For me Ethereum, Litecoin, Ioata are the best coins because these coins has a potential to success even the price now is very cheap I believe that these coins someday will rise up again and we can earn a lot of profit if we start to invest in those three coins.
For me I will always go for smart contract platform so for my top 3 best coins from 20 coinmarketcap top coins, I will go for ETH, EOS and NEO, I think that in the future, smart contract platform will have more usage than any other platform, my opinion though.

LTC, XMR and USDT, LTC is obvious it is the coin that is most similar to bitcoin with some slightly differences on its characteristics and it is possible that BTC becomes a store of value while LTC becomes the most circulated coin, XMR because it is the best coin for those that want anonymity and finally USDT if it was not for such a coin then the market will be less dynamic. which 3 coins would you buy ( without BTC )
I think ethereum, Tron, and Ripple are coins that have a very large market capitalization, so I chose these 3 altcoins as the best altcoins in coin market cap. Tron has a cheap selling value, I'm sure the Tron price will increase, even many estimate that the price of Tron will reach $ 2- $ 5, I think this could be true.
even you count bitcoin I still not pick it up. eth,xrp,xlm is too good for me now. xlm have a good base when price doesn't fall down too much even market is down
"Best" is totally relative. And that's one of the problems in those comparisons. In the top 20, we have projects with quite different purposes. Some are undoubtedly the best in certain functions. But that does not mean they will be the most valued in the future. Nor will they be the best for long.
Bitcoin is the safest project to date. It's still incomparable.
XRP is a solution for banks. I can not imagine that it will be something much used by people.

With the exception king BTC, three coins I would adjudge to be the best are ETH, EOS, and NEO. These are three solid blockchains with very huge potentials of growth.

Well for me the top 3 top 20 coins i will buy from conimarketcap at the moment considering the market condition, is eth, sia coin and ETC, these are the 3 coins i will buy from the top 20 coins from coinmarketcap
I'll go with ETH, LTC, and XMR. ETH is the most popular altcoin, it's well-established within the cryptosphere, and it's accepted everywhere. Then LTC because it's cheap and it's one of the few altcoins that I recommend to invest in for the long-term as it's one of the most solid cryptocurrencies in the market. Finally, Monero, the best privacy coin in the market, cheap, fast, more and more merchants are accepting Monero every day, IMO it's the most undervalued coin in the top20.
For me it's Cardano, IOTA and Ripple. I'm not counting Bitcoin and Ethereum as they are in a category of their own. I would say Bitcoin and Ethereum are #1 and #22 but we already know that.

Bitcoin Cash- I know this coin gets a lot of hate but Bitmain is pushing Bcash hard and they have the funds to keep the price high.which 3 coins would you buy ( without BTC )

Bitmain is pushing BitcoinTrash because they are bagholding millions of dollars of it and have no way to offload or sell it. They want other people to buy only so they can sell and exit the market, and the market will dump as soon as they do.
You would do well to stay away from BCH.
For now, I think ETH will be the best due it's very popular, the next is NEO and the last is EOS.
In future, the order will be changed to NEO > EOS > ETH.
NEO, I think it has the highest potential due to It has many improvements in technology compared to ETH that make it faster and cheaper
