Dont look at exchange company.
Agree with others, use preev.com. It check major exchange and calculate the rate using a simple formula. It is one of the most famous and trusted site to check for Bitcoin price.

The one that makes the most sense is the exchange that you use to buy and sell bitcoins.

My wallet was set to use Bitstamp and BTC-e backing it up, however after Bitstamps hack i switched them, now BTC-E is the main with Bitstamp as a backup.

Does it matter?

Options are:

BTC-E
Bitstamp
LocalBitcoins
CampBx
VirtEx
Coinfloor
OKcoin

Bitstamp is usually the standard on most of the sites. Some sites use average of stamp and finex.
