At present, I am doing a research on the most profitable trading method and I am wondering: Is it better to do btc/fiat trading or btc/altcoin trading?

Which method yields the highest profit?

in my opinion it depends on two things, your preference and timing.
there are times when bitcoin/fiat is so profitable because the price is so volatile and swings around a lot, unlike now that price is almost stable.
but also you may want to invest in altcoins because they get pump and dumped a lot and so big. you can never see %300 rise in bitcoin but that is a common thing with altcoins!

i personally more prefer to btc/altcoin trading because several weeks ago i did trading using BTC/fiat but because bitcoin prices was down i try to find another options to recover my losses because at that time ETH prices are pretty high i'm trying to trading BTC/ETH and it's working well even i got some profit from that but currently if you want to try it i think you have to find another altcoins because ETH prices was down

If you only look at the higher profit than btc/alt market could be more profitable even with small amount of investment. But risk is really high in this pair just like risk in gambling where you could also loss all you have.

Bitcoin to fiat is the best in my opinion. Everytime it gives at least small profit compared to the altcoins, because altcoins won't be in rise continuously. At times it will be in rise, based on that only can make profit.

Which method yields the highest profit?
For me, better to do btc/altcoin because a lot of traders in them, and the volume is high. and you can get a medium profit from them.
but different with BTC/fiat it's more be quiet than trading btc/altcoins because a lot of people realizes they just get a little profit from there.
and the demand is slight.
Btc to usd or usd to btc is one of the safe method to make a profit so if you have a 1 btc in up you can make a daily $2 to $5 depends in the margin. Also trading in altcoin is one the good idea but the problem is many shitcoin are appearing weakly better to choose the best and legit altcoin that you can hold for a long time..
You can relay in coinmarketcap choose top 10 altcoin that you can hold for a long time and expect for price increase and sell it then buy again if the price is low..

it is only up to you to decide which one of these methods is best for you.

many people prefer trading btc/fiat because it is closer to other real big markets and can speculate it better based on technical analysis and other stuff.

but many others [like me] prefer altcoin market because it is more volatile and have more opportunity for profit in it, the swings are bigger. but it is sometimes harder to predict.

in the end you can do both. trade bitcoin/fiat when the bitcoin price is volatile (unlike the stable state right now) and trade altcoins when you get the chance to find a good opportunity.

well, if you are willing to take huge risks with high potential rewards, then altcoin "trading" will give you the better returns. but i personally consider "investing" btc into altcoins to be the same as gambling. that's why i left altcoins in 2014 and focus solely on trading bitcoin against the us dollar. you'll need more patience with bitcoin, but i don't mind it as i know i invest in something with a great future potential.
Good proper suggestion . I agree with this , well I do two types of trading ,
1. Buy large amount of small priced coins like dogecoin . ( ex . buy at 35 sats and sell all when it touches 37 or 38 sats ) . It will take maximum of 3 to 4 days but you gotto do some analysis like seeing the chart , what was the price before 3 days , all that
2. Buy btc , keep it , be patient for 5 to 6 months and then sell to make 50-60$ .

So basically I do both , altcoin trading and btc/fiat . As randy mentioned , high risk is involved in altcoin trading but you will get high profits for sure.

The best methode is BTC binary, with this methode you can earn a lot. Firstly check the market and let's go  Wink

Remember this is his opinion, the best trading method is the one that you study and learn over a long time eventually understanding it inside out. You can earn and lose from ALL methods. My personal favorite is alt to btc as once you see the trend it becomes easy, I have only ever lost on one alt coin and that was in my early days where I panic sold. Just like anything in this world, practice makes perfect or close to so OP take your pick and go for it.

Both have risk, and with both you can earn or lose money. I think trading BTC / alt coins is cheaper and you need to wait a bit longer for profit, cause some alt coins are cheap and you are waiting price to rise. With btc / fiat is different, you follow just price of bitcoin and on rise you sell on drops you buy. To have a good profit you need to invest much more then in trading with altcoins. But you need to catch good moments for this actions, if you make a mistake you will see your money lost.
I like to trade with alt coins, I follow news mostly here about new coins, I buy them when they are cheap and then sell when price rise. I don't invest much, for me its fun.

It depends on your amount of money you want to trade, trading altcoins to bitcoins is profitable when you deal on huge amounts but the risk is higher, I havent traded in fiat market but that should be good too.
