactions. I contacted LibertyX for clarification. They deleted that location (the most popular in my area) and said to try somewhere else. Not very reassuring.

Next I tried BitQuick. I went to bank (Chase) and was told I cannot deposit cash into another person's account if I do not have an account there. BitQuick support says they are wrong and I should try another bank.

Cryptonit posted above and suggested I try them. I submitted my verification this morning. I received a reply on the site's message system but can no longer get in. The site does not recognize my pw and the reset page is currently non-functional.

I need to follow up with the exchanges i sent verification.

Use Wall of Coins: https://wallofcoins.com

It's true about Chase---their tellers don't even know their own policies. However, most likely the account you tried to deposit into had a warning: "Possible Scam Account". No one will let you deposit into an account flagged like this. It doesn't surprise me that a seller using bitquick (not-so quick) has their account flagged as a possible scam account....

I have used Wall of coins before and I have to say it is good. It connects the seller and buyer very nicely and I have not seen someone rate it bad.
Never tried BitQuick but I agree the account was probably flagged.

I made this list while looking for places to buy >1 BTC per day at or near cost. I am in the US.

I currently use Circle and Localbitcoins (Moneygram).

Circle.com - The instant buy limit is $300 per week but can be raised to $3000 per week (max). Limit increases are slow.
Coinbase.com - The instant buy limit is extremely low. Normal buys take up to 9 days to arrive. Limit increases are extremely slow.
Snapcard.io - Allows instant buy via CC @ 4.5%. $50/day max. Verification can be slow, contact support.
Payeer - Fees vary for adding funds. ~3% to withdraw as BTC.
Digatrade - Got verified. Problem adding CC card. Contacted support.
Gemini - Verification for address is hard because they do not accept bank/CC statements.
Cryponit.net - Exchange. Add fund instantly with CC. There is no trade volume.
Kraken.com - Recently started allowing buys from 37 US states. Wire transfer only.
Bitfinex - Wire transfer only.
Virwox - Very high fees
ANXBTC - They do not allow deposits from US.
Coinimal - They do not allow registration from US.
Bittylicous - They do not allow deposits from US. Fees are high.

Others
BTC ATMs - Most are anonymous. I have never used one.
Craigslist - There are a few people in my area that advertise cash deals.

If any one would like, I can add other countries to list.

local bitcoins and meeting at a local coffee shop for is the
only way to do it nowadays. Seems like every other way wants
huge fees, a credit card, or a ton of invasive personal information
such as my bank account. I did all that with Gox and not doing that
again

I understand your feelings but I have never done a meetup. I fear setting up a meeting online with a semi-anonymous person to make a $500+ transaction at Starbucks. Additionally, the fees are usually worse than what I can find online.

I think it's much better if you buy it over the internet.
I also think it is much safer and faster.
Soon you buy from someone who has you fooled.

Use Wall of Coins: https://wallofcoins.com

Wall of Coins has 10% fee

there are site exchange
https://localbitcoins.com/buy-bitcoins-online/usd/     buy btc with usd

LBC was briefly mentioned in first post. I have been using Moneygram via LBC recently.

That "fee" is the seller's fee at the point in time you happened to have searched the site. We have a bit of marketing to do on the site. Here's our USA order book for now: https://wallofcoins.com/api/public/v1/orderBook

Btc Mike, do you remember how much USD you were looking to spend? I ask because our site also uses a system called "organic fee", which basically means the more you spend, the more your discount. Some of our largest sellers are experimenting with this. Come search early...because the cheap coins go FAST.

I forget the exact amount but it was over $600. There were 3 or 4 trades available.

Ahh yes, I see what you're talking about. I checked from my location and I see:

https://www.evernote.com/shard/s158/sh/baf74bea-7ca3-404b-bfc9-9db9573da5b2/6ad332a69eab6c9be1710d1e5a8e43ce

Keep in mind, Wall of Coins *only* shows you the best prices near you---because it's smart and knows you want that. But that rate is about +10% right now. But isn't that what you would pay if you ended up sending a wire to bitfinex? Isn't that what you'd pay when Coinbase adjusts the amount of "instant" bitcoin you have when the market rate goes up after your payment initiation? You get the coins within 15 minutes without jumping through hoops, meeting unfamiliar people, or having delays that don't exist on Wall of Coins.

Welp, any traders with a Chase business account or Wells Fargo or whichever want to give Btc-Mike a better rate? Smiley Btc-Mike, I'd also love if you bought like $5 or $10 from the site just to review how smooth and easy the buying experience is. (Or to give it a review with lots of criticism! Whichever you believe.)

So Many Thanks for your most informative posting on here.

You can also buy Bitcoin from the local traders just check out local Bitcoin traders site and go with the one who has more trust and transactions

To buy with local traders I don't know about it. But in localbitcoins and kraken are best to do trade in Europe or united states.

Just find a right traders according to their positive feedbacks and trusts at there. There is escrow as well to secure your bitcoin and for other party as well, try for it

I left lbc off because I figured everyone knew about but I really should have it on there.

Kraken is good in US for buying BTC only if you are willing to wait for wire transfers to go through.

What are the fees for withdrawing funds from kraken compared to coinbase/circle?  Is NY allowed?  Would it work if you have usa bank acct but living in another country?

There are no withdraw fees at coinbase/circle. They only charge fees during the buy. I don't know about withdraw from Kraken as I have not bought from them.

Anyone else with experience with kraken can give answer to this?  Anyone from NY uses kraken and the fees for selling bitcoin to them?

you cna check their fee on their website for wire transfer, i only know that their fee for sepa is 0.09 cent, basically nothing
