What happens if we do not associate any account with our bitcoin address?
When I transfer funds from the bitcoin exchange sites to my bank account, my identity is revealed.
But what happens if I make all my purchases online without making a connection with my personal account?

In short, I wonder if the bitcoin protocol itself is anonymous? Is our IP address logged?
The most practical method to stay completely anonymous is to use a mixer service which you could set receiving addresses and even set delay time in sending orders, and no matter from where you are sending your bitcoins to the mixer's address, your IP is no longer an issue.
IP addresses of the nodes are logged anyone relaying transactions but they might using TOR so you can't really tell if it's their real IP.

Mixing bitcoin is like using burner phones.

Do not we see the first address and last address in the bitcoin laundry sites?

For example, x my personal address. the mixer sites are addresses a, b, c, d, e, f
I transferred money from address x to address c. The mixer site transferred the money between his addresses.
Example process: x -> c -> f -> a -> e -> b -> d

Now, when I want to use the money at d, can not it be found that this money comes from x address?
Can not they ask where you got this money from?

Bitcoin is not anonymous, if it would be the question by OP could not be answered. Its pseudonymous, like e-mail.

Why is bitcoin not anonymous? What personal information can they access?

You are asking the wrong question. What personal information can you get from the e-mail address "[email protected]"? None, but when you send a mail to it you know it will always end up with the same person. Thats what pseudonymous means. There is an alias which masks my personal information, yet you can still know you send information to the same person using the same alias. Bitcoin Addresses have the same property. A fully anonymous system has no aliases. Everything would look identical or like random noise without any way to distinguish one person (behind an alias) from the other.

Why is bitcoin not anonymous? What personal information can they access?
Bitcoin may be quite anonymous if you use mixers, exhanges etc

You are funny, using exchanges would very likely blow your pseudonym as well as you need to identify yourself to the exchange. A mixer can help to avoid connections between addresses, thus keeping your pseudonyms apart from eachother. It does not make you anonymous. It just helps you to maintain your privacy.

Wasn't there a wallet ID that was one of the first that was suspected to be Satoshi's? I remember the community freaking out during the $1200 spike when 180,000 bitcoins moved in and out of that wallet, probably the largest transaction at that time (imagine the mining fees on that one)

Maybe it's Satoshi Nakamoto's address has the most bitcoins Roll Eyes

Yes I suspect so because I'm told he has about 1 million bitcoins unspent but it's also possible that one of the Chinese mining farms are singly holding more than 1 million bitcoins as there are 16 million bitcoins mined already so it's possible a single address might be having more than Satoshi's address but it can't be determined here.

Why isn't that person using multiple addresses instead of holding that much sum on one address?

It be foolish to hold all your BTC in one address especially if you are BTC bagholders. This is just to prevent the unexpected incase your wallet is hacked

Why isn't that person using multiple addresses instead of holding that much sum on one address?

because if you lose one private key you won't lose everything, don't put all your eggs in one basket

and they may associate one address to you, but not the others

and some addresses with a smaller balance will draw less attention than one with a big balance

Can we sort the bitcoin addresses according to their BTC value? Which bitcoin address has the most BTC?
As far as I know, all transactions are already recorded. Then I think we can sort these addresses by their BTC value.
Any ideas on this?

This -> https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC/address/3Nxwenay9Z8Lc9JBiywExpnEFiLp6Afp8v

Thanks for this info and seeing those wallets are jaw dropping and theres no way to find out whose the owner of that wallet since bitcoin is fully anonymous and i couldnt see that it own by satoshi itself since there are lots of early adopters when bitcoin is just starting. This wallet maybe from an exchange since there are lots of transactions.

Same wallet can have multiple addresses, so most in one address does not mean it has the most bitcoins. But this top address is really impressive with $100 million equivalent in it.

Why should this be important?
Knowing this is not really important, it won't change anything and we have no idea who is behind that big address.
But it is hell of a fun to watch people speculate who might be owning so many BTC. Smiley

This information would be of zero value, because this changes constantly. Most exchanges and gambling sites have coins in cold storage, so

it might be big today, and gone tomorrow. The other thing is, most people who knows a little bit about cold storage, would tell you that you

do not use a single address to store your coins offline. You split your coins up into smaller groups, to make it easier to sweep coins when you

need it. Moving 1000's of coins out of cold storage, every time you want to use 1 or 2, would be impractical.  Roll Eyes

Thanks for the link, but I don't think the biggest holder of BTC will keep it in the same addreess for security reasons

It wont be possible as most of the wallets when transferred little amount also the balance get transferred to other address so each transaction the bitcoin jumps to new address. So it is highly impossible to record the details.
