I have invested small amounts into ethereum and etc and I am aiming only for long term profits through HODLING all the way. Both of these coins seem like great investments for the long term due to their awesome development teams and great communities behind them. Apart from these coins, I believe that Ripple, Stellar Lumens are also great long term investments due to primarily their real life use cases and their ties to the banking sector.

It is a secure and untraceable platform which also keeps the amount sent in the transaction secure. This was the first project based upon this idea and is a completely anonymous coin. The team of the project is also very strong and the project has a lot of potential .
You can expect the price of monero to be above 300$ within 1 year or so as the coin is very promising.

Many alts look lucrative at this time. If i were you i would buy and hold these for an year and two- waves, blackmooncrypto, zrx, via, Zcash. But its advisable to keep on looking at the progress/updates that the teams of these tokens are making, as sometimes coins can go to zero.

I would probably recommend you to hold CIVIC and RIPPLE as both of the projects are based on very unique ideas and can show good amount of growth in future.
CIVIC is based upon the idea of identity verification with help of block chain technology and RIPPLE is based upon the idea of global value transfer and real time gross settlement. Both the projects have alot of potential to grow in the coming years.

You definitely shouldn't buy only one asset. Ethereum is looking good in my opinion. My choise for 2018 is tokens of decentralized exchanges/protocols (0x, OAX, loopring....), projects with already working products (Qtum, Waves Platform, Edgeless, Wings) and projects that may be use Rootstock technology.

If you go for altcoin then make some hedging. By hedging I mean invest into big number of different altcoins. Ethereum forks with better functionality or ERC-20 tokens that are bound with real-life assets are a promising direction. Like Armor Ceramics.

Though Ethereum and some other altcoins seem promising but they are still not safe for long term investments. If i were you and i had 20 bitcoins, i would just hold them and not invest them anywhere, seeing the potential of bitcoin itself. The price of bitcoin is likely to grow way higher in coming time and if that happens for someone holding as many as 20 bitcoins it would be a really great thing.
But still, if you want to invest on an altcoin, i see Ethereum on the top, because it is the only altcoin that a person can think of for a longer term.

Honestly, predicting how cryptos are going to perform in 1 year from now is so dificcult that i think you're better off asking this question in the Speculation board, a lot of people over there love playing the game of 'predicting the price of X'
If you ask me, the safest invesment would be Bitcoin, obviously, hold those coins for 1 year and profits will show up, or at least keep a little btc on the side. But if you really want to invest in altcoins then i would definitely recommend ETH, NEO and Monero, especially Monero which i'm very optimistic that is going to be the altcoin to keep eye on in the long-term.
