Uh... Im sorry to say this but practically NO laptop is going to beable to mine,

To my knowledge CG miner is 20-30MH/s slower than Phoenix with the old SDK. Correct me if I'm wrong?
I'm talking about GPUs from 6xxx and 5xxx series there is no question about what should be used with 7xxx cards.
I should have put a 5xxx and 6xxx series cards in the topic, my fault.

Maybe we should compare our results to see who can make the highest. I would say we should compare same GPUs with same frequencies.
I will give you my results:

Phoenix/phatk2 - VECTORS BFI_INT AGGRESSION=12 WORKSIZE=256 FASTLOOP=false
  5830 - 900/300MHz - 302Mh/s
  5850 - 900/300MHz - 376MH/s
  5870 - 900/300MHz - 418MH/s

If anyone can pull more MH/s on those frequencies please tell us how? Smiley
(I have chosen lower freq so everyone can test at this frequencies, this are my average results)

Can you give more details about exactly what files you're using, or what SDK and/or driver package you downloaded? I'd like to be able to make an equal comparison with my 5830s, but I can't even find a copy of Phoenix 1.6.4, and I don't know what SDK you're using. I downloaded Catalyst 11.9, but that appears to come with SDK 2.5; if I can get the same files as you I'd be willing to do a fresh install of Windows to see if I can get those numbers.

As it stands, I've been using latest drivers/SDK and Phoenix 2 (Phoenix 1.7.5 gets 1-2 less Mh/s), and I get around 315Mh/s at 980/1000 with VECTORS4 BFI_INT AGGRESSION=12 WORKSIZE=128 FASTLOOP=false. If I put the memory clock down to 300mhz I get around 255Mh/s, if I do that and change my settings to yours I get around 272Mh/s, and if I change my settings to yours with the memory clock at 1000mhz I get around 287Mh/s.

(edit: well, i already replied to this, but.. everything is pretty much the same except for dropping the mem clock a bit,  when i run the cards at 1000 i increase mem clock to 199 for 128worksize, 299 for 256)

well, you shouldn't be using latest drivers/SDK, they all require the high memory settings.

i have a system with three 5830's, but for the last 3 or 4 months i've been running them at 1.063v instead of 1.163v (not for energy efficiency, since my elec is <7c/kwh, just from heat issues)... but at 1.063v, 925core, 180memory, 9 aggression, 128 worksize, they get a little over 290mhash..  that's in windows 7, 2.5sdk, and whatever driver is in catalyst 11.11

How much do you make with your 5870?

my 5970 run poorly at 295 Mh/s by core,  have 2 5770 that runs at 180 Mh/s each, bad SDK version, running dynamic mode, not OC on my day-to-day computer..

Working a night or two on my mining rigs, I would be able to pump all those a bit, but dont have the courage !  Wink

watch my mining box here : http://youtu.be/qfCe5rN87PQ

Some friendly advise here if that really is your setup DoomDumas

Am sorry to say this but your rig you got setup their is 1 a fire hazard 2 the PSU your using is also anther fire hazard.

With enclosing into a box like it is that is casing it to close all heat inside and actually have no air flow or very little.  if you want good air flow within a closed box like you hav you need a push pull configuration x amount of fans taking in cold air x amount taking hot air out same on box but they way you have it set up is a total mess.

Friend you need to understand how air flow works is your temps for your rig will solely increase due to the amount of heat that the GPUs are giving off despite your number of fans you have on the sides it wont be enough.

You are enclosing all heat.

It would be far better to take that down stand the unit up with the side panel off the tower and actual target fans towards components that need most air flow going in or enclose as is stand up and have a what is called push pull configuration x amount of fans the back of tower x amount on face of case and some on top if you got right case and also on side
Cant explain any more clear than this

This will actualy stop your components from over heating and causing a fail or crash from over heating. Just some simple advise and tips. I wouldn't want all that heating up what you got and it not re starting up.

Regardless of VGA, drivers, settings, CPU bugs, output, user interface etc.

Which miner gives the highest Hash Rate?

EDIT: I say it is Phoenix-1.64/phatk2 with ATI 11.9 for 5xxx and 6xxx cards

I've been using POCLBM for more then a year, then switched to cgminer : got a 20% increase in hasrate (5970 cards)  Just the miner changed..  I love very much the fan/clock control included in cgminer, as I had several issue with afterburner bugging.. this FU___ afterburner froze and it let one of my GPU overeat a lot (114 celcius), ram died, result, a scrap 5970 !  ouch

Then, I've made the mistake to update the Catalyst stuff including the SDK, (SDK 2.4 to 2.6)  lost 10% performance.. have try a one shot uninstall and re-install SDK to downgrade to 2.4, failed.. I know sometimes it gets tricky to downgrade ATI (AMD) Soft  :S

did'nt push it more for now..

Lesson learn, I'll never mine again with a miner that has no fan/clock embeded control... I'll love those failsafe too in cgminer !

that was my 2 satoshi !
How much do you make with your 5870?

5870 ?  do you mean the 5970 that has broken RAM ?  0, dead card..

my 5970 run poorly at 295 Mh/s by core,  have 2 5770 that runs at 180 Mh/s each, bad SDK version, running dynamic mode, not OC on my day-to-day computer..

Okay, thanks for telling me.
After that trial with cpu, tried mining with my hd4570 but I think it's worthless. Hashing speed with cgminer and with an extra flag value gets up to 10 M/Hash per sec.
Uh... Im sorry to say this but practically NO laptop is going to beable to mine, Also i HARSHLY advise you to not attempt to mine with a laptop, Doing so will reduce it's lifespan Drastically.

Take a look here https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison at the performances.

Things like a $70 5830 get 250-300mh/s

He's talking about GPU mining, not CPU mining. 100s or even 1000s of times faster.

You asking the wrong question?  You should be asking, which miner will make you most money with your rig(s).
I'd say cgminer because of its control features, remote API and statistics.
You can tweak it to perform best with YOUR particular hardware.
It isn't the wrong question, because I don't care how much electricity i use up and I don't care about statistics and tweaks because I can do them all with .bat files and some controllers.
I have been mining before the time of GUI interfaces and CG miner, so I had to figure my own ways of doing that.

...Phoenix and cgminer both use the phatk kernel...

that looks to be about what i'd get for 5830 & 5870, I use phoenix w/ aggression 9 (and set process to real-time priority)    but as i recall, something like 325 memory would be optimum for 900 and 256 worksize.   i've switched to 195 memory and 128 worksize, keeps cards cooler and only lose a few mhash

15-20mh/s is lost from my experiance, that would be correct. But what about the 100% CPU bug? Also, From my experiance, incresing the memory clock will help hashrate (Phoenix only and i think i was using some Weird kernal, Like PhatkDia)
CGminer auto chooses what it believes is the best kernal for your card.

I have CG miner running on three different machines, One chose Diablo (my 7000)
It chose Phatk2 for my duo 6870's
And chose phatk for the 5830
