Those are my choices when it comes to investing and all of these are for long-term keeping.
I don't see them being at the bottom of the rankings as their projects are strong enough to keep up with the new altcoins that are being created.
Add the enormous support they have from the crypto enthusiasts.

Currently there are more than 22k altcoins available, if we want a long term target then I recommend investing in top 30 ranking coinmarketcap, but to make a big profit that is 100% even more in less than a year then I prefer to invest in new projects .
Ethereum, Binance Coin, Axie Infinity and Polygon.

I guess these 4 coins is the ones that I will recommend if you want to invest with altcoins but if I will choose only one, Ethereum is the one that I will pick because for me and for some, Ethereum is like a blue-chip crypto coin.

you have clearly say it mate , then why need to settle for altcoins when you already have this in mind? it isn't practical at all that you will engage in other coins that you don't understand.but if I were to choose? at least purchase Ripple(you have seen the increase recently) and of course Cardano mate.
you can also add Polkadot or at least Near Protocol? its your money and its your choice .
Whenever I find altcoins, I usually go for ETH, BNB, Cardano, and some other top 10 coins. You can also specifically find some project-specific coins but that would obviously be up to you doing your own study and look-ups. I'd actually avoid metaverse, for now, they don't look like they're bringing anything up after all the hype when it first popped up, same with p2e coins though i think some are still developing themselves, albeit you can't really earn much from it compared to back then.
If you really want some safe picks then most would suggest top 10 coins (except stablecoins).

Bitcoin seems to be the most popular to invest in. Those that made their choice to invested in Bitcoin some years ago in the community, it was very easy for them to achieved good profits from their investments last year 2021 that made them to embraced this year 2022 to invest more on Bitcoin than any other coins, because the price of Bitcoin is about to increase higher. I think, the price of Bitcoin will definitely increase higher before the end of this year 2022 for those that invested on short term and long term investment to have something suitable to achieve soon.

Do not think about this at the moment, you are still a newbie and it does not seem as if you have been part of this market for long at all, so while there are other coins in which you could invest I do not think it is the right moment for you to do something like that.You need to keep things simple, buy bitcoin and hold it, that should be your mission for the time being, only once you have done this and you obtain profits thanks to the upcoming bull market then you will have a chance to think about other coins in which you could invest in the future.

Stick on what you can see on top ranking on coinmarketcap,somehow it doesnt mean that its an assurance that they would really be lasting forever or does assure that it would really rise up its price in the futurebut considering that they've been placed on the top then we can say that these are good coin but to think that there are people who are really that fan of investing money into those low cap coins
which they do really believe that it is a hidden gem.They are finding coins which could give 100-1000x profits which is really something hard to be done.
Invest on what you do like and always depend on your own decisions and not from other people.

Since you used the word "should", it should be your own decision and not anyone else.
Those altcoins that will be mentioned here are just advice, suggestions, and recommendations. Not because you see them profiting at that altcoins, it doesn't mean you will have the same result.
My recommendations are ETH and BNB as main, IDEX, CARDANO, SOL, GALA as secondary, P2E games, Metaverse games, etc. as optional.
And lastly, improved your DYOR skills.
in my opinion, it is better to invest in altcoins, we should choose crypto that has a good rating, basically it must be in the top 10,,, but I recommend investing in ETHEREUM and BNB, because I think this altcoin is very good to be an investment vehicle for future. and also altcoins ,BNB and ETH trading volume is good. so it is suitable for long-term or short-term investment.
Bitcoin is exactly the first choice, the main crypto as must-have crypto to invest in. This will be profitable as long as you know what to do, moreover for long-term investment, but never panic when every time Bitcoin price may be up and down very easily because this is the era of bearish time, with so high volatility, normal enough.

Exactly agree, beside Bitcoin, these two coins (Ethereum and BNB) may be the best next choices to pick and hold to prepare for long-term holding, especially preparing for the next bullish eras. Their utility is clear enough and they have some certain exact development and progress on the projects. In my honest opinion, only ETH so far is the most worthy altcoin to invest. No disrespect though, but it's designed for long term and worth doing the DCA (dollar-cost averaging) along with Bitcoin.
ETH so far is one altcoin that I am really bullish for long term despite that it didn't rise the way it should be after the merge. Despite there are no guarantees or promises, it's just worth holding ETH long term.
i think Cardano(ADA) is a good option to invest in at the moment because they are currently at rank 8 in Coinmarketcap, with an awesome team behind them and even they have a great partnership.

There are many altcoins to choose from, but I would recommend choosing ETH or other top altcoins because the top coins are trusted and have ongoing project developments.

Your choice does not invest in Bitcoin and choose Altcoin in my opinion is very appropriate, because Bitcoin is already flying high and Altcoin is still in its bottom,even if you know fundamental then you will certainly choose Altcoin. List of some altcoin with good fundamentals and still very cheap is Verasity, nervos, algorand, Alchemypay, Pundix, Illuvium.
